$550 starting bid for damaged Moitie

>> No.10832850

I've been seeing these listings on LM selling loads of new mob caps, head bows, etc by the brand "RococoHeroin". The seller is https://egl.circlly.com/users/Saesishu
and is shipping from the US. When I google the brand name I find the original taobao shop and the items are between 10 and 18$ but the LM seller is asking more than double. I'm a bit confused about this seller. Did they just buy a boatload of these accessoires to resell on LM or something? And they all look like lower quality btssb design replicas.

>> No.10832883

Yes, unfortunately, newfriend. These kind of sellers have been a blight on lm (and basically any other second hand sales platform) for years now, reselling shit quality pettis and bodyline and dropshipping from taobao. People asked for them to get banned for just as long, but it never happened.

Anons, I’d like some advice on what feedback should be left here.
>buy item on Jan 4. I expected to receive it within a week (shipping was $25 so I assumed it was priority which takes 2-3 days. This was for a bag, so nothing heavy)
> On Jan 12, they message me that they needed a bigger box but it would go out on Monday (it was Thursday so I’m not sure why not Friday or Saturday). I was annoyed because imo there’s no reason it should take over a week to ship something, or at least saying you’ll be delayed but I just let it go. I left town on the 13th so it didn’t really matter anyway.
>when I returned on the 29, it wasn’t here, so I checked the tracking because I was worried the package got stolen. However, it was still in transit because it had been sent parcel select. It had not received an acceptance scan until Jan 21. The package arrived Jan 31st, almost a full month after I paid for it.

I understand that the USPS often sucks at scanning packages, although in that case they usually don’t receive an acceptance scan at all and just show up as being delivered, so I feel like she just didn’t actually take the package in until the 21st. I could let this slide, but I honestly feel like I got scammed on shipping because $25 should have been more than enough for priority shipping. If it was more than that, it would have been less than $5 more which imo the seller should cover (especially after delaying shipping for at least 10 days, possibly 16 depending on when she actually dropped off the package), not downgrade shipping to a method that costs $10 at the most, this pocketing $15 of the shipping cost. I wouldn’t care if it was a couple dollars or something, but $15 is a lot to overcharge.
I’m tempted to leave negative feedback since it took so long to ship and the shipping was so overcharged, but I’m not sure if I’m being too harsh. Should I leave neutral?

>> No.10834090

>>10834080
Just politely talk with the seller about it, maybe they'll give you a discount or at least explain themselves. But imo giving negative feedback for not shipping in less than a week is harsh, yeah.

>> No.10834092

>>10834080
You can ask the seller which shipping method they chose and compare it to the label on the box. If they did indeed pocket the money a neutral feedback is acceptable. The seller should have communicated with you more about shipping it out late but a negative feedback for it taking a while is too strict.

>> No.10834110

>>10834090
>>10834092
It’s the combination of taking a long time to ship and then using a slower/cheaper method and pocketing the difference that made me think negative. I’d probably completely let the delayed shipping go otherwise, but pocketing ~$15 of the shipping cost rubs me the wrong way. If you fuck up and overcharge by more than like $5, you should refund the difference.

This is silly of course and most decent sellers would give a discount for the inconvenience of you having to do stain removal, but some people are lazy. I wash my dresses as soon as I get them anyway.

Yep, this. I’ve been in the fashion since 2008 and I’ve never seen it sold. It would be in the thousands for sure.
I know a few people who have the OP and they paid around $600 for it back in the 2010 era. The JSK was rereleased but only in certain colors, and it’s very small so the OP is more desirable in the west at least.
If I recall correctly, pinkxblue, pinkxivory and pinkxblack were store limited colorways, making them rarer on an already rare dress. I’ve seen every other colorway besides pinkxblue pop up at least once. I think the ones who have it will probably never sell it unless they desperately need money (or they do so privately to a friend or something, in which case we’d never know).

I'm a very DIY person but it's quite hard to salvage faux leather shoes in bad condition. The most you can really do is save them with some nail polish (if very minor cracking/peeling) OR peel *all* of the faux leather topping off the fabric, which I've only seen done on old jackets and obviously leaves a very different colour/texture.

I'd rather buy Taobao (and even to my exact measurements when possible, since custom made tends to cost $10-15) than secondhand. Imagine having to put up with hunting for secondhand because your beloved brand keeps re-releasing the most insipid shit these days with a $300 tag. No thanks. You may have to sift through a lot of crap in Taobao, true, but when you hit a quality brand you're golden. I guess you're forgetting about all the shit western indie "brands". TB is a way better value than 99.9% of indie brands, and desu based on AP's recent quality issues, might be a better value than some of their new releases. Although in this case, you’d think they’d notice the fading long before it got this bad. If it was a few shades lighter that would be more understandable, but the print is almost completely bleached out here… unless it was in a room that was never entered, how do you not notice it and put it away? And why did Wunderwelt pay someone for something that damaged? I don't know where to put this, but it seemed more relevant in a shopping-oriented thread.

