I might as well wear a pile of ruffles all weekend.

It's going to be my first Katsucon but i'm really excited. I just hope I can get everything done on time - there are still a few months left but i'm a slow sewer and have a lot to make. If I run out of time I'll drop the Chii costume, but all the others are in progress and i'm 100% they will be making appearances.

I haven't decided what days which costumes are going to be worn but that will get figured out later. I do know i'm going to wear a mountie uniform on Thursday just because.

Gosh I am excited for Katsu! I had so much fun last year. I'm overbooking myself a touch, since I am a SUPER SLOW worker. But Junko, Naoto and Ameto are all in progress so I'm feeling good! Not sure when I'm wearing what but I'm really excited for all of these characters.

My boyfriend and I are doing our first AA at katsucon. Unfortunately I have to start thesis research a week after so February's going to suck.

Breaking away from my friends when I get there for most of the weekend, need to improve photog skillz by being completely focused and find people to shoot on a spur of the moment type thing. Walking around alone a majority of the time should be interesting, especially since when I make new friends I wont be able to hang much. Hopefully I'll be too busy and having fun to care or notice though.

Katsucon is a cosplay photographer's wet dream. You're gonna love it.

This will be my first Katsucon too, It looks really nice and I heard the hotels are pretty fancy, so that's a plus. But I also heard it's a pretty small con. Either way, it's gonna be fun and I'm really excited!

Hancock's my only new costume for this con, haven't actually started, but the whole thing won't take that long. I'll probably just struggle a tiny bit with her snake.

My 4th choice, I really don't know who to lean towards, but Sayaka's not really con ready, it'll probably take a day of fixing up though. Chie's not as accurate as it should be, but no one will probably notice unless they actually know all the details. Pascal and Erica are pretty much ready to go..

Amateur level cosplayer here, did a really basic bare bones Souma Haruto at NYCC which I was kinda disappointed in but a lot more people than I expected recognized me and gave me lots of props so I'm improving it for Katsucon. Even more hype for the Tokusatsu photoshoot and the fact there's gonna be at least 1 Wizard there. Someday I'll have the skills and time to actually make my own toku suit but for now I'll just do what I can manage.

I'm having a friend help me out with Narukami. Progress hasn't really begun yet but I really hope this turns out well. Wanna do honor to the Broswagonist!

Ugh. As someone who has lived in this river her whole life I would not recommend it. There is a thick black sludge on the bottom of the river instead of sand because of garbage, sewage, and every gross thing imaginable flowing into it. It smells like acid and feces. And now there are fucking sharks.

If you have any light colored clothing it will get stained permanantly and smell. Believe me, it's happened to me before.

If you want to jump in a river for a shoot, I suggest you find a safer-and preferably cleaner-river for that.

The Gaylord has pretty swanky bathrooms. I think the shower and toilet is its own separate room, you can jamaican shower there if you stuff the bottom of the door with towels and run the shower with hot water

Can't say anything about ice rinks, however I know a lovely place for bingo nights on Friday located in Oxen Hill suburbia hell. We drove by that place a few times the first year Katsu was there and the signage for getting down to the riverfront was shitty. Yep

I've heard Katsu has been cracking down/strict about prop weapons. I have a small plastic sword (14" or so) I was planning on toting around, but I'd rather not get crap for it. The con guidelines make it sound like NO bladed weapon of ANY kind is acceptable.

Im really excited about both of these costumes. I was originally going to cosplay Barbarian, but I don't like showing skin, and I suck at making armor. The only down side to Leah is that i have to change my needle out offend. Got the fake leather, fake fur, linen... But its worth it. Im even making her jewelry.

I know that the Hellsing anime will always be in the OVA's shadow, but I personally enjoy Seras in blue more than yellow. Finally retiring the Carnal Mustard uniform, yay!

I'm hosting another Tenchi panel, hopefully some of the same people will come again. I really enjoyed the crowd I had last year.

I think that goes for live steal. If it's plastic, and they put that stupid tie around it I'm sure you will be fine. Yes, Katsu is known for being dicks about the weapon policy, but as long as you aren't breaking any rules I don't see the problem. The rules state that i cannot have a nerfgun, even if it can no longer shoot. So I'm using a non-projectile toy gun for the base of my prop. Technically I'm following the guide lines, but who know... all it takes it one control freak staff member to say something.

I updated my image cos the Thor group is postponed and I was turned down for a panel I applied as kanaya so I have no obligations to grey it up, and can just do whatever I want with less-popular fandoms! I'm a bit sad that I'm not doing any Hetalia, but I'm waiting until I have made my uniform accurate and get a better wig.

So how's everyone else's preparation going? I unfortunately am paying dearly on shipping for my zentai because I was a lazy shit who forgot it takes forever to get here. Other than that, things are chugging along!
