I know that the American counterpart of the Grail of the makeup world, Korean BB creams, often get passed up as tinted moisturizers and no more, how do you guys feel about American BB creams and what are your favorites?

Pic related; my little sister got me Garnier BB cream and L'Oreal BB cream for my birthday, and I've never tried Korean BB creams so I can't really make a good comparison.

>> No.6316731

Garnier is shit. It's extremely greasy and will probably make you break out. I'm tan and even the medium-dark tone one was too dark for me and made me look orange.

Damn, I literally just put it on. I'm your normal tan Asian, and I used the light-medium tone, and eh, it blended alright but is extremely shiny.

I just bought some clinique, $36 a bottle. I'm happy enough with it, but I haven't tried other brands.

I think you're confusing peoples views of american bb creams with the korean ones? its the american ones that people are claiming are nothing but tinted moisturizers....

>> No.6316849

I have the Garnier BB cream and I absolutely hate it. The smell gives me the worst headaches.

>> No.6316869

I got the Maybelline one about a week or so ago. I like it, though my face felt super dewy the first time I used it; I've used a smaller amount since and honestly it seems to help. I'll eventually invest in on of the Asian brands, but I think Maybelline is a good sub if you want a drugstore option.

That's what they said.

I got the Garnier BB cream and I thought it was okay, but not the best. It had a strong yellow tint and was really thin/greasy, but the coverage was alright.

Right now I have Dior BB cream (pic related). I bought it in America (Nordstrom's) and it works pretty well. It's extremely thick so you have to apply a lot of it, but the coverage is smooth and lovely.

Expensive as fuck though, that's the only con. My mom bought it for me.

>> No.6316927

can anyone actually conform they're NOT just tinted moisturizer? they've been out for while now, people should be seeing results already.

>> No.6316978

I haven't tried Korean BB creams either, but I really like Maybelline's. Feels very light, and evens out my redness and under eye circles. Doesn't feel greasy on my skin at all, but I do wear powder over it to set it because it gives my skin a bit more shine than I'd like.

6317028

I just got my first BB Cream. Not through choice, it came with my monthly Glossy Box

It's Misha M Perfect Cover B.B Cream but I can't use it as it's in Honey Beige (even though my profile says I'm pale as fuck) and basically putting it anywhere near my skin instantly turns me into an Oompa Loompa

Although, whilst I did have it plastered momentarily on my face, trying it out. I have to admit it felt very smooth and had a nice thick texture to it, yet didn't feel cakey like when I was a teenager and spread a ton of crap across my face with a shovel. It left me looking very shiny though, not dewy and healthy looking but oily and greasy. I have a noraml skin type, if anything a little dry on the nose during the winter so this was surprising. I did pat at it a little and leave it on to see if this would go away but it didn't. I thought the idea would be that this is all you need and powder shouldn't be necessary but for me, that stuff would have definitely needed to be set

So there's my little two cents I guess

>> No.6317029

Don't bother with any of them. They only help your skin in the short term. In the end they offer no benefits and if you have particularly sensitive or problematic skin they'll do more damage than good. People are just going crazy about them because it's from Asia and a relatively new product for America.

Use a all-natural or at least tint and perfume-free brand. Simple are a good one. They won't give you the 30-second quick fix that BB creme will but they'll actually heal and improve your skin so then you don't need to rely on expensive products to look good.

I typically use Missha Perfect Cover and also like Skin79 Gold so I was really excited when they started making bb creams over here because they'd be easy to get, right?!

Sadly, Garnier disappointed me, it was really greasy even on my super dry skin. Too Faced's beauty balm was also a disappointment, it was more like a tinted gel actually. This one gave me a really bad reaction, my skin burned within seconds. So... yea, I guess the American brands are not for me.

yeah, a lot of people say it helps your skin by being like a moisturizer, foundation, concealer, minimal sunscreen, etc. It's supposed to be popular in Asia though so I'm surprised you didn't know about it? The only problem with Korean or any other Asian BB cream brand would be that the skin tone colors are limited to white to yellowish. Like if you're black, the western brands have a better range but idk about the quality of the product.

Basically, slap a bit on in the morning if you just want to go out looking fresh and simple? XD

Has anyone tried the Garnier BB Cream in Oily & Combination (Oil-free). I've only had it for a couple of days, and only worn it for a few hours each time so I'm not sure how to feel about it. It looks great, I think. But I've never worn foundation before this so I'm not sure what to compare it too.

Like, my box says instantly it's meant to make your pores less visible, but I still have gaping ones on my cheeks. It feels alright, though I'm kinda hyper aware I have something on my face so it's still weird - that might just be me since this is my first time wearing makeup (light or otherwise) daily.

It looks fantastic in photos, though. There isn't a gross shine - there's a little, but it looks natural, for me anyways.

