4am boredom takes hold. Doing Rei for Hyper Japan on the 24th. Figured I'd use some of the leftover material from my Cirno cosplay to figure out how to go about making the skirt for Rei's uniform. I discovered a few things.

>An 18" skirt is going to feel really damn short
>I don't know how to properly make pleats
>Just using a circle of fabric with a hole in the middle probably won't actually work this time
>However this outfit will probably be a lot quicker and easier to make than Cirno's dress

So, not a lot of real progress made, but I learned a few things and that's good too. Gonna figure out how to do things properly when I get fabric for it on Thursday.

Get off of page five progress thread!

Got my halfway decent moonspeak spiderman suit airbrushed, and now applying puff paint to the webbing to give the raised detail.

After getting the airbrushing done, I've resolved to going to this guy for all spandex related matters.

Really? Thanks, I personally aint liking the way the webbing is turning out. If you look at it too closely its too wavy and lumpy.

Still have a lot of stuff to do though, have to attach soles, add lenses. and see what I need to do about the spider emblems, there just too damned big for puff paint.
I'd buy some silicone spiders that I know a few people are selling on the RPF but I highly doubt they'd match up to my moonspeak outfit.

Any tips or advice?

Mistry, the puff paint has a bit of stretch to it, however I'm using a styrofoam head to pin the mask on and stretch it out as I'm applying it, letting it dry, and going to another spot, this way it doesn't crack as I put it on.

Made some progress on four of my five cosplays today.
Finished my shirts for John and Nepeta, as well as Nepeta's horns. John's shirt need's ironed/steamed/something. Anything. lol
Bought an awesome gag knife for Angela, and I think I finally got the pants to the right colour. The wig need some fine tuning though. Not sure what type of shoes I should get for her...
Sakura is mostly done. Need to hem the bottom of the red shirt still and use the left over material to finish the gloves.
My fifth project right now is remaking Selphie. I'm having the hardest time finding the right zipper. Hopefully I'll have more luck this weekend.

First actual progress, I guess. Decided "fuck it I'll start from scratch" after a couple of moderate setbacks. And now I'm thinking that maybe that wasn't the best idea.

Basically it turned out a lot... smaller than I was expecting. I've probably got about enough room on it to give it an inch or so extra on the waist, and it'll probably be about an inch longer overall, but that's as much as I can likely get out of it, and it's gonna look pretty bad.

And now that I'm this far I realise that I've pretty much got the entire size and shape of the skirt wrong, but at this point that's something that I'm just going to have to deal with. Maybe I can adjust the pleats or something. But it will probably be okay and not too terrible. Left to do is the waistband for the skirt, the weird thing at the front of it with the buttons, sew that and the strap things together, and do the collar for the shirt. No picture for this update I'm afraid, but it's just about finished now. I keep remembering more things that I need to do though which is annoying. There's the little thing at the front of the skirt with the two buttons, and the collar for the shirt. But once I've done those and the wig's arrived, it's finished. Such a weird and awkward dress to wear. It's like bizarre dungarees. And it's really short. I hope people don't peek at my pantsu~

I spent all day today making a sock. A SOCK. Not even a pair, just one, single, sock. One very annoying, frustrating sock that has easily been the most difficult part of this costume (so far).

All the trim is hand sewn, but it's unfinished right now. Tomorrow (or maybe later tonight when i'm less annoyed over how complicated this has been) I'll sew the rhinestone trim onto each blue "window" so you don't see the stitching.

I try to/usually draft everything myself. Sometimes (and in this costumes case) I'll steel sleeve patterns and then alter them, but that's about it. I drafted the corset pattern myself, along with everything else aside from the poofy sleeves.
