Due to problems with the colours. The "inside" of the jacket will shed bits of furry fabric. Don't mistake it for discolouration/colour bleeding. Use a piece of tape remove the fluffy bits. The first picture they show an example of what happens when they soak the jacket overnight (the red fluffly parts showing on the white furry portion). This is normal so you shouldn't be alarmed when washing your jacket.

>About bad cosmetics.
>buying cosmetics from Asia is that they only have a tenth of the cosmetic regulations we have here in the US.
Actually, it depends on which country in Asia you are referring to. Developed places like Japan have more regulations in place. China, on the other hand, is so overpopulated that it becomes difficult to regulate things. That is why people can get away with using black hair to make soya sauce and inserting melamine into milk and goodness knows what.
Are there reliable products from China? Maybe. Are there unsafe products from China? Definitely. Do you want to take the risk? Think about it yourself. Personally I wouldn't. If it's Made in China but for a reputable company then it won't bother me.

>About animal parts
Some traditional/superstitious Asian people believe in consuming animal parts to cure illnesses/boost your immunity/make you healthier. For example some people think that if you eat pig's brain soup you'll be smarter. If you eat chicken legs your legs will be stronger. etc. That could be why some of the weirest animal parts are being sold, maybe the animals are difficult to hunt and they wanna eat it to boost their health. Most of these aren't scientifically proven to work *i think*. My granny believes. She said I was taking really long to learn to walk when I was still toddlin' and she fed me chicken/frog leg porridge everyday till I could walk

Cosmetics sold on taobao have no regulations at all. Even if there are lots of good reviews you don't know if there's some substance in them that will damage you in the long run. These products go through no testing and no checks. Customer reviews does not equate scientific tests.
During the melamine scare, most people didn't know that the milk was poisoned and it has been used by food manufacturers all over the world for quite a while before it was discovered.

>>6493831
I didn't read any of the reviews earlier. It seems like some people do have problems where the entire white portion gets dyed red in the wash. I don't know if the customers are telling the truth, the shop is telling the truth, or there is just miscommunication between them. Buy at your own risk.

I did not say that this applies for products from China only. However, this thread is about taobao shopping, so I don't see why we have to talk about products outside of Taobao that go through no testing. Please read what I am saying carefully. Products on Taobao don't go have to go through testing in order for it to be approved for sale. You can end up with something that was not tested, that contains chemicals that damage you in the long run without any immediate aesthetic symptoms. Everyone is free to buy what they like, but the risk is still there, and it is up to you as a consumer to decide if you want to buy it.

I'm not the anon that you replied to, but I just wouldn't buy cosmetics from Taobao anyway. Like you said, there's regulation on consumer products and anyone that doesn't buy them because, "omg China is so shady!" is retarded. BUT there's nothing stopping shady shops from making bootleg stuff that hasn't been tested. That's the same everywhere. Since most of us don't speak Chinese, it's hard to tell what's bootleg or not, so I think it's prudent to not buy cosmetics from there unless you are absolutely sure of what you are getting.

Taobao group orders really are not cost effective to be honest, especially when there are cheap shipping alternatives like airmail and SAL

If you only want one or two things (I'm assuming that's why you want to join a GO) you could probably also just get them from ebay

In addition to paying the SS fee, you will probably also need to pay the GO organizer fee, and shipping from them to you, as well as a chunk of the GO shipping that may not be proportionally fair (because who knows what kind of heavy stuff everyone else is buying?)

tl;dr don't do it

With all the fees and split shipping costs and then shipping to me from the GO holder, I paid as much (fuck, if not a few bucks more than) if I had just placed the order myself. The do accept Credit/Debit for putting money in your Yoybuy account. Credit/Debit does seem to require that you verify through the card's/bank's website.

As for stock reliability, I don't believe they've lied about anything. They have, however, canceled fake items or items which were a deposit then required a larger sum. Anytime they've cancel, I've been notified with the reason and refunded. Once, a seller had two versions of an item (boxed and unboxed) and they contacted me to which one I wanted.

