I bought Cetaphil Fragrance Free Daily Facial Moisturizer, SPF 15, 4-Ounce, 2 bottles of it, because there are lines on my face (wrinkles) because I'm a guy and I never had a facial cleansing routine.

My current routine is cleansing with water OR a cleanser from Clean and Clear, then toning with apple cider vinegar (diluted with water), and then applying Cetaphil Fragrance Free Daily Facial Moisturizer.

I hope this will make me look young and beautiful ;__;

Some review from amazon:

I went to the dermatologist for help with my very dry and very sensitive skin. My dermatologist recommended that I no longer exfoliate due to the sensitivity and try Cetaphil. I'd heard of it before but never wanted to try it.

So I've been using Cetaphil for only a week, and my skin is radiant! My pores are tiny, my t-zone is no longer flaking, I have no more random annoying whiteheads, and my face is absolutely glowing. Even my boyfriend has commented on my newly supple complexion!

The product also doesn't leave my skin looking/feeling oily later on, even in the morning after I wake up. Cetaphil feels very balanced and light while managing to be quite effective. I also like that it is fragrance free -- I do not need the added ingredient on my sensitive face.

I ~highly~ recommend this product if you're still looking for one that works. Wow, what a difference! :)

(For posterity's sake: I wash with just water in the morning, pat dry, and apply a pump to a pump and a half of the moisturizer to my face and neck. Skin does not feel tight with an adequate amount of moisturizer! In the evening, I use the facial cleanser, my Alba Hibiscus toner, and finish with the moisturizer.)

Another review from amazon: I was looking for a daily moisturizer, something with a low sheen or matte-like tone. I was dead wrong with this. This leaves your face greasy, shiny, and worse, sticky.

I'm scared to try this now, I bought two bottles, I might return it tomorrow...

Cetaphil isn't actually any good for your skin. If anything, it's bad for you.

To look young and beautiful, you don't need to be putting chemicals on your skin. You need to make your skin healthy, so you look better and, yes, younger and more radiant and junk. Here is your new skincare routine:

Daily: Cleanse, then tone, then moisturize. Exfoliate 1x weekly after this routine.

Cleanser: Oatmeal cleanser
>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e5_RVBwNjE

Toner:
Lemon juice (for oily skin) OR
Rose Water (for sensitive skin)

Moisturizer:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Honey
(Honey Facial Moisturizer: 2 Tablespoons of honey 2 Teaspoons of Milk. Apply to face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.)

Exfoliator:
Baking Soda & Water

Skin care general thread?

I do what I can to take of my skin, but as of late, it's been nothing but irrtated, dry, blotchy, and my forehead is breaking out like crazy. This didn't start until about 2 weeks ago, either...

I've been using Aveeno line of products for the last couple years, to help with uneven/blotchy and oily skin. It only seems to be helping with the blackheads on my nose at this point. Is it time to switch product brands or...?

Basically shampoo is a detergent, it strips the dirt AND oils from your hair, which is bad because your hair produces more oil to overcompensate. That's why some people have to rotate different brands of shampoo often or their hair gets greasy, sometimes right out of the shower.

Here's a good guide, it even tells you what to do if you have hard water: http://www.how-to-boost-your-immune-system.com/baking-soda-shampoo.html

Personally I prefer to just use bottled water to having to boil all the water I mix up (I make a half gallon at a time of both), it's just easier. And yes, with hard water you have to boil the water for the vinegar mix, too.

Vinegar rinse: http://www.how-to-boost-your-immune-system.com/vinegar-hair-rinse.html

If your hair is still oily and has a rubbery weird texture, you're using too much vinegar. You can use apple cider vinegar OR regular white vinegar, I use the latter and it works just fine.

Keep in mind there is an "adjustment period", you can read more about this with a simple google search (don't want my post too be too long).

Other haircare tricks:
>tea tree oil
great for your scalp, as well as keeping you hair healthy, its anti bacterial and anti fungal. its not great for air loss though

>rosemary
it stimulates circulation as well as destroys bacteria that could be clogging your follicles, considered the "best natural method" for dealing with hair loss

>lavender
also anti fungal and stimulates hair growth

> coriander
anti fungal, treats hair loss, smells really really good.

