Since people want to talk about shoes in that other thread, here’s a new thread not made by a coomer.

Discussion starters:
>What are the most versatile shoes in your wardrobe?
>Sneakers in lolita: Yes or no?
>Thoughts on black shoes with no other black in the coord?
>Shoes you hate seeing in coords

>> No.10833511

There is no way to know if or if not a cooker made a thread, but allas. That's something we have to live with.
For sneakers in Lolitas it's a big no from me, they just clash so much with every style of Lolita. I can understand that comfort is a big thing for many.
But flats are usually also comfy and fit a little bit better than sneakers.
I love black shoes with no other black in the coord, it gives me nostalic vibes, especially in classic coords.
I have not seen the new ap bubble shoes coorded, but I already hate them

>What are the most versatile shoes in your wardrobe?

Angelic Imprint style 9633 platforms (picrel)

>Sneakers in lolita: Yes or no?
Generally no. I've seen a few pictures of misako in casual lolita wearing what looked like a cute version of converse all stars (or other popular plimsoll shoe) that looked okay to me but other than that no.

>Thoughts on black shoes with no other black in the coord?
Depends on the end result. It can look amazing, it can also look really bad/out of place.

>Shoes you hate seeing in coords
I generally tend to hate sheep puff designs, or shoes that have fabric ruffles attached to them.

>What are the most versatile shoes in your wardrobe?
Btssb victoire shoes! They go with almost any style, have real wood soles and you don't have to worry about falling straps like with RHS. I have them in red and black but I want to get more colorways because I wear them so much
>Sneakers in lolita: Yes or no?
I've seen a few sweet coords with pink Pumas that looked cute but I think it's very hard to pull off. I think it only works for sweet too.
>Thoughts on black shoes with no other black in the coord?
in classic and old school, totally fine. In an all-pink sweet coord not so much
>Shoes you hate seeing in coords
Demonia kera 08s are so overused and they're not that cute imo. Same with most of their other shoes like those Swing boots that don't belong in lolita at all. I admittedly like the crux 07 for super casual looks lol

You can buy a pair of shoe stretchers! I got a pair from amazon to stretch a pair I got that was too small. I thought I was going to have to sell them, but after being stretched they fit fine. They can stretch both lengthwise and widen the toe box. A half size too small should be easy to stretch. Anything more than one full size might not be doable. If the toe is very rounded I put cotton batting around the toe of the stretcher since it's pretty pointed. You could use a little towel or cotton balls.

How do you manage to walk in them with that single ankle strap? Are they comfortable, or does it feel like you'll twist your ankle at any moment? I've been put off trying them again after getting a pair one size too big because of this issue, but I wonder if them being my actual size would solve this problem. Any type of sneakers is a hard no from me. I don't get the complaint that shoes are uncomfortable otherwise, and I think it's usually a cope. Plenty of lolita shoes are quite comfortable. Even cute sneakers are a no-go. They can work in fairy kei, yes, but they just don't fit in lolita.
The most versatile shoes in my wardrobe are some white Bodyline shoes I have with a bow on top. White means they go with quite a few things, and they're comfortable.
The shoes I hate seeing are those god-awful sparkly pink Demonia platform boots. A perfect example of "just because something is sparkly and pink doesn't automatically make it work for sweet lolita." The pink shade almost always clashes with the rest of the pink in the coord, because it's a brighter and more saturated pink next to the usually muted pastels of sweet. Also Doc Martens in sweet or classic.

Which is correct, same with eye and skin color, they don't contribute to the coord because they not intentional. That's why wigs are different, you're intentionally adding something to your coord, but it's still in my opinion, not part of the outfit. As you said, it's an addition, which is why you can't use it as a baseline for color coordination in your coord. If you try to do that, you're promoting the idea that you can't have your hair a certain color with certain coords. I have wide feet, wide enough to either size up in regular width sizes (and then sometimes I still can't comfortably walk in them) or to go for shoes that are sold in a wider width than the regular width. I have found out that tea parties just don't fit me properly, no matter if I size up or not. At the heel they're too wide, and a bit too narrow in front. They look wide, so maybe it's not that the footbed isn't wide enough. Perhaps it's just the circumference of the upper (the part that goes over your foot) on the toe box that's too narrow. I could try stretching the ones I have though. Luckily I no longer prefer tea parties. I have a bunch of shoes from bodyline that are comfortable as they are, but I do size up half a size whenever that's a possibility.
You just have to look at the shoe and make a good guess based on the shape if it's going to be wider in the toe box. I've started doing that plus going half a size up when that was an option and it never failed me. If I get a shoe that is just a little bit too long for me I just put cotton balls in the toe box.

I've owned both and this isn't entirely true. The ones on Aliexpress/Taobao have much worse quality pleather - it's thin, shiny and prone to rippling, which makes it so they provide less support and generally look cheaper. The pattern on the foam is hideous as well.

actually the ali/tb ones ARE the bodyline ones. it's the same manufacturer, but the quality is lower which is why bodyline never restocked. and slightly related, bodyline is floundering because mr yan stopped being the only person who could contact chinese suppliers cheaply and compete with the growing. quality went down and costs rose. so bodyline was basically trying to operate on the scale of AP or other brand, while having a bad reputation and higher prices than what you get in china. infact, jp internet has tons of chinese dropship items on it's marketplace sites they didn't have before, which sucks because buying made in japan products is more difficult.

