You should try it out bud, helps if you have a few chansperg friends ahead of time. You get the good with the bad but the overall quality of people is much higher than the average con goer these days. If you are a moneyboy rent a suite, otherwise just fill your bathtub with ice and cheap beer and get people wasted.

Why can't this place just discuss con drama?

Sure, if it's brought up or if we already know we visit 4chan, we talk about it. Usually meeting people through here directly or on a gull Discord server helps, though there aren't many open/public meets anymore.
A few times someone has asked if they want to meet up in a con thread, gone and met them, and it was a blast. Even had someone say thanks in the thread after for keeping them company which made me happy.

To that end, might I add that mentioning /cgl/ more is often a good idea. Really don't care at all if it's blunt, but subtle hints tend to get em talking if they know ( >>10836020 since this is also me). The types who will know generally identify themselves anyway, like a Spurdo patch or a jacket with /R9K/ stitched into the back. I've met some longtime close friends off of this site, never really got why some people are so against about "breaking containment"

the EGL/j-fashion people at major cons definitely do. i mainly meet up with /a/ people and /k/ommandos who do the historic military cosplays with milsurp. there might be the cringe plebbit-tier "4chan" panels happening. i met up with /g/entoomen one through happenstance in a thread. there was one /fag/got out of place in a tailgate party one time.
otherwise, most congoers are just normies looking to consoom and have a good time. no one cares about 4chan

I've been to a bunch of meetups and it's always such a crapshoot of people. met some really nice people that I was legit surprised were on 4chin, and a bunch of unironic /pol/tard autists that I could never invite to any social gathering because they're a massive liability.

pretty much the biggest litmus test is if they browse /pol/. look, I get it, I hate sjw's too, but don't bring that shit up in a place where we're surrounded by em.

The unspeakable cringe of people playing ambassador of 4chan culture to youtube, reddit, facebook, etc. The cringe cataclysm that follows every wave of 4chan involvement in real world affairs and subsequent news coverage.

I don’t bring up 4chinz or any “”””problematic”””” shit irl unless if its with buddies. Chances are, you’ll find subtle cues and figure out who does it anyway I know several people in a fandiscord who definitely lurk at the very least judging from pics being sent live and their way of speaking. Ain’t said shit to them about it though
