There's always been a divide between face characters and party company people--generally, face characters look down on the people who work for party companies for a variety of reasons: some because they're mad that someone is acting like Snow White but isn't a "real" Snow White, some because they don't like how the company's are making money off Disney characters, and some because *some* party company people are nutjobs like Traci. Traci in particular has been rrrrrreally disliked by most face characters because she's in the California area, has come to Disneyland with her "Ariel hair" and poses like a princess/tries to act like one when she's there and because she's lied to customers, conventions & some of her employees and told them that Disney hires her company at Disney events when is false. Disney tolerates her like they tolerate all face character companies who don't step over the line.

now, Spieling Peter and his-girlfriend-I-forget-her-name were once legit face characters, very popular in the Tumblr fandom because Spieling was a god-tier Peter Pan and his girlfriend (actually wait, they got married, so wife) because... well, probably because she played Wendy and it was OMGALSJALSD PETER AND WENDY TOGETHER. Anyway. For them to join a knock off Disney party company, and not only a knock off Disney party company but TRACI'S... was basically putting a target on their back for a lot of other legit face characters. It's like sleeping with the enemy. A lot of current face characters are pissed. One of them told me it's because it's giving Traci "cred" to have someone like Andrew & wife who were once actual face characters. Obviously the entire community doesn't loathe them but some people are h-o-t because of what they perceive as a betrayal not only to Disney & Disneyland, which is the only reason he has any sort of fame, but to the people who work as legit face characters.

No, that's not her. That's Clara LeGrow(sp?). She seems a lot more down to earth and unlike Traci, isn't a delusional obsessive Disney fan who is a party princess because it's the only way she can act out her Disney fantasies. She also, from what I've read about her parties and read on her own site, knows how to work with children and make the parties about them--everything I've seen from True Enchantment when Traci is there is making it all about HER and not about the kids.

Also out of all the outfits I've seen in this thread the best one was freaking Prisma/Petz ( >>6509781 ) and thats because I could see her wear something like that. I legit don't know.

One theory floating around is that he misses playing Peter and his other acting gigs haven't been doing well.

On the one hand, I can understand why someone would enjoy doing party gigs--you get a LOT more interaction with kids, you can do a lot more to make their day special because you're not having to deal with Disney rules or having to divide your time between kids and other guests at the park, etc etc, but.... Traci is such a leech and honestly, not that good at kid's parties when you have to know how to make the day all about them. I'm disappointed that he decided to work for her.

What was impressive was his dedication to the character, ability to improvise at the pace he did, chemistry with the other actors, and the fact that kids LOVED him. He was always leading troops of honourary lost boys and girls on adventures and treasure hunts, like hunting for buried sugar, or crashing Alice's tea party. If forced to stand or sit in one place, he would find something nearby that could be messed with, and mess with it. He could flip his knife around, crow, and generally act like an ADHD twelve year old to comedic effect.

I haven't, but my aunt said that scouts were at her college campus years ago and they had approached her. I suppose that's a good place to find willing people. She also said they had a tendency to approach "wholesome" type girls who dress more simply and don't go heavy on the hair and makeup.

Basically. One of the Disney themed blogs I watch on Tumblr actually went to an audition and didn't get past day one. Her group was apparently pretty small, and you don't get informed before hand what they're looking for. From what she said it looks like they mostly scout for extras at those auditions and then if you're really good (or learn well) you may bump up to a face character. They look at your overall appearance, have you improv a dance routine and do a skit/monologue that's on the short side.

Mind you a lot of face characters will do double duty and in those fur-suit characters too. A friend of mine was on the intership a few years ago and a dude who was Prince Phillip also went around the park I think as Chip. (The chipmunk, not the tea cup.)

>> No.6511604

I went to a Paris audition recently, and the thing they drilled into us most was EVERYONE DOES CHARACTER SETS (fur suits). No matter if you're a dancer or a princess or whatever, you WILL be doing shifts as a suit character.

I didn't make it past round one, before anyone asks/cares.

I used to work for Walt Disney World in 2010/11 and they're pretty strict on what they're looking for in face characters. I never bothered to go to the auditions because I'm 5'2 aka the "Dead height" which means I'm too tall for certain suit characters but too small for face characters.
The auditions were held in the Animal Kingdom costume building where I had to get my uniform. There would be days where they'd be holding auditions and my bus to work would be PACKED with dolled up girls going to the auditions. I heard that over 100 girls would show up at a time and then they'd narrow it down to about less than 10 to advance to the next round.

