Ignore anon, it's a workable wig. And that's from experience as I messed with it and used it for my little brother's old Sollux wig.

And oooh. Raven's wouldn't look black. If you need it in the hurry, Natural black will work just fine. It really just means it's not as harsh against certain skin tones.
Either way, if this is your first time messing with wigs I'd suggest the Natural Black Jett as it'll take less to make it a workable Karkat wig!

I haven't seen one yet, but it isn't impossible. What I don't like about most that I've seen is that if you look at the portrait sprite, moving sprite, and silhouette sprite, Porrim has a ton of volume at the top and sides of her hair, like scene hair. All these Porrims with sleek wigs are doing it wrong. Get some teasing into those weaves, girls!

This also applies to sleek-haired Kurloz. I get annoyed by Gamzees whose hair is too neat and close to the scalp. Kurloz and his cosplayers makes me want to tear at my own hair until it's a ratted mess the size of his.

Since we are talking about Porrim, does anyone have a wig to recommend?

I really, really love how this Porrim interpreted the virgo symbol. Most other Porrims just have them sort of awkwardly stuck on with these blunt edges of the symbol that just look strange but this one actually works with her body and looks nice.

What's bothering you so much about the horns? These are pretty decent to my eyes--maybe a few are a bit messy, like Latula's, but I'm not seeing any trainwrecks here. Meenah's are actually a lot better than the ones I usually see.

Also, what's wrong with Latula's gloves...? They're a little more embellished than the ones we see in canon but that's really common in the fandom at this point and as long as they stay within the bounds of canon (which I'd say these do), what's the big deal?

I figured this place was best for advice.

I have a few orders for Mituna and Meulin so I was thinking of just adding a little more height to them but charging the same price as the smaller ones. Is that okay or should I be charging like a dollar more? I've already had a hard dealing with the Ancestor Horns and set prices for Hussie but I don't want to have to put up a-whole-nother section for the Pre-Scratch. I've tried messaging Rachel but she's not been replying to any of my messages, so I figured she must be busy with something.

Any tips, thoughts or anything?

Also I've been toying with the idea of at least announcing the option for straight colors or blendings for the horns themselves because if people ask I do it, but if not my default is to do them straight colors.

The shirt is composed of the green shirt on top obviously, then the black portion underneath is composed of two shirts that I kinda just frankensteined together! basically, I took a regular long sleeved black shirt for the sleeves since sleeves on dress shirts look somewhat awkward and loose on me, and the collar was taken off a different dress shirt that i got for like $3 at my local goodwill! And then of course, I attached the collar to the long sleeved shirt, but that's pretty much the gist of it! I hope that I explained that correctly!

I'm the Latula here and believe me, I agree with you guys - I actually really hate my horns, haha. They're the first pair I've ever made. The Aranea in our group and I had matching horns - I made her some as she had asked me to - and to match, she picked the colors she wanted for the horns. I had painted them a little more true to the canon (still not quite accurate if I remember correctly) but she wanted them more vibrant, which I didn't mind. She didn't end up using mine - another friend had sent her some as a gift and mine didn't fit under her wig - and it was a little too late to slap a paint job on them so I looked like the odd one out. I'm not really pleased with them at all, as I said, but I learned a lot in the creation process as far as how to fill in cracks, sanding, etc and hope to make some better ones in the future.

The gloves are not accurate but I didn't think they were terrible, as they were sporty and of nice quality. I couldn't find anything better that didn't look shitty and costumey and I'm a generally beginner seamstress who didn't want to take on the challenge of making her own just yet. Same with the glasses; I hate the small square frames that most people rushed out to get and wanted something different and it was before pic related were on Etsy. If I ever rewear Latula I hope to use those instead but I don't have further plans for her as of now. I had fun but she certainly isn't my favorite.

Because of my shitty horns I couldn't fit them under my wig (I somehow didn't get the memo about the screw-under-wig method that seems to work really well) and they kept slipping off/messing up my wig which made the overall presentation bad.

I'm sad a shot with my skateboard wasn't chosen for this set as that's what I'm proud of most.

Basically, Kurloz is 2spooky and people in the fandom are drawn to the darker guys that they can throw into the 'bad boy' stereotype, so they love him as much as Gamzee or even more.

With Meulin, she's basically the fandom personified with shipping, not to mention her design is adorable. At least, that's my understanding with the both of them.

Me too. I dunno, I think it's because the makeup is so... doughy? There's nothing skull-like about it, imo. The cheeks/ears area are totally filled in, so it just looks like a perfectly smooth, green head. It doesn't make me think of a skull when I look at it, it makes me think of some kind of cat or dog furry with the ears missing.

looking for some advice here; ive been cosplaying trolls for about a year and i started out doing ben nye on my arms and hands for a while but i found that it would always rub off within a couple hours and get all over my clothes no matter how much powder/final seal i used. i ended up making arm socks which worked out ok, but they make it impossible to touch anything, they rip constantly, the fingers get dirty looking and they always bunch up around my elbows and wrists and look unrealistic. so i'm thinking i want to go back to putting makeup on the arms. is there anything other than ben nye that i can use that wont stain my sleeves or rub off. (not pax, that stuff looks terrible)

I think it's more because so many aspects of Homestuck cosplay have a lot of pre-existing resources. So if you walk in here not knowing the basics of horn making, you're going to get torn apart.

Plus the Homestuck fandom is pretty fucking weird at times, and an anonymous forum is a nice escape from it all. I may act like a total bitch on here, but I'm not too much of a cunt in actuality.

Yeah, I ended up getting my camera stolen from me so I had to use my mother's walmart 40 dollar camera to get pictures for everything and the dark lighting bleh. I'm sorry but I keep giggling a bit over the fact that this precise coat is currently sitting in a box a few feet to my left. It's fantastically made, but I will admit that Burning Man did have a bit of an...effect on it (mainly that it's covered in dust and smells like the desert).
I know heroicbrawn is planning on revamping parts of it though (the armlights in particular, which are not pictured), and so hopefully he will be able to get all of Burning Man out of it before wearing it again.
