Not much to report, but I figure I'll give the thread a bump anyway.

My next cosplay is going to be Rikka from chu2. And the one after that is going to be Homu or moe!Homu. Not sure which conventions yet, as Hyper Japan hasn't released any dates so far. Hoping to get them both finished by February though. Just started work on Rikka, but had to stop after making cuffs for a shirt as I pricked my thumb and got blood everywhere. Oops.

Since I'm fairly new to all this, what cons are generally good and which ones are worth avoiding?

Depends on what event. A lot of the britfag seagulls who go to things outside of Expo and hyper know each other so it's more or just a reunion with a few newcomers. That was just finished off enough to do for a video. I've already worked on a bunch of things, and more things are going to be done before I actually get around to wearing it at a convention for next year.

Namely doing a bodysuit because fuck taking 4 hours to do tatts. This was day one, I managed to do them a little quicker/better day 2, but it was still tedious. Not that I'm sure anyone cares, but there you go.

As for what to cosplay for your first time, don't try something too hard unless you're confident doing it. Figure out what you like and if there's a character from what you like that you think you could pull off, go for that. Don't listen to people being all 'but everyone does that', if you like it, cosplay it.
Also, if you have friends that go to these things, go with them, it's like 5x the fun with mates
But if you're looking for groups to join in on then check out the forums on like cosplay.com and cosplayisland and stuff like that to see if there's anybody doing a series you like or whatever

Most perverts are too socially inert to bother people directly. MCM really isn't that great, almost all the people I know only go to meet up with people they already know. I'm sticking to simple for cosplays for this MCM, Possibly Betty (Adventure Time) and most likely Vanellope (Wreck-It Ralph).

I want to cosplay Reverse Annie from League of Legends, but I can't find the right onsie to alternate properly. And I can't sew from scratch for shit, so that's out of the question.

Problem is, Kigu's are always lower, which is inaccurate to hers. I'm trying to get a hold of an older version of a Primark monkey onsie. It's almost the perfect colour, then all I have to do is unstitch the ears, tail, stomach and sew over the foot writing. Then just add the right stuff!

Main problem, is getting that onsie is a /pain/ now, since they made a new version with a puffy hood.

I sadly lack a reverse Tibbers. :( My boyfriend was going to do it, but we haven't got the money to get him a Tibbers fursuit.

A lot of people are polite, mostly just from being British. And most food is wrapped up/bottled when indoors. Some areas can get super tight but if you have a big costume people will give you space.