There would be good days and bad days, I guess it depends on where you're working. I extended my program, so I was there from Sept.2010-May.2011

The Cheesy: Looking back on it, I had the experience of a life time. I learned things and skills that helped me grow as a person, not only in a working sense but growing as an adult as well. They put you in these apartment complexes that only house other college aged cast members who are doing college/career program too. It was my first time living on my own so I learned a lot from that too. I also met some really amazing people from all over the world. TL;DR I got to experience a lot of amazing things and made some incredible memories.

The Real: This is a job just like anywhere else. Where I worked was essentially an overpriced fast food restaurant. I think I made like 7.50/hr and about $80 was taken out of my paycheck each week to pay for my apartment, and I lived in the cheapest apartments you could be in. There was also no fucking around when it came to clocking in or being late. If you had too many lates or no shows, they "terminate" you. Essentially they fire you but make it feel more dramatic because its Disney. If you get in trouble, its not just being "written up" you get REPRIMANDED. If you get X amount of reprimands in Y amount of time, you're terminated. I know in the video I linked below has the guy talking about showing up late, but I think he might have been exaggerating a bit.

You know what, just watch this video. He sums it all up pretty well. He has a series of these "Confessions of a Cast Member" videos that I can relate to really well.

>Do you still work for disney

I don't work there anymore I was a College Program intern, went seasonal after my program, but then they changed the seasonal requirements so I lost my sweet gig working 1 shift a year for free park tickets and discounts
.
>Characters I did:

Pooh, Chip/Dale, June/Leo/Quincy (Lil Einsteins it's Disney Jr. stuff), Dug the Dog from Up when he was still in DHS as a Meet and Greet, King Louie (favorite), Handy Manny (more Disney Jr, fuck that guy). Probably others like the cat from Pinnochio but that was just in training.

>Did you do parades

I was not parade trained because I can't dance for shit, but I got to carry the banner at the end of the animal kingdom parade hurrdurr a couple times (it's basically a job that any idiot can do, you get to do it if you're a "spare" sitting around in case someone gets sick or injured or calls out)

> Best character -

King Louie because he doesn't have to sign autographs

> Worst character -

I've met super awesome sweet princesses liek the fairy who shared her PB truffles with us shitty spares that got stuck in their dressing room on 4th of july to do pop ups, and bitchy who-are-you-even fur characters, trying to act all hard when you're jojo the fucking clown bitch please

BBB is 100% separate from entertainment as far as I know, when I was in the program I had a roommate who was one of those. I hope you love the stench of hair spray and being covered in glitter for the rest of your natural life.

Basically, if you don't get issued basics, or work as a character attendant, you're not "in the entertainment club". Basics are the gray tee shirts and black/blue shorts, etc, that fur gets along with their fur costumes to wear underneath. Face gets white shirts and blue lab coats for while they are putting on their makeup and stuff.

Anyways, just because you aren't ent doesn't mean you won't be able to make ent friends, but we are really kept so separate from a lot of the other business lines that the only time I ever really interacted with other CMs was when I did my traditions class, when I did any of the disney-organized stuff like graduation party, and the people i lived with. i probably could have gone out and partied and made friends but i'm an asshole. when i was on the clock, i was almost always in an area that was designated just for entertainment, we always had "private" break rooms because you're not supposed to wander around in your basics, if you go into guest areas you have to take them off or cover the bar codes on them. As it was, sometimes you had to carry your costume through a guest area, you had a big ass lumpy black bag and you just tried not to make eye contact or some dickhead dad would just HAVE to say "SO WHO'S IN THE BAG HURRDURRR" right in front of the chilluns. Nice job.

I would imagine some parents will be assholes/demanding because the packages are pretty pricey and they want to get their money's worth. But I do love working with kids and getting to play around, especially since (from what I read on a blog of a BBB hostess) you can play around with talking about fairies, princesses, etc etc.

Though I am a bit worried about getting the BBB job because of my acne.... I don't usually get more than1-3 pimples at a time but I have some raised/small keloid scars along my chin that are visible even with make-up on and it's a makeover role, ' I wonder if they would pass me over for someone with much clearer skin. Wait. I though Spieling Peter and his waifu got fired because Biranna broke the code that Disney Parks has, which is to not make the individual face characters recognizable.

I know that's why she's just freelance now, instead of a park worker.

