Now that this is official, let's have an all encompassing J-Fashion coordinate help thread! Post pieces you need help coordinating or general cute coordinates and outfits you find to help inspire. Go!

I'd love to see some sexier outfits. For the past while I've been into cutesy and punk stuff which has resulted in most of my clothing being over sized and not super flattering.I'd buy this dress if it wasn't so short that my butt would be hanging out.

Oooo finally!

This shirt please? I know I'm lame - I bought a shirt and I don't even know how to coord it properly. I tried a light skirt with a belt and a cardigan - light pink skirt was too light, and the black cardigan didn't look good.

Apologies if this is not j-fashion. I just want a cute Asian fashion coord?

>> No.6456600

Keep it to one thread. I've been seeing threads pop up way too often on general j-fashion(one on c-fashion, which isn't even allowed), the rules are going to pertain it to being as bare minimum as possible. Here: >>6449917 Please search back before posting new threads. The janitor that gets appointed will hopefully be deleting the excess threads.

>> No.6456609

>>6456600

Wait, so technically that means all lolita coord threads will now have to be shifted to general lolita?

... pardon me, but I honestly don't see how that's a good idea. Coords are a big enough topic by themselves.

>> No.6456615

>>6456574
wow, this is so cute! does this style have a name or is it just a gyaru type of style?

inb4 not all fashions have to have a name. uniqueness, personal style, etc. i'm just curious if it does or not.

No, lolita can be posted in it's own individual threads. This is a lolita(and cosplay) board, not a j-fashion board. Moot clearly stated that all "j-fashion" needs to be kept to one general thread. It's allowed under those pretenses.

I agree keep it to one thread.

I don't know much about gyaru so I'm not sure what sub style it's called but It's a liz lisa dress. All their stuff has a similar look if you want to see more of it.

No. The other thread is a J-fashion general. This is a co-ord thread. You're not going request for all cosplay-related threads to be in one gigantic general. There are separate threads for specific things i.e. wigs, circle lenses, sewing tutorials, ect.

actually, i do think now that 2 threads are okay. just bear in mind, that this is a *cosplay* and *lolita* board, so don't let jfashion overrun the board. i love jfash but let's be considerate to others, and keep in line with what moot said at the same time

I don't think there's any need to be "considerate" since it's not like anyone really hates these threads. Most lolitas are into J-Fashion as well, and a coordinate thread is different than a general thread, and will keep that one from filling up too fast. The only people who might mind are those who are strictly cosplayers and they can suck it up and hide the thread.

That's cute but the colours are kind of eccentric so it might be difficult to coordinate. I would wear a white or cream cardigan with it and either pink or light beige pants (the skirt might work too when you wear it with a light-coloured cardigan?). it would also look really cute with an (off)white suspender skirt like pic related.

I have this dress coming to me, but I've never really owned many red things until I made this order, so I'm not sure how to co-ordinate. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated <3

also the captcha is eerily close to my last name, creepy.

Oh, also if it was suitable for decently cold weather that would be fantastic. I have a much easier time coordinating for summer.

>> No.6457232

How would you guys coord a lacy cream or white slip dress to make the coord more explicitly dolly, and less cult party/mori looking?

(I don't know if it's just me but it really bugs me when people attach every single style name they can to an outfit, 'moridollycultparty coord!!1'. The styles are their own separate things..)

>> No.6457233

Really stupid question, probably better off in the J-fashion general, but what exactly differentiates a normal outfit from a J-fashion one?

Well for this thread, it would be pieces that come from Japanese clothing stores, or stores with Japanese brands. That's basically what makes it J-fashion coordinates. If it's from a thrift or western store, the idea would be to "make" it into a coordinate that would fall under one of the explicitly Japanese fashions -- mori, dolly, cult party, hime, etc.

>> No.6457249

what is a good place to buy boystyle stuff that i won't need a shopping service for? i know fanplusfriend but i've heard some of their stuff sucks, don't know if it would include this.