1tbsp. lemon juice
1cup cold water

>Step 1: Mix together the lemon juice and water.
>Step 2: Saturate a cotton ball with the solution and apply to your face.

You can use straight lemon juice if you have very oily skin, as long as you moisturize after. If the acidity of just lemon juice irritates your skin, water it down.

I always break out right before con. My skin is generally clear and even toned, but inevitably a day or two before con a couple pimples will just emerge on my face. I've been told its from stress, but does anyone know any way to avoid this or a quick fix?

>> No.6393391

>Interesting! But why do I need to boil the water?

Because hard water has more minerals and impurities in it than "pure" soft water. These minerals and such make very difficult for the baking soda to dissolve which would make the mixture ineffective and leave your hair very greasy.

Just a tip :

Tea bags are known to be good for puffy eyes/dark circles but I also tend to use it all over my face or more precisely on problem areas like pimples or redness and unless I'm going crazy, I find it really helpful to reduce the size of a pimple and the redness that comes with it (or just redness in general).

I have oily/mixed skin and it also takes the oil away and leaves a matte finish to my skin without drying it out...which might just be the result of the tea bag being soaked in water, but anyway...it works.

>All you need is oatmeal. That's it! It doesn't matter what brand it is, as long as it is oatmeal. Plain, instant or quick cooking oatmeal? Doesn't matter because either works great. Simplicity is awesome isn't it?

How to cleanse your face with oatmeal
>I take a palm full of oatmeal and I clench my fingers together into a fist. I then run my fist in lukewarm water for about 10 seconds and the water should seep through the gaps in my fingers and soak up the oatmeal. I then open up my fist and drip several drops of water into the oatmeal so it comes saturated and soft. I would then spend about 1 minute massaging the oatmeal on my face. Just a little note, it can be messy so make sure you lean over the sink so the excess oatmeal will fall into the sink and not into your clothes. I rinse the oatmeal off using lukewarm water and pat my face dry.

Oil Cleansing Method gets a bad rep for causing cynstic acne - what do you think about that?

No, as a moisturizer, you just leave it on. Apply it in thin layers and wait for each to 'soak in' to your skin. I hear putting a lot on at once makes it harder for your skin to absorb.

You'll look shiny as fuck, so only put on a little if you're going out, and more if you're just going to be lying around the house.

You can also just google 'coconut oil moisturizer' and get a ton of results and instructions for use.

There are also significant benefits from raw organic honey masks.

Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-infammatory. It absorbs impurities from the pores and the skin. Ancient beauties used honey and milk on their skin regularly to keep their complexion looking young, radiant and smooth. You can use honey as a wash, toner or mask. And you can mix it with so many other ingredients depending on your needs (apples, pumpkin, papaya. yogurt). It’s quite versatile.

Lemon brightens and exfoliates. It’s great for acne prone skin, age and sun spots or uneven skin tone. It is also a natural source of vitamin C and rich in alpha hydroxy acids.

Lime juice adds some collagen boosting vitamin C, some exfoliating alpha hydroxy acids, and some great natural astringent action. Being very acidic, fresh lime juice is great for tightening and toning the skin.

Lavender calms and normalizes, and like all essential oils it is anti-bacterial.

>Here’s how to make the DIY Honey/ Lemon Mask:
Squeeze 1/2 a lemon (organic is always better) into a bowl, add 2 tbsp of honey (0rganic, raw, natural ). Mix it with a spoon until it’s a liquid consistency.
Apply it all over a clean face avoiding eye area.
Leave on for 15-20 min and rinse off.

Before I start, I realize my skin type is different from anyone else's so I am not saying to do this. But I am saying it worked for me. It may or may not work for you.

The type of acne washes I'e used has changed over the years, but the one thing I've been using since 2008 is Oxy Spot Treatment.

