Everyone I know who went, including myself, enjoyed it. The only issues it had was the BS with Tyler where they disinvited her and then didn't even announce she was no longer a guest. I’m not from Texas, but I only drive in for cons like Okashicon, A-Kon, Crunchy Roll, and Colosseum Con, being from Oklahoma. I will say that A-Kon for the past 3 years has been a total letdown. The venue wasn’t the best, and the tea service was bad. For the amount they charge, you could easily just reserve a tea service somewhere else that’ll actually give you a tea service for less. For the A-Kon 2022 tea party, it was a big disappointment and a joke. They only served us lukewarm tea and a small macaron bought from Costco. It was outrageous that the Tea Party was such a waste of time and money. They did have brands like Angelic Pretty and Baroque that did small raffles and gave little gifts. A-Kon is only worth it if you want to shop at the brand if you don’t want to do the shopping online. If you're visiting A-Kon, be prepared to reserve tea service elsewhere with Lolitas.

I didn’t get to go because they ran out of tickets. But all I heard was how the organizer was lashing out after people complained about the tea party not going well. This wasn’t appropriately planned if some guests weren't served at all.

>> No.10855984

>>10855488
I heard it was self-serve and the earlier tables were greedy and took more than what they were supposed to. Not so much planning as it was one or multiple in the the first groups of people overserving themselves.

When you consider the bigger names for brands that A-Kon gets I can see where a lot of budget tends to go for j-fashion programming. I think people want tea party tickets to only reflect the food price and not the guests and brand appearances or the other aspects of everything but that's not always how the budget works at a con, plus often hotels restrict what outside food you can bring in to force organizers to overpay for their in-house catering and food services.

All mimosas are sparkling kek - unless you mean the glitter, which was a fun touch other than the part where it made the drink fizz up so much that it overflowed.

Food pics always look unappetizing so I’m not going to post but as someone who went last year, this year was a vast improvement. There was breakfast items as well as chicken, fish, and pasta. This just makes me miss the 2018 Akon tea party food. The food was delicious and pleasing. What happened now?

It could be budget, venues changing, their caterers shutting down because of COVID, or a number of other factors.

Food was tasty, warm, and mostly plentiful. Bottomless mimosas and hot tea. Programming at tea party was good. Freebies were nice. Only complaint from me would be that they ran out of the mini deserts. Maybe they could have put those at the table or something. But they handled it well and brought out other deserts that were good so nbd. Overall, the tea partys fund the costs of the guests coming so i dont mind overpaying for food.

Been observing this thread and what is with the same anons flooding in and making the same repetitive reviews of this event? Poster count has hardly jumped up within a few hours. Is this some type of image clean up or cgl publicity spam to promote a shit event?

And want to add in : judging how the food was year ago makes it show how they downgraded on the tea party. Food doesn’t look too appealing which will turn people the other way.

If an anon has already posted upthread about being excited for the event or nervous they may have wasted their money, or just asked questions and commented on some of the other events mentioned, posting again after the event to update everyone who is curious won't increase the poster count.

Kek drama chans were at the fashion show and tea party. No surprise at all! They were live posting throughout the duration of the event and somehow thought everyone forgot about their unhinged drama. I’d give 4 of them the side eye for posting while at the fashion since they couldn’t stop giggling and laughing at the one fashion line.

Ayrt, what I just said has nothing to do with drama and was only explaining why poster count would remain unchanged. The only one in the Dallas comm who would ever stand to make money from drama is Tyler, who voluntarily stopped attending lolita events. There's no money in drama for a regular lolita.

what were the other available options at the 2018 tea party? this looks gorgeous, but as someone who dislikes and won't eat sandwiches, the selection seems rather limited.

2023's tea party could be improved, but i don't think anyone left hungry at least. the baked goods in your photo do look vastly superior though.

>>10859668
nayrt but as anon mentions, the caterers brought out a selection of full sized desserts when they ran out of the mini ones.

The food at an event like this can only be two of three: aesthetic, affordable, good variety. Most easily acessible and cute tea services serve standard stuff like sandwiches, scones, and sweets on each tier and that gets boring but is usually cute and tastes okay. To get something photo-worthy with substantially more variety than that you'd have to pay a lot more in ticket price. Or choose a nice restaurant instead of an anime convention lolita gathering.

The ones known to be in drama caused said drama within the Dallas comm and have since been banned. They would literally not have been allowed at the tea party.

The opinion that "RVR was enjoyable, actually" has absolutely nothing to do with Texan drama. Constantly accusing random people of that is schizoposting through and through.
