for example: I was shooping people on a shoop thread and got banned for pic related. I have received this ban recently (last week).. this cap was from a while back..

Two of my friends have been banned from /cgl/ for not having "high quality posts" enough (basically the mod just wanting to ban people without an excuse) and I was banned once for 14 days for sarcastically telling someone to go back to facebook, claiming I was citing an invasion.

/cgl/ is a small board and while it might be annoying sometimes to deal with off-topic stuff it's a lot better than having some asshole mod crowning himself the officially sheriff of our little board and doing more harm than good.

Luckily I am behind a router and can change my IP whenever I want, so I couldn't give a shit if the moron tries to throw down frivolous bans. But it's still retarded and discourages people from posting here.

these are the actual rules. I've been banned recently for number #2, even though rule #3 is a clear contradiction. Although it was obviously a sarcastic addition (probably around the time our name was changed to /drama/), at the same time it is an acknowledgement that petty girl bullshit is a very integrated part of our board's culture. If every other board gets to have their own shitty aspects, why can't we have ours? It's why I love this place so much.

People touting that it needs to be taken to /fa/-- have you even BEEN there? They don't want these threads and we embrace them with open arms. Wouldn't the issue then be with the other boards that won't let us talk about this shit even though that's "supposed" to be their territory? This board is already extremely narrow in its topic; there is only so much you can talk about something as niche as cosplay and lolita. I think people across the board here mutually agree that other Japanese fashion subcultures and body care general are okay because they are so closely integrated into the topic of discussion here.

I think that the users here are not so much an issue than the fact that the scope of discussion for the board itself needs to be broadened. To me this would be a much better solution than trying to destroy to literally destroy the culture of /cgl/. It's not going to go back to the way it was 9 years ago. It would be beneficial to lessen the reigns on what is, again, an extremely niche topic.

I don't understand deleting make-up threads. Isn't hat part of the basic cosplaying skill set, like sewing? In the early days of /q/, before they made a rule of not taking any board requests, there was a continuous demans to make a /fem/ board - for fashion, hair, make-up, skin care, period threads and no husbando feels. Mootykins said that there is no need for such a board as these topics belong to their respective boards (/fa/, /adv/) and anything else that doesn't goes under a board are automatically distributed to /cgl/. Yet here we are, a few months later, with every fucking thread on these topics being banned out of /cgl/. I am thinking of e-mailing moot and see his standpoint of this. I don't think we need the board topic broadened. /fa/ is male-centric and they're not going to change that, so the logical thing to do is make a female /fa/ equivalent. That's why /cgl/ takes the brunt of makeup and hairstyles and fashion and feminine hygiene threads - it doesn't belong here, but there's no other female-centric board to put it on. Just like there's no "sexy people" board, rather the topic is split between /s/ for attractive women and /hm/ for attractive men.