It's like gold in a bottle for me.
>What type of skin tone do you have?
Typically my nose is the most oily spot, and my cheeks and chin are dry. I do have a slight eczema rash on my right cheek though.
>Whats your average skin care routine?

Take a shower
Use either Cetaphil or Clean and Clear sensitive acne wash
Pat dry
Use oxy spot treatment all over nose, around mouse and chin.
Use eczema cream on rash
Done
Thats all I do, and have been doing for a couple of years.

I am not saying this will work for everyone.. If anything I'm typical lucky for having the type of skin I have.
Every now and then I will get an annoying pimple/white head that will take awhile to get rid of though.

But I absolutely love Oxy spot treatment~
If you plan on using it, READ THIS.
I have super sensitive skin, and when I first started using this product it made me break out in rashes. So I'd always put some type of moisturize over top of it afterwards. But over the years my skin has grown used to it, so I no longer do that process.
I also realize this probably has a lot of chemicals in it though..

I do enjoy reading homemade remedies on skin care though. I went through my phase of oatmeal and honey.

BUT I stand by my "If it has ingredients you can't readily identify, it doesn't need to be on your face" thing though.

I haven't done that much research on making your own sunscreen or if that's a good idea or not, but I'm definitely gonna look into it more now that it's been brought up.

But the good news is you're not gonna get cancer from regular sun exposure, it's actually good for you All this "sunscreen to prevent skin cancer" is mostly preventative hype. And actually, sunscreen itself presents a risk of cancer depending on it's ingredients, which can sometimes be carcinogens. Vitamin D (which you get from the sun) deficiencies are also linked to cancer.

If you're really worried about it, then avoid the hottest, brightest time of the day and hang out in the shade as much as possible.

Here's my skin of right now. The picture is kind of overblown even though I closed the curtains, but it really has improved a great deal. My skin before was... imagine cracking dry patches, weeping sores greasy nose and forehead, just really bad. Spots and blackheads everywhere.

Obviously if you decide to switch to Dianette consult your doctor first and be sure you don't have a family history of heart problems or clotting. Funnily enough if you have a family history of cervical and womb cancer it heavily reduces the risk so that's another plus.

Compared to olive oil, I found that coconut oil was less acne inducing. I don't cleanse with it, just mix it with a drop of tea tree oil and use it as a moisturizer. The tea tree has a strong odor so I skip it sometimes, but always use it before bedtime. So, overall I think it is alright and wont give you cystic acne if you simply use it as a moisturizer and cleanse thoroughly.

I tried the OCM before, yes it does give you soft skin, but like others mentioned, I inevitably reached the stage where I started breaking out terribly.

no.
do you know how soaps work? like, you'll never clean as much just rubbing something than using a soap. in fact, you're not hardly cleaning at all. water and oil do not mix, water alone cannot remove oil.

what soaps do are they have a hydrophilic and lypophilic (not even going to pretend like those are spelled correctly) head, basically it means one attracts water, one oil. when you wash it creates a "push-pull" motion of the water and oil. and this removes them, while also rolling up dirt stuff into little balls so when you rinse it goes away.
this doesn't happen without soap. you're not removing excess oils from your skin with just water alone. if you don't have excess oils, AKA normal to dry skin this is fine. but if you have combination or normal to oily or oily skin this will not work.

if it works for you that's great, a few people i've dated are like this. where they are fine with just water and a basic moisturizer and have perfect skin- but it's not good to advertise this as a proper cleaning regimen. because for most people it wont be.

>> No.6396069

>>6396031
to exfoliate/remove dead skin
brush your lips with a soft tooth brush and warm water
mix honey and sugar and rub it all over your lips

and to keep them from getting dry again while not obviously wearing ointment on your lips you can make your own lip tint by melting A&D ointment + any lipstick of your choice and pouring that mixture into any old little container.
i hear most people do this with Vaseline but i prefer A&D ointment. it's more... soft, and healing. so if you do have a chapped lip already it will actually help heal it.
i also wear plain A&D ointment almost every night, and put it on while i'm doing my face makeup. so basically it's like
>wash face
>brush lips with tooth brush
>put foundation primer on
>put A&D ointment on face
>do face and eye makeup
>pat off excess ointment and do lip makeup

hope this helps!

