Par for the course for this con that I bring a Luffy cosplay and have fun lol

Logistics, Playing DDR, Cosplaying the Doctor, DJing the dance, and generally having a great time. I'm really excited.

Generally mingling with everyone I know.

I'll be cosplaying Iori Yagami and Antonio Lopez.

My group and I are going together. I'm pretty excited to see some of my NorCal friends there and some of the nice people I met last year.

Going to be doing Ragnarok Online with bf Friday night and Saturday morning and will be handing out the "Ragnarok Survivor" Ribbon. Saturday afternoon will probably be Three Caballeros with my Donald and Panchito then Hungary for passing out the Hetalia Historian ribbon.

Can't wait to see everyone! Will be baking up a storm the couple nights before the con. Also looking forward to actually trying for ribbons this year, too since I've only ever had one.

Of course rooms are still going to be available. It's common practice that hotels will only supply a certain amount of room blocks due to capacity and fire regulations. They like to keep it somewhere around the 60-65% mark during the off-season and 75-80% during high travel seasons. 90% would be a wet dream for them, but that's just not possible the majority of the time. Also, there are always extra rooms available if you know how to ask for them. You might not get the con block discount, but you'll still be able to get a room somewhere in the hotel.

Pool deck is being badge-checked this year. The interesting thing is that it's supposed to be taken care of by hotel staff and not convention staff. Con staff is supposed to be monitoring the hotel folks to make sure they aren't too heavy-handed or discourteous to con-goers, but I still bet there's going to be a few... choice encounters.

I'm also in a similar situation. We were supposed to have around 5~6 people in our room but one dropped out due to last minute school stuff and 3 other people i asked to fill his spot didn't give me their answer until today. So we only have 3 people in a double for sure and 2 people are undecided.

Sooo Myself and my buddy just decided we are going, it will be his first con as he just got into anime a year or two ago. I'm not bringing any costumes, and he of course doesn't have any. We are both 24, level headed dudes and might be looking for a place to crash on any of the nights. What are the chances we will be able to find a room? We'll have enough cash to pay to crash, also 420 friendly, and would gladly smoke out our hosts. Not particularly looking to make an arrangement on here, just curious what the likelihood is that we'll be able to find a room.

Also, what can I expect from the dances? What kind of music, and what kind of crowd? I remember going to the AX dance and being absolutely disgusted. The main stage of major raves with 5,000+ people smelled infinitely better than that putrid wasteland, it was truly an appalling experience.

Dances are pretty good. The music's diverse, the people range from clubbers and dancers to the average con goers. As for the body odor, it's all up to attendees. Not much we can do about that.

Cons typically have ONE thread they're confined to. I'd understand if it was a tripfag posting in every single thread saying "hey come to our convention", but it's following the typical convention thread path. You post about the con, you arrange meetups, you plan out cosplays, you give out any necessary info about the venue/convention that is asked of you. That's it. It happens in nearly EVERY con thread. People tend to get mad at it because there seems to be some Tripfag status quo that everybody believes exists.
