I have Asperger's (diagnosed, before anyone complains) and this is one of the things I have never understood. It makes no sense if you think about it. Surely being dedicated to your lover is a positive attribute? I have only been in two relationships, but both ended up because of how ``creepy'' I was. The second girl's parents were really concerned that I would follow her around the kitchen. What am I supposed to do? Am I not allowed near my girlfriend? Nobody taught me what to do in that situation, how should I know?

Maybe it was seen as being controlling and overbearing. Those are things that a person will do in an abusive relationship, and they may have been worried about that being a possibility.
