Pleurisy is painful, very much so. But people have pressed on through it and lived to see another day. They go to work, pay their bills, and clean their house. Life cannot stop when someone is sick.

I ended up with pleurisy after a really bad case of bronchitis. Imagine pain radiating throughout your chest EVERY TIME you inhale -- and magnified a hundredfold when you're wracked with coughing fits. It's difficult to even stay asleep. Sometimes the pain and coughing woke me up in the middle of the night. I wouldn't wish it on anyone short of rapists and pedophiles.

Nope. She was diagnosed with it originally but because she's not getting better she keeps going to the ER. What she doesn't realize is she's likely picking up opportunistic infections and illnesses because she won't rest for a few days. It doesn't help she's very likely gorging herself on foods with poor nutritional value. What she needs is to stay in a few days to a week and get rest, and eating better. She won't because she'd have to pay for expensive health food while her social life crashes and dies because the big mean doctors (who told her she was fat!) won't give her either a pity getting diagnosis or a magic cure-all medicine.

It really bothers me that she styles her "bang" to sit in the middle of her forehead. It's too long. Anime doesn't translate to irl well obviously, so you really have to compromise.

Other than that she's looking pretty good. It's a flattering angle. I wanna add PT to Skype and give her awesome cospray advice but I feel like she probably would just ignore it.

As I see it, she might have a little more than just a few hundred bucks in her Japan savings.

Japan is expensive. She knows this. She loves to buy things and I'm sure her parents won't allow her to take their credit card along, so she hoards her money to be able to afford EVERYTHING when she goes there.

You can have enough for a plane ticket, but you also need money for a place to stay, for food (she needs to keep her blood sugar steady after all) and entertainment. In her case, she'll spend it on every damn thing she sees, so she needs money.

I'm sure the only motivation she has for a having a job is to buy stuff. If her parents would give her an allowance, she'd quit her job stat.

I've had had jobs I didn't exactly like, but I tried to make the best of a bad situation, like most people do. This is debatable for sure, but I've found that the shittier a job is, the more people tend to bond; everyone dislikes the job equally and being stuck together, it's better to get along than hate each other.

PT hasn't exactly grasped this concept. I'm sure she makes work not only harder for the herself, but for the people she works with as well.

But given the fact that she doesn't even pay her own med bill, her folks do, shows just how bad she is with money. Yeah, now is unfortunately an especially bad time to visit Japan from the states because of how strong the Yen is atm. But still, three grand should be enough to get you like anywhere from a week to a month in Japan (the thing is, if you know what you're doing, longer term housing is actually a lot cheaper, so a week long stay and a month long stay can end up costing about the same amount in lodging). Even with a shitty part time job, she has no out of pocket expenses considering her living situation and if it's something she really wanted that shouldn't take very long to save up.

Not everyone lives in an area that has places to hire janitors. Not everyone can do the actually physical labor of a janitor job. Not every place of business hires janitors. Some people are allergic to the stringent cleaning chemicals some janitors have to use. Some people just throw up at the sight of poop. And, again, not every janitor works at a place that provides full health care for their janitors.

And not everyone can be a doctor. Some people don't have the intelligence, plain and simple. Some people can't afford the student debt. Some people have phobias of the human body.

Are you like 12? I assume you still live with your parents and are unemployed, or you would have told me how awesome your job is with your full health care, and therefore have no knowledge of how the grown-up world actually works.

My mother was a janitor for 20 years in several different places (including at a public school, at a church, for a string of medical clinics and for something resembling Merry Maids)- never once had health care. I didn't have insurance until I was 17. Good for your dad, but your experience does not negate the fact that most janitor jobs suck and don't have benefits.
Also throw in that janitor work is AWFUL on your body.

You are right about the lodging, but I am fairly sure that PT would only want to stay in 100% nopponese resorts, which of course are pricy. I'd like to know how far she thought out her Japan trip, other than drink tea and walk around in cosplay.

What infuriates me the most with PT is how she treats living with her parents as a chore.

Currently I am 25 and I chose to move back in with my parents temporarily and I live here for free. I don't exactly work, I have a thesis to write, but I spend my days cleaning the place and making food for my parents and running their errands when needed. It is the least I can do. PT doesn't even do the bare minimum; for some reason, I'm sure she had more chores at home as a teenager then as an adult.

Not that working retail is the worst job you can have. You are inside where it is warm and dry and the job isn't as physically taxing as washing sheep (part of my job as a shepherdess as a teen, woo!).