A&D ointment is one of the most highly recommended ointments for post-tattoo care. but it's basically just a... rash and dry skin ointment.
it's just really-really-really moisturizing but not in a lotiony rub in and then it's gone way. it's more a a this isn't going to dry out or sink in fully but instead lock in moisture over whatever you put it on way.

i know a lot of people buy it specifically to make lip balms, or to use it on it's own only on the lips. it does basically look like a lip gloss when you put it on.

Some reviews of this product:

I don't know how it took me so long before discovering this gem. I guess my first experience with vitamin E oil wasn't so great as as a teenager with an oily complexion it just felt at the time too thick and sticky. Now i'm my mid-thirties, I can appreciate the thickness and hydration level as my skin is now dry. It gives me a smooth and well hydrated face skin and I also apply it on my hands at bedtime and put on surgical gloves (I know it sounds crazy but it works and I'm not smearing vitamin e oil all over my sheets and pillow) and I wake up with baby soft hands. My dry peeling cuticle problem is long gone.

And:

I just bought this oil a couple of days back and I am loving it already. I have oily skin, moderate acne, and acne scarring. I think it is making my scars lighter, just been 3 days though, can't wait to see the progress. I have white pimples and when I put vitamin e on my acne it subsides by the next morning. I usually wear it after a shower before going to bed. My skin hasn't broken out and my skin feels soft and radiant. Yes, the product is sticky and worth it if it does the trick. So far LOVING IT! Will update on progress.

it's fine to use rags, wash clothes, those rubber pads with little like thingys on them. just don't "scrub" your face with them.

all of those things can promote blood flow, which promotes skin cell turn over, which promotes new skin growth, which promotes healthy skin.

but when you scrub you are damaging the skin on a microscopic level, creating micro-tears that allow bacteria to get inside your skin. this can lead to acne, clogged pores, aging, wrinkles, redness, irritation, it's just bad for your skin.

when using anything, any sort of cloth, pad, rubber face brush, bristle face brush, electric face brush (like the ProX or Clairisonic) or whatever, you should have a "limp wrist". basically meaning if your face wasn't in the way of the whatever is in your hand your hand would just fall down because your wrist is limp. don't apply any pressure with your hand, don't push the brush (or whatever) into your face. let the texture of the whatever do the work, you don't do any more work than gentle massaging the cleanser on your face.

the way i get my hair wavy like that is i curl it, like just normal curl it with a flat iron (i am not good at curling with a curling iron)
and then brush the curls while they're still warm. and then if they still need to be more wavy i will use Smoothing Stuff by Bed Head which is like a lotion for your hair which makes it heavier so it gets even looser.

This might sound counter-intuitive, but try not washing your face more than once a day if you are having unsolvable skin problems. Often we dry out skin out and remove the essential oils.

Wash at night with cleanser, apply cream, put your hair back, and put a new towel or tshirt over your pillow to keep your skin clean. Then, in the morning, either wash with water only, or just apply cream again without any washing.

Also keep makeup use minimal.

this is a good thing to try if like- NOTHING YOU'RE DOING IS WORKING
even i do it from time to time, and i am religious about moisturizing after i wash. but sometimes like- you need to just not for a few days. especially like if you have bad acne and it gets to a point where your skin is dried out but still acne but no amount of exfoliating is getting the dry patches gone.
you've got a ~chemical burn~

if this happens use a very gentle cleanser once a day, made for normal skin- not oily skin, and use a toner for normal skin and a moisturizer for dry skin over the dry patch and your normal moisturizer everywhere else.
and at night put A&D ointment on the dry patch.

and try to not wear makeup if you can until it goes away.

this is a treatment that did wonders for my dry, flaky winter skin:

Mayonnaise-Baby Oil Dry Skin Treatment
Makes 1 application

2 tablespoons real mayonnaise
1 teaspoon baby oil

> Combine both ingredients.
> Smooth onto face, neck, rough elbows and knees or anywhere else you feel might benefit from it.
> Leave for 20 minutes.
> Rinse off thoroughly with tepid water.