I bought the Garnier BB cream and... yeah, it's not great. I decided to keep it and use it because if you use a VERY small amount the color blends okay even on my light skin and it's 'fresher' feeling than concealer, sunscreen + foundation layered on.

Also, I actually like the scent of it.

But I do have to set it with powder because it's pretty greasy. It's also not super moisturizing... Again, better than nothing, but not particularly good either. It really is just a hyped up tinted moisturizer.

I use Missha: M Signature Real Complete BB Cream in No.23 (Natural Yellow Beige). It doesn't suit my skin completely, but I usually set it with a powder anyway, so it ends up being quite close. It has excellent coverage and you don't need to use a lot, so it should last a while. I live in Australia, so I'm lucky that I don't have to order this online since there is a store near me. I checked the pricing from the website and my jaw dropped! I can't believe they charge $45.99, as I get mine for around AU$36, however, since they've had a 50% off sale I've purchased a couple for AU$18 each.

Anyhow, I've tried a couple of different types of BB creams and I get the best results with this one. It lasts all day, though, I may need to blot once or twice. I usually forget and it stays in place either way. It doesn't oxidise or go flaky/scaly, which is a problem I've had with others I've used in the past. It is a little glossy when you apply it, which is part of the reason why I set it with powder. I dunno what else to say, but I love it! I get a problem with redness around my nose when I eat/drink hot stuff or go through temperature change from cold to hot, so that's the reason I started wearing foundation/BB Cream originally. I never found anything that gave as good cover as this, so I'm really happy I found it.

I bought a tube of it when they first released it since I had good experiences with Smashbox in the past, and I liked it well enough. But then I tried a sample of Dr. Jart's Flexitone (or something like that) BB cream and realized what a fool I had been. While Flexitone is probably the worst offering in Dr. Jart's line (it's not the best color match, it comes out grey and turned me a slight shade of orange), it felt amazing on my skin and covered my imperfections beautifully. The Smashbox BB cream tends to dry my skin out, but leaves it super greasy after I wash it off, and it doesn't cover nearly as well as Dr. Jart's.

Hi! I've only tried one bb cream but I've been using it for around 3 months now, almost every day.
I'm eurasian and this color blends with my face skintone well. I've been surprisingly free of sporadic acne the last month or so, which surprises me because I've had more stress than ever. It might be a result of my better diet as well, but at the very least this bb cream does not cause my skin to break out.
It says "triple function: whitening, anti-aging, sun block" on the front.

Pros:
>works as a sun block
>face skin looks blended and possibly lighter
>not as much acne everywhere (probably from thicker old makeup)
>removes with soap easily
>bottle lasts a long time at the rate I've been using it

Cons:
>not too dried out from makeup, but a little
>have to moisturize once or twice a week at night because of ^
>will wipe off on tissue for several hours afterwards

Well, I'm sure different skin types may attribute to some difference of opinion. My skin stays a bit dry around my T-Zone but overall could best be described as oily. I also have very slight acne scarring (from when I was younger, 29 now) but no real need to cover anything else. I think my main problem is because I am so very pale any slight problem with my skin is very noticable. But the Skin79 has been great; I use that with Rose FRESH primer and set everything with Urban Decay's All Nighter set spray and it keeps my skin looking pretty great all day. Example, I've had old ladies come up to me at the mall and stuff and just rave about how nice my skin is and try to touch my face. This can be a little creepy (I feel like they're trying to steal my youth) but it does make me feel confident in the products I'm using.

Honey to cover up redness, you want to look more into green-tinted concealer. That BB cream's coverage is decent, but the tone of it is pretty yellowy, It wouldn't help you tons.

!!!!!!!!!!

bb cream actually gets rid of redness in the face, when most people say it 'healed their scarring' that's mostly what they're referring to. I would suggest you try not to put anything under the bb cream like concealer, anything that can stop it from reaching your skin and actually working. otherwise its pretty useless imo, you might as well be wearing foundation. if good coverage isn't achieved, then try some powder/foundation ON TOP of your cream, but you don't want to add anything under the cream itself.

of course if you're going for a night out and want good coverage go ahead and use concealer, but as far as day to day goes, you want the ream ON your face, the end result is no redness to have to cover up in the first place.

I think its important for people who are inexperienced with makeup etc to know that, you don't have to add ONE even layer of makeup to your skin. there is nothing wrong, and infact is good practice to add more where needed. this applies to bb creams too, if one layer doesn't cover up your scars, redness, imperfections etc. then add more where needed. most creams could cover up my acne scarring, at its worst better than any of the drugstore makeup I had tried. skinfood is great, and has great coverage. some creams get cackey if you add too many layers, obviously. its all trial and error.

