Serious question, I'm sorry if that offends someone or something but.. not being a fan of Homestuck I can't even tell the 5 characters everyone seems to cosplay as apart and I have to wonder: don't people just get sick and tired of seeing the same black wigs and grey paint over and over? Room with friends for Anime Expo. They have a few stragglers to makeup for last minute drop outs in the room. They don’t know one of the girls to well but they need the money. Plus we all still need to shower. (Not that our costumes automatically take priority but 2 hours, really?) We notice a funny smell coming from the bathroom. Door is locked, and she wont let us in.

As much as I'd like to drag the bathtub thing further through the mud, I actually need a bit of help, HSG.
I'm working on Meenah's braids, and I've taken apart one 60 inch wig to create them. While everything is going fine, there's bits of hair sticking out and looking ugly every now and then. They seem to be impervious to repeated blasts of Got2B, so is there any product or something I can put on these things that will permanently seal the braids some how? I'd have to rebraid these things after a few trips to a con.

Which fabric should I use for a god tier Dave cosplay?

Some advice for those of you graying up in a hotel: remember the Do Not Disturb sign.

At a con last year, there were five of us rushing to the con grayed up in the morning, and the bathroom was a mess when we left for the day (mostly with sealing powder since it got knocked over). No big deal, though, we'll clean it when we get back, not hard to do, it's just baby powder.

But, my friend forgot to put up the "do not disturb" sign, and we get a call from the hotel staff halfway through the day that the maids cleaned our mess and we would have to pay $250 for damages. I ask them "what damages?" (none of our stuff stained!) and they refuse to answer. We have to leave our friends early that day to go deal with it, and the staff had lied to us on the phone, nothing was cleaned, so why were we getting charged? We clean like crazy, scrub every surface so it's cleaner than we left it, which was, of course, pretty easy with water based paint and baby powder.

We actually have to get the hotel manager to come up and "survey" the bathroom that we had not left any damages. The fee is dropped, nothing bad came of it, but it was all kinds of stressful, since we WERE planning on cleaning (which wasn't hard) but it was assumed we weren't.

So yeah, advice: always clean your shit, and if you don't have time in the morning, put that damn sign on the door.

My friend made a fantastic looking Gamzee with a wig that came to two or three inches below the chin and cut it up, styling it like that.

since most people on here aren't even cosplayers (or just unhelpful to most questions) i'll go ahead and answer this one. ardawigs has the best wigs for styling imo. for gamzee, you should get one of their "medium length" wigs (cut it a bit if you need to), and place hair rollers/curlers (you can usually get them at the dollar store or wherever) in it all over, now blowdry it (being careful not to melt the fibers! even resistant wigs such as arda cannot withstand it to some degree) for around 10 minutes. let the wig cool before you take them out. before you take out the hair curlers, spray the wig with a bit of hairspray. after the spray dries, take them out and backcome it carefully. you can brush out some of the curls a bit if they are too curly, and you can add some flips with hair gel. i think that would do it. happy wig-styling!

There are some petty and stupid reasons (like the size of her nose I guess), but a lot of people don't like her here because of genuine valid reasons that have to do with her history and personality. Off the top of my head:

-An ego the size of Texas
-Enormous attention whore, re the Meenah crying gifs
-Catty, two-faced, gossipy personality (she's well known for talking shit about people- spending time with her at a con is having to accept Heaven bitching out and nitpicking every cosplayer she sees. It's horrible.)
-She's a manipulator who instantly plays the victim card when someone tries to explain why she's upset them
-VERY poor craftsmanship, but claims to be a 'professional' (take this photo for example, also look at basically everything else she does- her hotglued Porrim, her frayed-thread Mom, her awful Sculpey horns)
-Atrocious pricing for her horrible cosplay products/commissions (she sold a Roxy scarf that was just squares of fleece tacked together for about $40, among other things)
-Known to have scammed people that have commissioned her (there have been anons sharing their stories in these threads in the past)
-Known to have taken credit for a cosplay she didn't make
-Known to read these threads and throw fits about them on Twitter etc, but never makes any attempt to change her personality or try to become a better person
-Slapped someone at the Anime Expo meetup and got kicked out of her hotel room at the same con for being a drama-filled retard
-At cons, she'll treat you with coldness/boredom if you're not Internet Famous, then turns around and is suddenly all smiles for the people that are.

HSG brings her up so much because she just never changes. If she actually makes attempts to become a better person and puts some real effort into her work, she'd probably be left alone.

The Homestuck panel at AX was cancelled due to some expert trolling on someone-or-other's part (they emailed the con pretending to be Hussie's girlfriend and told AX staff that they didn't want the panel to happen, so it was cancelled). When Heaven found out that the panel had been cancelled (she was supposed to be the Aradia there), she was at the meet. She burst into tears and slapped the person who was trying to comfort her. She'd also been back-talking and bitching about the people who were letting her stay in their hotel room all weekend, so she got kicked out for that, too.

What my friend did is go out and buy long wefts from Sally's Beauty Supply (or really any hair supply store type place). They were only like $6.00 each (so $12.00 for both braids). Then she just braided them together. Since they were all the same length and weren't from a wig, there were very few "flyaway" pieces from layers or anything like that. It ended up looking really good.