Last time I did an order with pruany, I found their English was really limited. They used to respond to messages within half an hour (which is why I first started using them), but I don't think they do that anymore. Last order, it took them a week just to refund an item and that really delayed my order.

They use a web cart now, instead of a spreadsheet, which I personally dislike because it doesn't show you a thumbnail of the item or tell you which items you left a message on. Though I do like being able to upload an image of the color/style I want.

I've always used SAL when ordering through them, but I think they offer discounted EMS and Airmail as well.

As for photos, I asked for photos of two items in particular. Pruany assured me they'd take a picture of the entire order after it arrived, but then they shipped it without sending any.

Given how difficult they made my last order, in terms of communication, I probably won't be dealing with them again. It's a shame because they used to be one of the better SS, imo.

Hi spread sheet anon. I’ve used Dollypoddle a few times, so i'll give a semi detailed rundown

~English and communication~

Like the anon above said, she’s very fluent in English. Not perfect and there are very uncommon incidences where this caused confusion for I/others, but this is rare.

Now, when it comes to communication it is important to remember that she is a one-person army. During normal times response time’s a couple of days. During busy times this can be longer. I just looked at her FB and some people are waiting a week for replies.

She herself has said that contacting her on FB is better. LJ response time can take several days, as she does not check this as much.

~Ordering system ~

You can order via LJ or FB, via comment or PM. You can ask her for an estimate. She has her service fee formula posted on her LJ.

She has a template on her LJ, saying what info she needs. Use that when ordering from her.

cont...

>> No.6496359

>>6496358
~Forms of payment~

Paypal

~Shipping methods~

Default is Hong Kong Airmail. I’ve seen people use EMS with her.

~SS fees~

Item below 500RMB: HKD50$ (listed as USD$6.61)

Item Above 500RMB: 9%

She adds on a 3% charge from Taobao, she did explain this but I can’t find where.

~Pictures?~

No, ask and she’ll check the items over though.

~Stock reliability~

Good I guess? She’ll PM the seller if the item’s out of stock to see if they have any left, or if/when they’ll restock. Otherwise she’ll ask you to find it again in another shop.

~How to contact~

Use FB, not LJ. See communication.

cont...

>> No.6496361

>>6496359

To clarify, items below 500RMB are charged at HKD$50 PER item

~Misc~

Polite

Will refund left over money, I’ve seen her refund $1

Patient-will deal with lots of trivial questions, happy to PM sellers without commitment to buy.

Overall: DP is one of the more expensive SS out there. I use her when buying Lolita as she’s knowledgeable in the hobby and has grown to know the lolita shops very well and how they and buying from them can be different.

I would recommend her: To lolitas looking to buy main items like dresses, blouses etc, particularly ones that require your own measurements.

Consider another good SS for: Cheap, non-Lolita goods and Lolita accessories unless you don’t mind paying higher fees.

Not related to anything, but I've used Dollypoddle before, and the whole buying experience felt really strange, to be honest?
Long story short: I bought items off her because I was going to HK anyway (where she's based), she suddenly had to go out of town when I was there and I had to meet up with her mom who spoke no English (I know nothing of Cantonese and my knowledge of Mandarin is really, really basic) and I only found out about this just about 2 days before I left my country. It wasn't really anyone's fault, but it kind of soured me on her, tbh.

It depends on the stores you're ordering from. If it's clothes that are made to order it could take a few weeks if the shop is slow

Like, seriously, the only complaints against Dollypoodle and Celestial Delinqent is that they have higher fees and take longer because one-woman businesses
They depend on good feedback more than other actual companies, they can't afford to rip people off

Wow, that's surprising to hear and pretty shitty of her to dump that on you. I don't know what else to say. She's always stuck me as as responsible.

>>6496568

Depends really. It is 'normal' in the sense that if item is made to order/customised it can easy take that long, if not longer. Lolita shops often take this long; I waited a month on Surface Spell and two on HMHM. What did you order? If it was something that's 'instant shipping' e.g. stationary, normal clothing, then it really shouldn't take that long to reach her, even during the holiday period.

