I was the insanely awful Kid from Bastion on Saturday. I had an awesome time despite worrying about what my friend was getting up to. I didn't end up buying anything because I didn't have any money, and my camera would just refuse to work, so no photos either.

But hey, it was nice to see everyone and I hope everybody had a good time.

On Friday I was one of the Kaibutsu from .flow but no-one seemed to recognise me so ohwell.
Saturday I was the GLaDOS with a light-up eye and a potato necklace. Sunday I was Homura Akemi from Madoka Magica.

I had a horrible run-in with the guy in question when I was around 13/14 (my birthday was on the day of the con, so). I was wearing a Nekozawa cosplay and he comes up and glomps me, encasing me in a sweaty hambeast hold. Kept making inappropriate jokes, references to his dick, etc. in front of me and my friends, who were around the same age. He then friended me on Facebook after I was tagged in some stuff, I think. Back home, chilling away.
Had a blast at the meet(s) saturday and sunday. Got to talk and meet some great people, just hope I wasn't too bad with my own impressions really and would like to go to another cgl meet at some point in the future. So yeha, thank you seagulls, it was a blast.

I didn't get many pictures though- I'm wondering if anyone got some of the Garen / Darius from League of legends walking around? They looked great from what I saw but I was in a hurry at the time and sorta missed them.

Anyone recognise this guy? Had a bit of a run-in with him on Sunday when he interrupted a photo I was trying to take of two other cosplayers by running up and standing in the middle of the shot.

Oh my god, you have no idea. So the panel was meant to start at 3pm, right? Well we all got there, and the next slot started- it was some youtube kawaii uguu girl. Guess they were running late. Anyway, Homestucks were fairly unimpressed, I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the act, was chatting to Kanaya West next to me about the con and sealing her paint for her. Anyway, crowd got rowdier and rowder, I heard laughtyer and looked up to see some guy with a 'WE WANT HOMESTUCK' sign, which was funny, if a bit rude. Then, the girl says 'This is my last song!' The crowd all cheered, then this Meulin near me shouted out 'WE'RE CHEERING BECAUSE YOU'RE LEAVING!'
Everyone was pretty shocked at that, you know when you get that awkward silence, then eventually laughter? It was like that. I met the Meulin the next day and she actually seemed pretty nice, but that was going a bit too far imo. Fair enough her set was absolutely shit and not something I'd expect to see at MCM, but she has a right to perform. Maybe they should have moved her slot to after the homestuck panel, it's a pretty tough crowd to perform to.

anyway, the panel itself was fucking hilarious. The Eridan and Spades Slick were particularly good, and I was pretty much swooning over the Equius <3

I might start sticking to smaller conventions from now on. The crowds at expo are getting way too big and it's already past the point where the venue is too small. I almost lost it when some cosplayers in huge costumes were just standing in the middle of one of the bottlenecks not doing anything while people squeezed round them. It was painful to watch.

I was figuring I may only attend the May ones, but even then it's not ideal.

The Expo keeps expanding, it had 9 units total I think, without the ticket units, this time around. But the crowds increase too but I'm told there's not quite the right amount of balance of money for space to accomodate the swelling crowds. West weather didn't help, it meant more people that ever crowded inside.

Anyone know why they stopped letting people through the East end on Sunday? We got stopped and had to get our key cards out to prove we were staying in one of the hotels. This happen to anyone else or did I just get stopped by a dick guard?

I only started going since 2010, but I don't mind the comic and miscellaneous cosplays at MCM. I quite enjoy it for the most part. Minamicon (March) Probaly has the oldest average age of any con in the UK as it's run 18 times now and it's all the same people who keep going to it. Bastard to get into as it only has 350 spaces. Mostly just a 3 day drinking fest at the hotel bar.

London Anime Con (Feb & June/July) Spawn of the tosspots at Anime League. Didn't even try to be subtle when they stole the old acronym for the unaffiliated London Anime Club. Apparantly people have fun at this event but when I gave it a shot discovered it was even more disorganised and shit than their main convention in September.

Sunnycon (March) Only started this year so its shit as all hell, its also a blatant cash grab by the main organizer who runs an anime and manga business up north.

Kitacon (April) Taking a break in 2013 but will be back in 2014. Fantastic party con but all the old school UK con committees hate it because some committee members were a bit dickish when they started.

Camcon (May) Like Sunnycon it only started this year so again shit as hell, organizer is bum chums with the Anime League head tosspot so this is effectively another extension of that fuck fest.

Tokonatsu (August) An anime convention camping outdoors in a field, sounds shit but is actually a total blast.

Amecon (August) Runs alternate years with Ayacon so as they ran this year they're next event is in 2014. Ame and Aya are the two biggest UK conventions (Expos are trade shows not cons) worth a look though the venue is not ideal.

Ayacon (August) Hands down best convention in the UK, excellent venue and top notch organisation sadly they're are calling it quits after their next event in 2013. If you only ever go to one UK convention make it Aya 2013.

Alcon (September) Anime Leagues yearly main event, despite running for several years it's still really shit the only reason I go is to meet friends who are too cheap to go to the better run conventions.

Fushicon (November) Heard this might be coming back in 2013, if it's as good as 2011's first outing was I would fucking avoid it like the plague. Even Alcon were better organised than these idiots.

Achinawa (November) Again heard this might be coming back in 2013, unlike Fushicon it's actually very good. Main downside is you have to drag your ass up to Scotland.
