Not really. I don't really fancy paying 100+ for costume-tier shoes, even glorious burando. I prefer buying from actual shoe brands like Tokyo Bopper, if I need lolita specific I'll do Antaina.

I have a pair of leather Koji Kugas from the 90s that are still going strong, and leather VM heels that I got for, like, 5 bucks plus shipping because they were scuffed.

I'm curious about Meta's enamel stripper heels, though. I'm a whore for Meta.

That's the one non-brand part of my wardrobe and I always forget.
I have dumb American-sized feet and am jealous of people who can fit into smaller shoes. But I've also never been obsessed with branded shoes in lolita. I see them as part of an outfit that will eventually get ruined because they take on too much wear and tear, even if you clean them. Maybe I'm dumb. My brain will pay $70 for a plastic necklace with glitter, but not $150 for cheap pleather shoes that are uncomfortable.

After that prices went crazy and the secondhand market/new releases became a lot less interesting (I'm an AP whore). I have multiple colorways of some things, so not everything in my wardrobe is unique though.
I only have a few remaining pieces I want to buy and have focused a lot more on blouses and jewelry the last few years. Definitely agree. I am >>10863407 and if we were including offbrands and small items I just have far too much shit. I have also been hoarding for over a decade and I have a love/hate with how much stuff I have. I think the sheer amount of stuff actually brings me stress at this point, but I love each item for different reasons and its hard to let go of things even if I don't wear them. Eg. sweet items I never wear as I primarily wear gothic. I have things where I don't want want to sell, but also wish I just never bought.

If you're still building a wardrobe, focus on items you know you will love and wear. Buying impulsively or just cos items are cheap you end up with lots but half of it never gets worn and it just more hassle to have it.

At one point it was over 150. I’m not as active in the fashion anymore and sitting around 100, but I’d like to be around 50 - 60 and minimize my bags and accessories, too. Getting a little tired of the amount of space this hobby takes up, desu. (Carefully storing large pleather bags and shoes so nothing damages the material, for instance.)

>Have you ever been in debt because of Lolita?>
No, I use a credit card for points, but pay it off right away. I think I took from savings once when a rare dream dress popped up at a less than ideal time, but I paid that back quickly.

>What will be your next purchase?>
No real plans; purchased some JetJ boots and an older Moitié JSK in the last week, but those were my first Lolita purchases in about 3 months. Will keep an eye on the Halloween releases and there are a few accessories I have bookmarked from indie brands. Also considering the Moitié lace apron pre-order, but I don’t really need it.

it is for fake leather imo. I know there's some people who claim their brand shoes have lasted them quite a while, there are also others who report cracking/peeling very early on. Some people who own both the brand version and the offbrand version of the same design also say they don't feel, see or notice any quality or comfort difference. So if I'm going to take a gamble, which to be honest buying fake leather shoes always is, I'm going to spend a maximum of 50$ on the shoes, not 120$.
Because of all of this I'm okay with shoe replicas (I will be getting some victoire replicas soon), but not with garment replicas.

Around 30 for just brand pieces

I use a credit card to buy but pay it off every month. Maximize those points!

Focusing on accessories right now but if something on my wishlist pops up for a decent price I’ll get it.

Oh, I thought you were talking about more crochet-specific brands like the western indie ones that make fully crochet items, but thank you for the response anyway
IIRC she outsourced the manufacture of the flowers, I don’t think she made them herself. Really pretty either way

I also like @crochet_mof (not lolita)
And that's too bad if she outsources the crochet flowers, but at least I still like the design concept and might even copy a design or two for some handmade projects.

There’s @neolita_shop and @angelspellbound which I know of, both instagram profiles though neither super active
Also have you seen the japanese crochet books, Asahi Original? They have patterns for a lot of similar flowers and there are online scans available- the patterns are in japanese but you’ll be fine if you can read diagrams.

30, but I want to reduce my wardrobe a bit so I'm trying to develop a one-in-one-out policy.

No. I pay off my credit card immediately after purchasing things. I've accumulated pieces over the last 10 or so years.

I've never bought RPA before but this one is tempting. I have the Milky Planet MTO preordered right now and am eyeing some Vivienne Westwood boots that would be perfect for gothic.

Most of them, though I don't find they're much different than crappy Taobao shoes. I like when I can find real leather shoes but it's nearly impossible for sweet.

I love McQueen bags and menswear but have yet to own any due to being a wagecuck. I pretty much only wear men’s clothing outside of lolita, so there isn’t a ton of crossover between my normie and lolita purchases. Was recently gifted a Prada men’s bag that I love, even if Prada is for the mistress.

I used to be an AP fag but now I prefer Meta, all their pieces (especially blouses) fit me since I'm tall!

>How many main pieces do you own
I have about 20 brand main pieces, and 8 taobao/bodyline pieces. I don't feel like buying a lot more, I'd rather focus on accessories. I don't feel like you need more dresses than there are days in a month! Still looking forward to buy meta nu-old school stuff tho.

Your wardrobe is small. I’ve seen newlitas with more main pieces than 30, and clearly if you had the baby only policy you wouldn’t be looking at trash rpa. Look at the thread of mostly everyone saying they have 60-90+ main pieces lol

>> No.10870930

Nayrt but itt it’s like 60/40 between having 70-100+ main pieces and 30-40 main pieces. Then a handful of <10 mains. As someone who owns 60 main pieces 30 isn’t really small, it’s more like average size especially if you have plenty of blouses and accessories to balance it out.

nayrt, I wouldn't say 30 main pieces is a small wardrobe. imo 1~20= small, 21~40=medium, 41~99= big, 100+=huge.
I don't see how a btssb brandwhore could think one day "I like RPA now and want to buy some". Aesthetically speaking imo RPA is very taobao-esque even when they've collaborated with japanese artists to do the print designs (I don't know about the quality, I hope it's not shitty for your sake). Now I'm not saying you can't like different aesthetics, it's just a huge jump.
In contrast my own taste is very consistent lately. What I like about btssb is their solid pieces with good cotton lace, and when I'm looking at other brands I'm searching for similar things.

there's a divide between people who view wardrobe quantity is hobby progress and people who instead prefer to carefully curate a medium sized wardrobe and focus on making multiple coords with one main piece as opposed to, say, collecting full sets and never mixing pieces. older lolitas tend to go for the curation strategy, because in the long run storing and maintaining 90 dresses can be tedious

not saying either way is right or wrong, they're just different ways to engage with the hobby.

Most RPA is 100% not my thing. This dress caught my attention as a fun Halloween piece. I don't know if I'll get it because usually I agree RPA just lacks a lot of oomph. No lace trim, not a lot of detailing, weird fabric. I don't expect it to be anything as nice as Baby's textured cotton. But honestly most Halloween prints have felt really underwhelming recently. The AATP Youkai print was alright but every other brand has just been dropping the ball on Halloween imo.

Yeah. I used to have 60+ pieces but it became overwhelming and I didn't wear a lot of them since I can't at my office job. It felt wasteful to hoard pieces I wasn't wearing so I sold anything I was on the fence with.

Around 30 at the moment. Not much because I tend to cycle through pieces until I get ones I truly love.

>Have you ever been in debt because of Lolita?

Thank goodness, no. If I don't have the money, I don't buy it.

>What will be your next purchase?

Just paid for the black x white Elizabeth OP from the recent lottery pre-order, so I'm excited for that! Other than that, probably some more VW pieces even though it isn't strictly lolita.