I've noticed that she's slowed significantly in her response time lately, presumably this is because it's x-mas.

And you bring up a valid point actually about her not updating you. She won't, unless you ask her. I don't know about other SS (i've used Spree before, they didn't) but DP basically only updates you when she's got something to report, i.e. she's got the item/out of stock/package sent etc.

Just be careful of bugging her too much, what with that secret that got posted on btb a while back of her blowing her fuse. Whilst she is patient, she definitely has a limit.

Charmbuy is actually ok if you speak Chinese. They get frustrated as well with the language barrier and don't want your buisness as much since it takes them much more effort. And they're not being rude with "well that is your problem", I think they're trying to ask "what's wrong?" since that's the literal translation.

About cosmetics and taobao.

I really would like more opinions on this. I said this on the last thread already, but I've been dying to try Japanese Cure. Other hoarder anon here, what's wrong with this? Like, what makes it any different than, say, vintage clothing? If it's kept clean and worn sparingly (which I assume it is, since they probably, like me, have such a large collection of clothing that it's hard to wear anything out) and stored well, how is it different than wearing clothing from the 60s you got at a vintage store that was kept in the same conditions?

yeah, probably is gross. a lot of tops were really only worn a handful of times or even just once... or never. things like jeans or sweat pants obviously got more worn and had to be thrown out, but a lot of t-shirts seem normal. i still do wear 1 or 2 of them from about 8 years ago. idk, but only my socks have ever gotten holes in them, and like one t-shirt.

Not this anon, but I have clothing from 10+ years ago, and it is fine. Not thinning or raveling or any shit like that.
Hell, I still have a t-shirt I got from my pre-school, and it is fine, the screen print is not even cracked.
I through shit out if it has holes, or stains that don't come out. I guess I just use mild detergent and take good care of things.

Personal rant, but I guess my family did start falling into financial problems during my highschool years, and I had enough clothing that I hardly used anything from before that, so why buy new clothing when the old stuff is perfectly fine?

By "not a huge deal," I mean in comparison to what is shown on TV. Luckily I am also extremely phobic of illness, so everything is clean and sanitary, and my hoarding is pretty restricted to clothing and paper goods while my fiance's is electronics and electronic parts, neither of which pose a sanitary threat. I guess I worded it poorly, I'm not trying to say it isn't "bad," but we are very clean and relatively tidy people who are simply unable to get rid of anything in those general constraints and suffer from a never-satisfied drive to obtain more.

Is tonight hoarder anonymous night or something?

There is a big difference between what they're doing and vintage clothing.

1. If you have clothing from 5+ years ago along with more recent clothing and you can't even wear your recent stuff because you're wearing clothing from 5+ years back, that's an issue.
2. If you can't get rid of clothing from years past in order to make room to wear more recent clothing, that's a problem.
3. If you're wearing clothing that you started wearing back during puberty, there's no way that's in the same condition as vintage clothing. It's just not going to happen.
4. If you've got so many clothes that you can't wear 50% or more of it within the space of a month, you definitely need to consider donating/selling off some of it and throwing out what's beyond saving.
5. If you can't do step 4 or get upset at the very thought of it, you need an intervention because you're a hoarder and that's a mental illness.

So here's an update to something I was talking about last thread:

My taobao order supposedly got here on 12/8 and I got a 'We Missed You' slip despite the fact that there were people home to answer the door and it needed to be signed for. No matter, I head to the post office on 12/15 to get the package. They can't FIND it and tell me to leave my number so their supervisor can call me back about it. They never call, never answer when *I* call. An anon gives me the Mail Theft form and I fill it out a few days later.

Out of curiousity, I look at my tracking for the package. It now says that they attempted to deliver the package on 12/15. The day I was there. The day I also had people home to sign for a package anyway. I update the form letting them know that APPARENTLY happened and I get a new tracking notification this morning that OH

ON 12/15

MY PACKAGE

WAS SENT BACK

it depends on which shipping you use, generally. i bought more expensive clothing and craft stuff, and i bought some fairly heavy things. i used ems with taobaoring. it totaled about $10 for an item that cost $5, but i didn't actually weigh the items. i divided the shipping + fees by the number of items and added it to their cost.

the metal studs, spikes, and such added a lot of weight to that order.

another order of just a heavy-ish lolita coat and hat was $70. with ems shipping and fees, the total only came to $80 something. not so bad. i'm sure SAL is barely noticeable with a lot of items.