>> No.6457250

>>6457233
>>6457238
This is just my opinion, but: Unlike lolita and gyaru, which have specific rules in the silhouette and makeup/styling specifically, it's a lot more difficult to determine this as far as dolly, cult party, mori, and similar newer styles.

A lot of it in my opinion is in the intent- of course you have to have some of the hallmarks of the style included in your coord, but as many people have mentioned there can be a lot of bleed into normal cute asian fashion or boho types of Western fashion. This is especially evident in what I've seen called the 'new' dolly kei, which is a lot more streamlined and trendy than dolly as it was even half a year ago.

>> No.6457259

>>6457249
Unfortunately, Fanplusfriend is one of the only non-brand shops that really carries a variety of boystyle items. There are occasional boystyle items in taobao shops, but not nearly as often.

However, boystyle is fairly easy to create with offbrand western items like slacks and shorts, vests, and normal lolita blouses, and you can alter these items to make them more specifically to the style you'd like by adding lace, pins, the like.

>> No.6457261

i was afraid that was gonna be the answer i got ;_;

i have an okay-sized wardrobe based on western stuff, but i really want a waistcoat-type thing.

>> No.6457264

>>6457250
I kind of disagree, at least with most styles. Mori is definitely one that kind of blurs the lines since it's very Western looking, but dolly kei (though also based off of Western vintage) and cult party are things you would very rarely see in the Western world, at least in every day life. I've personally never seen anyone in real life wearing something I would consider Dolly Kei or Cult Party, even bag ladies. And actually the only people I've seen wearing what I would consider Mori-inspired are Asian transfer students. The thing that makes Japanese fashions distinct is that people actually wear them on a daily basis, they have a widely used name, and there are multiple stores dedicated to those specific styles. I think all of these things make it identifiable as "J-fashion".

sage for slightly offtopic

>> No.6457268

>>6457264
Oh, I don't dispute them typically being stuff you would never see in the Western realm, I was more understanding the question in the sense of 'what makes an x style outfit x style'. Like, what makes an outfit dolly, what qualifies it as mori, etc, and what sets them apart from each other. There are of course specific hallmarks of the styles, but the guidelines are a lot looser than the style specifics of the older and more established ones such as lolita and gyaru.

But I agree with what you said about setting J-fashion apart from Western!

>> No.6457305

Ha, and actually, the rules have been updated.

/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL
>Pictures depicting those in costume play ("cosplay") and elegant gothic lolita ("EGL") dress are welcome.
>Don't bring community drama into this board. Singling out individual cosplayers and trolling them will not be tolerated.
>J-fashion is allowed. Models can be of any ethnicity, but the fashion should be of Japanese origin.
>"What Are You Wearing Today" threads should be cosplay/EGL/J-fashion focused. General fashion threads should be posted to /fa/.
>Health threads belong on /adv/ or /fit/.

So fuck your shit.

>> No.6457327

>>6457325
Read the sticky. I can guarantee you that the janitor is going to go off of the guidelines of deleting multiples of one thread. Look for the thread before you post a new thread on pretty much the same thing.

>> No.6457332

>>6457327
I just did, and Moot did not mention keeping it to one thread even once. I think only one person even said that, and he didn't acknowledge it. It's not in the rules and it's not under the "guidelines." Like someone said, if that's the case we would also have to keep lolita and cosplay to one thread each and it's not happening. We have already had, multiple times, "gyaru threads" and "mori threads" that fill up rather quickly, so there's obviously an interest in having separate threads for J-Fashion. Coordinate help is separate from General just like with Lolita.

Forgot my sage, fuuu. Seriously though, until an official, even if unwritten in the rules, statement is made, I don't see why this should be a problem. At first there may be a lot of threads like this but they'll die down after a while and balance will be restored, if they annoy you that much. I honestly don't see why anyone doesn't like them though. Do you even go here?

>Do you even go here?

>> No.6457475

I think the general consensus was 1 thread per particular j-fashion, so we could have one mori, one gyaru, one dolly etc thread at a time, coord help could go into these threads. i really don't know what the problem would be with like 3 additional j-fashion threads, it's not like this board is constantly losing important threads at the posting rate we have here.