I've been using Garnier's BB cream for months now, and I haven't had a problem with it. I don't get it.

Never broken out from it, gives me a wonderful coverage, and helps with redness. It makes my face a little dewy, but I wear translucent powder anyway, so just a little bit of that and it's fine.

Everyone's skin is different. I have normal/dryish skin, so Garnier has never given me any trouble

I've been using Super BB triple functions for about a half a year now, and It's just not fancying me anymore.

The coverage is meh, and the smell has always bothered me. Barely covers my freckles or dark circles.

Can anyone recommend some good BB cream?

I have a slightly oily T zone, but dry cheek and forehead.
I'm looking for good coverage and possibly even a whitening formula too.
Also I'm pretty pale, above ivory almost.

so is this bb cream good for white people skin?

my skin isnt yellowish at all. I'm also very pale and my skin is a cool ivory tone. What brands should I look for and what should I avoid? sorry for being a total newbie. I read a blog post that some bb creams tend to be grayish? Right now Im looking at buying the BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream?

(Also, do bb creams help with dark circles? Cause oh god mine can look TERRIBLE sometimes!)

Oh god, I just finally got my skinfood order from zinopark on ebay, shipped right from Korea.
I got a few of there BB creams, including Good Afternoon Honey Black Tea, Good Afternoon Berry Berry Tea, And the Aloe one.
Only have tried the Aloe one so far, and oh my god it covered and went on so well compared to the MM prefect I used to use.

I also got some other skin care stuff from them, and I just got it today but everything I have used so far is so nice.

I want to buy the Gingko Green in shade #1 but APPARENTLY it doesn't exist anywhere, and neither of those sellers carry it either. I've asked where to get it in at least 6 other threads, I've googled everything I can think of to find it and just keep getting the Aloe and Mushroom and Sake pore pacts as results.

Did this shit get discontinued or something???

I have to go out soon but if anyone is interested I can show a skin swatch of this BB cream when I'm home.
I'm a really pale fuck too.

I have a few BB creams, Faceshop/Tony Moly/Etude House and they're all fairly good, decent coverage however they're often a bit too grey-toned for my white-ass skin and often have a thicker texture. I actually picked up the Garnier BB cream and I'm liking it. I live in Australia so I'm not too sure if there's a formula/ingredient difference (I doubt it) but it smells pretty good to me. It also does have a light coverage and pretty much just acts like a tinted moisturizer for me - the reason why I love it is because I was able to get a pale enough colour to match my skin as well as the fact that it is a bit oilier which works well for my dry skin. It's also getting into summer here so I'm pretty sure this cheap-ass bb cream is going to be my new bff.

LOL, "Pale" and that Garnier shit suits your colour? My very dark latino friends use the lightest shade. You're not pale in any sense of the word if that BB cream doesn't look like someone smeared shit on your face.

Another Ausfag here. Maybe it's a difference in the way it's made, but I'm super pale (I turn red just by going outside, freckles everywhere, etc), and the lightest shade in the BB Cream suits me just fine. I'm always worried about an orange face because of how pale I am, and with this I don't, soo... yeah.

Maybe you guys just burn easily/seem relatively pale because you're in Australia, land of the No Ozone Layer? Your sunlight is crazy intense, yo.
I'm not that other anon but I guess it's sort of frustrating when people call themselves 'super pale' yet have no problem finding cosmetics that suit their skin tone. I'm pale too (yet never burn, yay Northern Europe!) and have never been able to find foundation that was light enough for me. Several different Sephora employees have told me that foundation in my skin tone simply does not exist and that I should either mix something with pure white or get myself a tan. Fuck them, though, because Missha #13 works pretty well.
I'm not sure what my point here is. I think I need a nap.

I am "Super pale" and Australian. Garnier looks like caked shit on my face. As the other anon said; I also have to mix with white foundations to get my colour. My bathroom is an alchemy den and I find it really hard to see how you guys refer to yourselves as "Super Pale"

Maybe because I come from Irish stock? Well, pale Irish stock at any rate. Like... I'm not sure why how we classify our skin is coming under question/attack. I get that this particular BB cream doesn't work for /you/, but that doesn't make it universal. Besides, I don't know about the first anon, but I apply mine super thinly.

>>6324551
Yeah I get that (people complaining when they have things relatively easy), but I guess it's a basis to basis thing. I tend to look orange if I don't have the right colour, but then again to put it in perspective, I don't wear makeup that much to shop around and be frustrated that I can't find something that suits, if that helps any.

And yeah seriously fuck the Australian sun, it /is/ crazy.

I picked the Free Shipping option. My order (Missha's BB cream) came in a small cardboard box and was also wrapped tightly in a bubblewrap. It also came super-fast, like in a week. I will definitely order stuff again from there.
