I'm looking forward to the lolita fashion show! The local comm seems really pumped up about it and the coord previews that have been posted on Facebook so far are super cute.

I'm going to be there, won't be cosplaying Eyebrows though, as I couldn't find the time to dye my hair. I'll be cosplaying Yoshika Miyako from Touhou.

Gonna be an interesting weekend.

I know this is last minute, and a bit desperate, but with the con ending so late Sunday, we can't go over the pass.
So our options are to either leave really early, pay for another night to leave first thing the next morning, or to crash with someone else.

So my question is, would anyone want to shelter a seagull and his two friends for the night? We'd just be sleeping after the con ends, and leaving first thing in the morning. Hell, I'd give you a tip, if that helps.
Together it'd be two guys and a girl, ages 18-21 or so.

Also, it seems that PDX has been blossoming with new conventions to cosplay at.

They will be have the Wizard World Portland Comic Con, Wonder NorthWest, Rose City Comicon, Retro Gaming Convention (I covered that and there were some cosplayers), KumoriCon, Newcon, and a couple Portland Zombie Walks.

People should post photos of the cosplay you will be wearing. I'll keep my eyes out for you!

Day 1 was surprisingly fun! My camera is shit so I couldn't get any decent pictures but oh my god everyone in the lolita fashion show was so cute ;_;

I went on Day 1 (pic related). It was a small con, but it was adequately-run and had a good atmosphere. Wasn't terribly bothered by all the Homestucks; rather, I actually thought it was kinda cool seeing them wander the streets of Portland when I went to get some food.

NewCon PDX has a lot of potential, and I hope it becomes a regular event.

The costume overall was really messy. Pretty sure it's supposed to be the main girl from Shugo Chara.
The wig actually had a lot of white streaks in it, like candy or something - it's not just the lighting.

Well with as small as the con was, costumes weren't a big focus.
I mean the only two noteworthy ones there was Aion girl with the wings, and the Halo group.
Most everyone else seemed to just be in casual costumes.
Ah well - I still had a great time.

I was surprised by the amount of photographers there. I mean, for a first year con of this scale.

There really wasn't that much to photograph. It made me look forward to SakuraCon though :)

I really enjoyed this convention! It was pretty much just a congregation of all of my friends, with the added bonus of amazing staff and fun panels. This con offered me a lot of new opportunities like hosting a panel, hosting the Cosplay contest, and being able to walk in the lolita fashion show (thank you to my lovely friend for dressing me in her coord!)
Overall 10/10: I just really liked everything about it. It helps that I have amazing friends <3

Now the Party Pope, Man Tifa and myself are already making plans for Sakuracon / Newcon '13.

There was a man who was being a belligerent sexual harasser to most of the women at the con, and he was escorted from the premises by the police. Myself and Meep ended up sharing an elevator with him and his police escort as he was being led out and he was definitely a creepy ass motherfucker.

Newcon was pretty great, went there from Idaho mainly for the Best Bout room (thought there would be a tournament with a prize pot) and to chill with Oregon Marvel players. However, the rest of the convention was quite a nice side-attraction, especially for a first con. Met some pretty bro people, turns out the DJ was also a MvC3/Street Fighter player.

Was very pleasently surprised by this con! I went because my girlfriend was going and ended up making some great friends with some seagulls who I had spoken with before at meetups but never really got to know.

The staff were also total bros, and the maid cafe was the single greatest panel I've ever been to at any con.
