I'm a mid-30's fat bearded man. I jumped on here this morning for a couple of ideas because I stand to gain something quite interesting.

A friend of mine purchased two tickets to PAX in Melbourne next year - but has had his partner cancel - so he has a spare.

He's invited me to have said ticket - but I *HAVE* to cosplay otherwise it's a no go.

I'm the guy that normally raises an eyebrow at a kid who's in full garb like some kind of modernized ninja, but if its a free ticket to PAX and the ability to get roaring drunk in Melbourne - I'm seriously considering.

In case you haven't noticed anon, most normalfags would consider spending hundred of dollars on a single costume to go on a pilgrimage to a convention with more people who wear said costumes of Japanese characters and cartoons is pretty 'fantastical' too.
Not being mean, but I think some of you have lost touch with overall reality. If someone didn't know the scene and saw a fattie with a bad character in a crowd full of weirdos playing dress up, bets are they're not going to think the fattie is the only messed up one.

On the unattractive / bad cosplay topic, I think there are two schools of thought here:

To some people, this is about funny/embarrassing pictures. There are some pictures that you first have to fully take in before they become funny. Not so, with most of these. They're just funny when you see them. You know they're funny before you think about why. In something as obviously visual as cosplaying, if your body shape or face or skin colour is other than what it should be for the character, it's going to look off.

Then there are those who see mainly the technical side to it; those who see cosplaying as a stylistic challenge. To these people, the humour or embarrassment comes from those with bad handiwork, those who made terrible choices, or those who just didn't put the effort in.

Anon isn't a bitch shes right. If you REALLY want to take pride in your cosplay and do a good job you gotta be smart. I mean i love sooooo many characters, but i have to limit myself on who I can and can't cosplay as and choose accordingly to my body type so i look like them.