I always get custom as much as possible, to the point that I just send in a body chart and my measurements for each piece even if I don't know if a shop does custom. I have had... 2 bad experiences: a Kidsyoyo JSK that the arm scythes were not pulled up enough for the cup alteration, so they gapped and an HMHM JSK that was really big in the bodice, the straps were too long, and also had gaps. However, this is only 2 pieces out of dozens that have had issues (and really compared to how the ready-made sizes fit, it was negligible other than the HMHM JSK straps being way too long). The key to getting great custom fit pieces is to go to a professional to have a sizing chart made up. Go to your nearest tailor/alteration shop and bring a body chart/show them examples of the clothing you are getting custom, and they will fit you. I cannot ever recommend fitting yourself. If you're a novice, even a waist measurement might be incorrect due to lack of knowledge of how tight the tape needs to be/if it's parallel to the floor/etc. I wear my custom fit taobao pieces so much more than my brand pieces for comfort as well as the fact that a tailor fitted garment is always going to look better on your body than something that is ready-to-wear. Hope this helps.

They refunded me domestic shipping which they had charged too much (this money went to pruany's balance) and then they refunded me overcharged international shipping fee to my paypal. I have read lot's of neutral reviews of pruany, but my experience was very positive. I'm now ordering through yoybuy and i have to say that i like pruany's webcart so much more.

plushies http://iamigo.taobao.com/?spm=2013.1.1000126.3.1LZTt3
shorts http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.0.218.f38f00&id=8873969461
shirts http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.0.114.75623&id=14249453356& and http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.17.47.ec43&id=19474928601&

quality with all items was fine, i would say shorts are the worst quality and they are same level as h&m etc. They were also really cheap, i got them while sale. Im little bit disappointed with the more expensive blouse, both blouses are really thin and little bit see-through.

accessories are from red maria & fox cherry. They are all really nice, but it took almost 4 weeks to get items from fox cherry.

Also the headbow, thanks!

i just used a visa card to pay for my yoybuy order, and they didn't ask for my phone number. well, they did, but it was optional.

The hat is from fox cherry and it's unfortunately sold out right now, but the link is http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.17.16.ae3e20&id=15507707230&

The quality is ok, my only complaint is that the hat isnt really sturdy. It has 2 alligator clips inside. Anchor thing is like a patch, it isnt sturdy either. But i like it a lot and i can recommend fox cherry's accessories qualitywise (the black head band with clock is also from fox cherry).

Headbow is from Red Maria http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.0.87.3337d7&id=18407776686&

I bought a pair (listing is for one) and these are really cute! The striped part is kinda floppy, it's not satin ribbon like the blue part. It still keeps it's shape. Bows have that awful star thingy like in last picture, i just took it off and scraped the glue off too :P

Thanks for the info on the little bows! I figured I would have to take off the star but good to know the ribbons aren't fraying and cheap. Would you say the color is true to the picture?

I don't know how well fitting a t-shirt you want but sometimes they're available for young boys and those usually fit me well (flat chest).

Yeh colour is true to the picture, it's navy blue. The ribbon is slightly lighter blue than the striped part, but it's really small difference!

Got my order yesterday. Took less than 20 days by singapore airmal, wasn't expecting it to be so quick.
Everything fits really.... weirdly.
The cat and angel shirt aren't very long, and the shoulders are weird.
The cross shirt is very long, but the sleeves are tiny! I guess they aren't meant to go all the way to the wrist.
The leggings are fine and the print is clear, but I'd recommend them for someone under 5'4" and about 115-120 lbs. Any more and the print will start getting see-through.

my stuff from red maria were also glued on using some weak adhesive that drops off easily so I am like super careful with them in case the pearls fall off >_>