So, technically, they got fired/were asked to resign along with a few others because a park worker decided to point out how you can tell the difference between the Peters. She's actually the only reason Spieling Peter was 'famous'. She pointed out the difference between him and Acorn Peter and was why they had fan-bases in the first place.

They obviously love their jobs, so why not go work for a knock-off company, that probably pays more in the first place.

So yes. Let's blame them for something that Brianna did to their jobs, right?

Walt Disney's goal was entertainment that people of all ages could enjoy together as a family, he made the Disney parks so he could have fun with his kids as opposed to just sitting and watching them play at the park.

Disney is an important part of American history and it's arrogant and ignorant to dismiss it as "kid stuff" when it has been as influential as it is. You're really not impressing anyone, maybe you should go try the same schtick over at /toy/, maybe you can get a reaction from them, though I doubt it.

Naw, because she started making posts, fanart, blogging, etc about specific friends of Alice & the Hatter in 2008. They already had a quiet youtube following which grew and grew over time. I don't know when/if she started blogging specifically about Peter, but I wouldn't blame her at all for "pointing out how you can tell the difference between the Peters" since people--well, Disney Youtube fangirls--had been doing that for years.

The main reason Disney decided they didn't want him back after his contract was that Andrew was, to quote Peter Pan himself, just too old. He's got--and is this ironic?--crow's feet and eye wrinkles that make him look like he's in his 30s at times. And although his appearance never affected his performance, Disney doesn't care about popularity and fangirls and decided not to ask him back. his popularity could have had something to do with it--but for that, look to Tumblr and Youtube, not Bri.

Also, it's their decision to join True Enchantment. Bri, nor anyone else, forced them to decide to work for a company. If they want to work there, more power to them, but that doesn't change how many fcs feel about it.

If that's true, then just because he's too old doesn't mean he'd be fired. Typically "over the hill" (see, older than 27) face characters end up as trainers for future entertainment performers, and someone with street cred like Spieling Peter would be a top choice for the position, barring any other traits we're unaware of that would have disqualified him from the position. That's how the game works at Disney ent, you make your "friends", try to get in with the more talented ones who will go on to jobs as trainers, trainers become I guess "scout" is the position, I know there's a formal name for it but I forget after all these years, and they are the ones who sit in auditions, if you get to second round for face they help you go over the material you have to learn on the spot and explain the costume pieces and stuff.

so, tl;dr, just because he got too old, Disney wouldn't have tossed him out in the street, he must have decided that working with that rip off group had more potential than training new performers or else he just wanted to continue getting attention. It was pretty stupid thing to do, Disney is a good company to have a career with if you want to work up the ladder, maybe they don't always have great pay but they treat their employees pretty well otherwise.

Like because they knew it was that "specific" Peter they would follow him with cameras, try to hog him during shifts, etc, when he clearly wanted to interact with a lot more guests without being hounded.

As for why True Enchantment, it's a mystery. It's possible that because it's in the area of where he lives + the most popular of the fake character party companies in southern California, that's why he chose it? Idk. I can only say that I hope that his parties at least are better than Traci's

depression is very fickle, one minute you can be hanging out with your friends having a party and the next they find you with slit wrists in a bathtub. That is why people almost never see their friends contemplating suicide before it is too late and why suicide notes are primarily the stuff of fiction.

Even if a person is almost always depressed it is very common to hide it, or even lie to yourself about it, you know you should be happy about something so you react very strongly to the thing that should be making you happy.

Some people have learned that if they talk about their depression or admit to having it, the people closest to them will dismiss it and tell them the equivalent of "just cheer up", so they make plenty of effort to trying to cheer up, but they always feel depressed anyway and wonder what is wrong with them.

Anyway, just pointing out that even if someone is occasionally happy, or just saying they are, does not mean they do not have depression.

RE your first part there, it's something that looks good on a resume, and there are plenty of positions that don't really require character knowledge, like cooking, hospitality, or a lot of the management stuff. People do DCP for a lot of reasons and I'm not going to judge people who can see it as a career opportunity more so than a chance to relive childhood every day. I knew/know a guy who built his photography business through his DCP in photopass and the contacts he made there.

>>6515241
When I worked there, they didn't even really like it if they (trainers or management) overheard stuff like "Oh, I'm a really close friend of ___" and while you may not have gotten an official write up, they might have had words with you. Some managers take Disney Magic really really seriously. I had a surprise review when I was Dug and got told off for sitting down, not because the costume could get dirty but because the bottom of my shoes showed and since they don't look like real dog feet on the bottom I could "ruin" the Disney Magic for some kid who somehow failed to realize that 5'4" dogs are uncommon and also do not stand on two legs and never blink.

