I disagree with this.
I don't think it has to match perfectly, and it often looks better when it doesn't (but that's just my opinion).
I also disagree with the belt part - your waist is already defined thanks to the vest.

If you want to dress up the outfit, I suggest wearing a blouse with more ruffles, in off-white or cream, and adding a gold(ish) brooch.
Maybe a mustard or brown bolero or cardigan?

I'm generally a gothic or classic kind of girl, so the only things I own are in either black or white. I have AP's Twinkle Ornament in pink coming to my doorstep soon and I don't have much experience with sweet, so I'm not sure if I could pull it off with all white socks/shoes/blouse or if I should invest in pinks which I'd rather not do for just one dress. Personally I'd switch out the blouse for a white one, because there's more pink on the white dress than the black one. Otherwise it looks like it'd be fine. In terms of a bag, I'd go for either a black or a pink one, if you want to be very lolita with it go for one of those bow bags or a satchel with a bow on it otherwise anything will do really.

Speaking as a jewelry maker, you should not buy jewelry from J et J. I use it in collages because it's so gosh darn pretty, but you can make things like that yourself or hire an Etsy artist to make them for way less money. The materials J et J uses are really cheap (tin alloys, base metals, glass pearls, etc) and just not worth the amount they cost.

Just did some basic pink/pink and white coords with a few blouse ideas. I think high collared blouse or scoop neck is probably the way to go rather than peter pan. The two on the right are from Millefleurs, if you look at their website you can get an idea of what they'd look like with a strapless dress, although it'd be cheaper to find similar ones on taobao (rose melody did a really nice one for a while). Bodyline does something similar in pink, but it's SUPER short - like, short on me and I'm 5' 2". I think red is a nice colour to pick out to coord with as well, since you have the matching headbow/socks you could go with red blouse and shoes.

I know where to buy them in LA, but the tulle almost seems too stiff. Just some browsing here and there, so I'm a bit out of the loop on what the latest trends are. Anyways, I'm going to be getting this dress for Christmas and this is what I have together so far. These are all images I found on google of clothes that are very similar to what I already own. I'm having trouble deciding what I should get for a headpiece(besides the bow that goes with the dress) so I came to you. Feel free to make an entirely new coord. I would recommend gray. Gray looks great with pastels. You could use sax blue, lilac, or any other complementary color as well. You can also try some of the cute printed tights that are so trendy right now and pull out a color from those for a blouse and wear pink or white shoes.

I have to agree with some of the other anons, if you don't keep at least some white in your other items it's going to look unbalanced. You can always punch it up with splashes of another color. I used black here to make it pop a bit more, but I think lavender or any shade of blue (sax, royal, navy, etc) would also look very nice.

I know this isn't quite co-ord related, but I'll try and help people who need any ideas in return for some advice.

I'm a newer loli and have finally saved up enough money to put together a respectable outfit. Thing is, I only just ordered most of the items, and I thought the sellers would ship them out no later than 2 or so days after I'd purchased. I bought my dress and coat first to be sure, around the 20th, but the expected delivery dates are around Dec. 3rd because they've only just shipped them, when a meetup I want to go to very badly is before that.

I went to one meet-up in just a nice blouse this summer to meet everyone, but I feel like it would be against some unspoken lolita-rule if I go to another meetup not wearing lolita. Or that it just wouldn't be right. I miss everyone so badly, because they're all so nice, but I feel so distraught. What do you guys think?

Tried a rose theme with the boots and simpler cardigan to go for slightly more classic sweet. Thinking about wearing this to an upcoming event, it's in mid-December so it'll probably be pretty cold, otherwise I'd pick cuter legwear (didn't add it in because it's just plain white socks) and shoes, but I worked with what I have.

In keeping with one of my favorite color combos, pink and brown, I wanted to try something much sweeter with chocolate themed accessories. Again I didn't add legwear because a) it's fucking freezing here and my legs don't show very much when I wear my boots with the jsk and b) I'll probably just wear plain white socks over warm tights anyway.

The jsk I have doesn't actually have those bows, strangely enough. It's literally the same jsk minus the shoulder bows. The seller I bought it from said it came like that, so I doubt they were removed. Probably just a different version of the jsk.

Anyway - this jacket. It's normalfag stuff I bought because it looks so pretty (picture taken in poor light in the middle of the night does not do it justice) and fit me so well... so I thought I could add a few spikes somewhere or similar stuff, and pair it with some black. But I can't find anything to coord it with for the life of me. Only idea so far is a pleated and/or A-line black skirt that goes up to the waist.

I really wish I could find a stock picture of a similar one to make it easier...

If you're buying from brands, they're expensive because they often use a lot of nice fabrics and lace, plus are time consuming to make (you try making a princess seam blouse with peter pan collar, two or three front ruffles and a bib vs. a plain rectangle skirt with waistband and zipper and tell me what's easier). I didn't start wearing proper lolita until I was 19 or 20 despite being interested in it for a while, because I couldn't afford anything - I'm now 22, working full time, and certainly don't feel too old for it. I don't really wear sweet prints any more though, too much being mistaken for a schoolkid. Often the major pieces (dresses, skirts) in this thread will have the brand name on the photo. There are some second hand stores online that sell brand that's usually in very good condition, these are listed on hellolace and you can get very good deals. My favourites are fururun and closet child.

Useful things when buying lolita that I wish someone had told me:
-Sizes are by measurements, S/M/L mean nothing, you should check your own measurements (bust and waist are the most important unless you're over 5' 3", in which case knowing the length of your torso and how long you like skirts to be on you is useful) vs the listed measurements.
-Buy things you love, not just things, otherwise you'll never be happy wearing it
-Know what flatters your body shape - you can't try stuff on online so you have to know what cuts and styles work for you
-No-one cares where your outfit is from, they care how it looks.

No ivory as I don't suit it at all, the blues I have in my wardrobe are navy and moitie blue only. Pic's not me, it's from the seller, but I've been really struggling to do anything except wear it by itself with heels.

Heels, booties, wedges can work really depending on how you accessorize. The blue bodice panel really is hard, but you can try pulling a look in together with moitie blue accessories with the moitie blue blouse/bolero/etc.

It's pretty much been black pumps/black bolero with this dress so far, which is pretty pathetic.

Yellows are a no-go for me - kinda the same with ivory, camel/tan, orange, and greens that aren't bottle green.

I've put it with a couple of my blouses here and also chucked a lilac one underneath to kind of show why it didn't work so well with that. The purple centre piece has come out a lot darker though, it's probably halfway between that colour and the other photo colour in real life.