It's the best foundation prep I've ever done. (If you don't mind your face smelling like mayo for a while)

I have a question though: I have a lot of scarring on my face. I've tried a chemical peel on my hand once, and while dead skin did come off easily, it stung and my skin was raw afterwards. I'd rather not do that to my face so what would be an alternative that delivers similar results?

I've heard jojoba oil is a good facial scrub, would that help with scarring?

From the wikipedia page of "Egg oil" (derived from egg yolks)

I'm the one who suggested the Salux beauty cloth a few threads back and am glad to see others have used it!

Mine last longer than 3-4 months, but I decide to get a new one just for the sake of having a new one. You don't need to wash them, which is nice. You just rinse it with water and hang it up.
I have KP myself and have found it does help. I even had it on my breasts and those have finally gone away. My KP is horrendous on my forearms, so those haven't gone away, but they have faded a bit.

I really do NOT recommend using it on your face though. It is far too rough, but it's good for foaming up some facial cleansers!

I highly recommend getting one though. They're cheap, but are so nice. They're long enough to use as a back scrubber and replace exfoliating body soaps. They feel so hnnggh

Not the anon you're answering to, but you get on my nerves already.
The average Korean doesn't get surgery.
Yes, there are a lot of them who get it, but it is still not the majority of them, just a minority, so not 'average'.
According to the most recent studies in which SK came out on top of the world regarding numbers of plastic surgery for country, there were 15 plastic surgeries for every 1000 inhabitants of South Korea.
So that's roughly about 0.015% of the population that look like the pictures that you post as 'average'. 0.015% is a very small minority, definitely not a majority. A majority would constitute as average.
For example, the average inhabitant of New Castle is British, because over 80% of the population of New Castle is British.
Now, included in that population, there may be around 0.03% jamaicans in New Castle. Does that mean that just because it is nothing out of the ordinary to see a jamaican in the streets of New Castle, then we can just go out of our way and say that the average person in New Castle is jamaican? Of course not. But according to your way of thinking, it is.

The point is that you can get it.
Are you asian? Go to South Korea. They have plastic surgery offices and advertisements all over the place. Just research the amount of money, head over there, and get it all done.

Then photoshop every single one of your pictures.

Instant transformation.

She's attractive in the way a 12 year old girl would be attractive.

Which, to me, is not a good thing. She has no sex appeal. No 'oomph.' No real substance to her. Delicate prettiness, yes, but not someone I would call stunning or gorgeous. Not someone most men would find attractive, unless they were into pre-teen girls.

Not sure what skin type you have, but I'll tell you what I use. My skin type: very dry but recently developed excess oil that sits on top of skin mostly on forehead and around nose. I have used Clinique moisture surge intense for a little less than a year and it's worked pretty well for me. A couple other moisturizers I sampled were very nice too: Korres wild rose and Shiseido night moisture recharge. Now that my skin has started changing over from severely dry to combination, I'm finding the Clinique to be a little too oily for me, though it is a gel type base and goes on quite light.

sorry i don't know any cheaper options, i just have really sensitive lips (dry out easily) so i stick to pretty much MAC only since i know they are moisturizing enough.

>> No.6402612

>>6402599
they're basically just heavier moisturizers that would look oily for day wear. if you have dry skin it's worth it, if you have normal skin right now, but older women in your family have dry skin than yeah, it's still good to look into.
just normal skin then it's up to you, you don't /need/ it but it wont hurt.

but if you have combination skin, or oily skin, no not really. your natural oils are more than enough.

the one line from Revlon is actually quite nice, the lip butters.

>> No.6402630

>>6402620
well don't skip it, you should still moisturize. just a normal moisturizer.

also, if you have oily skin you should try and find a gel moisturizer if you don't have one already. you don't need the heaviness of a cream if you're already oily.