Disney is quite progressive with hiring differently abled people, I knew a Character Attendant who was in a motorized chair (she was kind of big) and I swear I saw one person in a regular wheelchair working costuming. When I worked at DHS, there was a guywho was in charge of all the touchups to the hard faces of the heads and he had a messed up arm with like 2 fingers or something. Don't give up your dream if you really want it, Disney can see passion in people and they try to make it work when they can.

The redesign had nothing to do with how the park costumes were received, it's because they're updating the Disney Princess line to be more "hip" and "young" and are reflecting that in the parks. Pic related.

I think the new design is much prettier and a helluva lot more flattering, but there's no "right" or "wrong" in this case.

I feel the same, but Rapunzel's long hair is "magical" and "princess like".
I think the emotion in the scene where her hair is cut is probably slightly lost on younger kids... And it's more traditional for women to be seen as feminine with long hair.

Fat?! Sit the fuck down. And if you knew anything you'd know that disney refuses to hire anyone under 115lbs. They have to look healthy and cute, and not like walking skeletons. Its all about being a good influence to little girls.

Oh thats rich. Have you seen the size of Jasmines waist? Maybe the good folks at Disney should start drawing their female characters with more realistic proportions before they start getting uppity about only hiring chubbies hurrrrr.

Fact. There's a whole (albeit beautifully decorated and organized) process to being hired for Disney parks/Disney in general. In high school, a friend really wanted to work for Disney Florida. They immediately sent her an embossed folder with their college program info/info on park jobs in it. I forget exactly what she wanted to do or really whether she settled on one thing since she was considering the college program but the process was similar for each job. Interview periods, audition periods, intro/training periods, and just a ton of stuff lead by a few people and dressed up Disney style BEFORE you got to the actual hiring.

It doesn't make sense for them to scout. They want sort of blank canvases. They're looking for people that are good, probably hella wholesome, actors who know about the park. They have top tier costume people and make-up and they don't want someone who was born LOOKING like they can play Cinderella. I suppose that would help, kind of. But they want someone who a. WANTS to play Cinderella badly b. is willing to wear a wig in hot weather/makeup/do what it takes to look and act the part.

I know that for the most part I look like a traditional Disney princess - I’m white. BUT I think my body type is underrepresented. I want princesses with curves and round faces, like me! Also, wouldn’t it be nice for a modern-day princess to have braces?

The main reason I dislike Disney so much, is that I feel as if it teaches little girls that the only way they will ever be happy is when their prince charming comes to save them.

NEWS FLASH

Not every guy who kisses you is a prince charming. Also, you don’t need a man to save you, in fact, no man can truly save you. Save yourself. Follow your own dreams, with or with out a guy. You don’t need a man!

Also, it gives little girls unrealistic body standards. When I was little, I felt inadequate because I wasn’t skinny and had a little bit of “pudge.” Now, I am comfortable with my body. It took me a while, but now I realize that I am beautiful. Every girl is beautiful!

If and when Disney shows a lot more diversity, maybe then I’ll be a fan again.

But for now, I’ll just enjoy the gasps and confused looks that I get when I stroll around with my pink hair and blue lips telling people that I kind of hate Disney.

Do you have any idea how many fags work for Disney?

That was probably one of the most interesting facets of working there, as there is undoubtedly a huge number of conservative Christfags and then actual legit fags working for Disney, side by side, every day and for the most part everyone just behaves very civilly towards one another. The LDS kids in my program located one another immediately and formed a cadre, like before they even touched ground in Florida.

You're right that they don't scout, but they do have location auditions in some major cities, and they (used to, not sure if they do anymore) send out recruiting reps for the Disney College Program to largish campuses and have regional auditions for people who want to do Entertainment in DCP. For any of the skill-based positions like food prep or BBB or Photopass you need to have some kind of background in that skill, but if you don't really care and just want to work at Disney for a semester they just give you a personality-based interview.

On the form you check off like 3 or 5 jobs that you're interested in. I actually had custodial on there because as gross as it is, it sounded interesting. I actually "failed" the interview for custodial because I didn't know that if a kid drops an ice cream in front of you, you're allowed to give them a voucher to get a new one.

>mfw when I said I'd give the kid some napkins.
