sdcc has neither of those. the hall H line is this giant fucking line that goes out to the docks and winds around. the everything else line is the same thing but on the lawn to the side of the convention center. it is common for people to just hop it at about 530-6am with their friends, making the line grow quite a bit. people tend to self-regulate though. when you're in line that long with others, you recognize who was near you.

It's much more contained. Best bet would be South side of Anchorage, like Old Seward and Dimond and further out is very peaceful. Just want to stay away mainly from east side, or Fairview, that's where they're mostly at and where most crime happens
But yeah you should definitely move to Anchorage. 100% promise you that it's absolutely worth it. Senshi-Con, Alaska Comic Con, and Arctic Comic Con are the 3 main cons up here with smaller ones inbetween. Kira Buckland, voice actress from Anchorage, always helps out at the con or guest stars here and she's extremely chill

The problem with Genshin as opposed to SU or Undertale is that Genshin has a bajillion fucking characters and the point of the game is collecting them so it takes up a majority or all of the artists' catalog. Atleast with the other two, artists would cross over with a few like minded series (Gravity Falls, etc.), but Genshin is so self-sustaining that artists can focus soley on it and make bank so there's no incentive to support other series. I live in DTLA, Little Tokyo is usually pretty safe if you stick to the main shopping areas, they've cracked down on bums hanging around near the businesses there and pushed back/cleared nearby encampments, and I haven't seen a panhandler in the village plaza in years (there used to be a lot). Also safety in numbers and the area is really popular during AX.
If you're strolling through DTLA proper on Figueroa just be aware of your surroundings, give any bums you see a wide berth in case they go apeshit, and also mind the sidewalk so you don't step in crap.

I'm, as you can see, a shoujosei fan so I was hoping to see some titles relating to it. Or even some more of the classics (Sailor Moon, NGE, Cowboy Bepop, etc.). At the time when I was looking, it was 95% original art, Genshin, Vtubers, Honkai, and Twisted Wonderland. There was hardly any anime in sight, let alone recent titles.

Now that time has past, I'm super happy. I'm seeing so much more genuinely good art and diverse titles -- even some I wasn't expecting like Splatoon. Unfortunately ATSV came out too recently to make it into the cut for a lot of artists, but I'm so happy for the bits we do have. I'm fucking pumped for AA now.

Also I realized that like over half of the artists were posting late bc they were busy prepping or doing other things lmao. There's still a ton of big names that haven't posted or are barely posting their catalogs today.

if you're doing something like a headshot just grab a wall. if you're doing a full body, there's a lot of places where there's just concrete outside and that's really the best you're getting. AX/LACC sucks for photos honestly. concrete, concrete everywhere. you can try using the windows near the west hall (they have a bunch of squares on them) but there are usually people on the other side.

or you just say fuck it and don't mind the crowds. there's not a lot of good places that are open to the public. if you can smuggle someone upstairs to the third floor there's some stuff there but only press/industry/staff can get up there normally, and they're actually doing a good job of checking in recent years.

There are some decent places to be found around the area. One decent spot I've found in the past is upstairs in the JW Marriott, not in the hotel tower itself but up the lobby escalators above the bar, it's usually pretty quiet up there and decent looking. The elevated patio thing at the corner of the con center near the Staples Center is also sometimes quiet enough for decent shots, and you can also find OK spots in the various parking garages, sometimes with equipment and piping etc. that suit sci-fi cosplays.

Failing that, really fast lens and use that shallow depth of field to turn the crowds into cream in the background. On Fuji the 56 1.2 is really good for this but I've also got a much cheaper Samyang/Rokinon 85 1.4 with an adapter and you have to get pretty far back with it (since it becomes a 135 equiv.) but it'll nuke any background into a nice pleasant blur.

You still have a little bit of wiggle room in a huge crowd but generally hanging around the wider areas inside/outside will let you get a half-decent empty background. Even just asking someone to come to the side and pose against a wall or solid backdrop is better.
If you want an decent photo with a great background though, you should be organising shoots ahead of time and bring some proper kit like lighting. There's only so much quality a quick hall shot can get you.