I would not suggesting sizing up (length wise) more than one or one and a half size, it will look really weird, be more prone to scuffing and perhaps foot sliding in the shoe. As a fellow wide footer I suggest you go online, look for mainstream or stores that carry wider shoes (sometimes mainstream stores have more alternative footwear), sift through all of the shoes available in your size and width and then see if you can find anything that would suit your style. It's going to be a lot of work but it's worth it to look for options. If you're ordering from those sites make sure you can return them for free and get a refund if they don't fit. I've done this a lot with Clarks, ASOS, etc, a few years ago when I was looking for wider shoes for not just lolita but also my normal mainstream wardrobe and vintage wardrobe. It was a lot of work looking for suitable stores, sifting through the stores, ordering, etc. But it was worth it.

It sucks that with every size wider there are less options and even less nice looking ones. I'm in roughly the same boat as you, high arches and all. It sucks. I think about 5 years ago there was a nice vintage style shoe trend and a lot of the comfort brands that make wide sizes had cute, low heels. Alas, no longer- Hotter stopped making heels period, even.

You could try to find what some older models from second hand shops/sites, and depending on the colors you need, since they're leather, you can dye the shoes.

Here's my list of Classic/Gothic style wide brand + models off the top of my head:

Earth shoes: Polaris, Marietta Stellar, Wanderlust, Serano, Amber, Garnet

Cobb Hill: Marilyn, Abbott Curvy pump, Demi, Avery

Hotter: Donna (old version with higher heel and rounder toe- the newer shorter heel and almond toe is unflattering and ugly), Opal, Jewel (flat, can work for sweet, maybe)

I pretty much only wear sneakers when in ap ott sweet nowadays, lolita is a street style, so I like combining street wear with it. Balenciaga make the best sneakers for sweet lolita in my opinion (Track + Triple S), I have 2 pairs in pink and they're so comfortable, cute and come in multiple colourways, I wish I'd see other people wearing them in the fashion. I'd show a picture, but some retard in my apartment has gotten file uploads on my ip banned.
Other than that, Irregular Choice will occasionally release cute trainers, when they don't use garish colours for once.

My general rules when wearing sneakers in lolita are these:
-Big/interesting soles
-CLEAN
-Not running shoes
-Has something cute about them, such as glitter, ribbons or cute colours
-You're wearing them because you like them, not because you're 15 and can't afford a pair of tea parties

However they'll always look bad if they don't match the style of the coord, trying to fit Nike with a dressy time dress op would just look retarded no matter what.

There's lots of different things that can make a heel uncomfortable so you kind of have to narrow it down yourself.

>the arch is too flat to support your foot properly (if the bottom of your foot arches off the sole of your shoe, you need more padding)
>the arch is too curved to support your foot properly (if you have flat feet and the shoe pushes up into the arch of your foot)
>the shoe is too big in the toe box (your foot slides forward and puts pressure across the top of your foot) (your heels shouldn't cut into the top of your foot, ever)
>the shoe is too big in the heel, meaning your foot can slip around more which leads to fatigue
>the sloped part of the heel is too long for your foot ie the heel is too high for your feet (especially common in western shoes ime, which seem to be designed to fit the larger end of sizes)

And there's another thing to watch out for:
>the heel is badly designed making it much more uncomfortable, prone to breaking, and more likely to make you trip (you want the heel to be coming from the bottom of the foot where your weight naturally falls, NOT from the back) (see picrel)
>thicker heels aren't necessarily more stable than a stilleto, if the heel isn't placed to catch your weight as you walk (again see picrel)

There's lot of removable pads you can add to heels for different parts of the sole and ankle. If you can't easily wear a pair of heels for a few hours you should def look into trying them.

I have these in lavender, woah! Never thought to wear them with lolita. They're extremely comfortable, but the bow doesn't hold the shoe in place very well

When I bought the Sheep Puff platforms I sized up, it's a little loose so I used one of those ankle pads they provided with my order.

I use these when I want to wear comfy shoes for OTT sweet. They are for kids but their size 7 equates to about a 8.5-9 in women's. Had to buy 2 pairs because I figured Amazon would stop selling them eventually.

Normal shoe size. Toe box was a little narrow but buying larger they would have been way too loose.

I knew this would eventually happen. Today, after a year and a half of occasionally using my funtasma/pleaser dolly 50 shoes (they're nearly identical to the more popular demonia mary janes but with a slightly lower heel), the elastic on one side finally tore. Otherwise they are good as new. Has this happened to anyone else? Any clues on how to replace the elastics?

I confused them, picrel is the funtasma mary janes, whereas

is the demonia dolly 50.

yes, it depends on your body, and most heels are made to fit as many people as possible without being customized and movable to someone's foot. That's the whole issue. I'm glad you have found stuff that fits you, but that doesn't mean it will be comfortable or suitable for long term usage.

I really do recommend it, the people there seem to genuinely care about usable, durable footwear. Being in Canada I definitely shilled the extra fee to try multiple sizes, but it was worth it.

not sure what you mean by elastic, are you talking about the strap? If it's an elastic you should be able to sew it back onto itself with a sturdy stitch, but if the pleather is involved you'll probably have to take it to a cobbler.

>> No.10839336

Indeed I'm talking about the elastic at the base of one side of a strap, next to the clasp. I'm afraid sewing it back on is impossible as it simply tore completely, already looked quite stretched and frayed for a while.
I'll have to remove it completely and try to sew back on a fresh new elastic, preferably of higher quality altogether.

How is the fit of Sheep Puff and Modo’s shoes? Should I size up or down? Or are they true to size?

as >>10839634 said use blister patches for non boots
for boots i layer normal cotton socks and fluffy socks on top but it's REALLY unsuitable for summer unfortunately.
for summer i used to use a blister gel square, bandage it and layer with a cotton pad between the layers but it got impractical fast bc it wasn't cost effective for single use.

depending on the shoe you can glue guards on the inside so the seam isn't as harsh or hammer the leather to make it softer

I think these look cute with casual coords and crew length socks. Many Japanese people wear socks with sandals even in summer, maybe look at casual or other fashion styles for inspo?