People are upset that Hot Topic is selling these rainbow heart tights (left) that look like the ones Spank is known for (right).
Am I a shit person for thinking there's not enough here to claim design/art theft? I'm not trying to support Hot Topic, but no one owns rainbow hearts. Rainbows are trendy, and hearts are used everywhere. There's no confetti and the hearts are different sizes/a different shape. Yes, it looks heavily referenced, but the last restock of these from Spank, that I know of, was in 2020 (Please tell me if I'm wrong. I got one of the last pairs very soon after they restocked that time).
I know the owner of Spank is supposedly upset, and I can sympathize with that. But, it's too vague of a theme to "own" and when you haven't restocked your product in over two years, how can you really expect anything?
Please share your thoughts, anons. I feel like a heretic.

And yeah, I'm not saying Hot Topic is a great or anything. This is an extremely popular tights design that both the Japanese and western community have been wearing and posting about for like a decade, the "designer" probably saw one of the dozens of pictures of someone wearing them and copied it. Again, not the first time Hot Topic has stolen designs.

The porn shop across spank! also didn't just look like a bookstore, they had hardcore porn posted in the windows. There were pictures. Mandrake was forced to relocate, and spank! reopened in the same building they've always been in but in a new location in the building. They are still open, and still selling these tights.

>> No.10838241

>>10838237
Nta, but whether or not someone saw the design and was "inspired" by it, if companies weren't allowed to do their own spin on things, no one would sell anything. HT probably saw the Spank tights somewhere and wanted to make their own version because popular culture sells. It is, quite fortunately, not a direct copy.
If a company without a history of ripping off designs had released these tights, I doubt as many people would be pointing fingers. If some western, indie brand decided to put rainbow hearts on a pair of white tights in the same way and only added stars to make it "unique," people would probably applaud them for keeping jfashion alive.
Basically, HT is problematic, but I personally am not bothered by them selling these tights. Anyone who wants the Spank tights probably won't substitute the HT ones because they are noticeably different. I'm not supporting HT, but Spank can't own rainbow hearts on white tights forever.

This t b h. It's obviously referenced, but the design is probably too generic to claim infringment of intellectual property.

This has been Hot Topic's MO since forever. In the late 90's/early 2000s their designers would go to concerts and produce direct ripoffs of what they saw kids wearing, then when it became easier to upload photos to the internet they'd trawl Livejournal and band forums etc. Many such cases. I think asking after the sale has been stale for several months is a bit awkward, so you might want to just take the L.
I rarely buy from LM, but I've found that sellers will more often leave feedback if I ask very soon after I get the package. I usually send a message saying something like "Hey, I got the -insert item here-! I just left you a positive review. If you could leave me feedback too, I'd appreciate it." I think most sellers skip feedback for buyers because it's not really "needed."

People who shit on taobao categorically are really just uninformed on what’s out there. On fril their buyer account is named 森, judging by the buyer feedback of the last two items.

I find them annoying too, but I've bought one item from them a few years ago because I'd never seen it for sale (and to this day I still don't think it's been listed again by anyone). My only complaint is that the item had a small imperfection and the shirring wasn't in great condition. I think I paid too much at the time, but it's probably only increased in rarity and price now, so I'm okay with it.
Some of their listings weirdly seemed more "reasonable" than others. But I do agree that it's frustrating knowing that they buy things just to mark them up and sell them again. I wouldn't buy anything from them now, knowing that the item probably hasn't been examined for damages and the price of brand is just inflated x2 in 2023 anyways.

It's very obviously not a personal collection. They sold one dress I wanted a few months ago at a somewhat inflated rate, and now posted the exact same cut, color and condition for $50 more. So obviously it's a scalper, I personally do have multiple color ways of my favorite prints but I don't sell them months apart... It's hard for me to part with any of my favorite prints unless I find one in better condition

Which prints and cuts? If they’re MTOS she most likely buys the maximum number you’re allowed to.

I've sold over 60 things on LM over the years and for the first time a listing got deleted by a mod without warning. I posted a loliable novelty shaped bag by a Japanese brand and they deleted it yet shit like this is allowed to stay up. 9 out of 10 of my listings are Japanese brand so it's not because of a large percent of offbrand

What mod is smoking crack?

Recognizing patterns and making two clicks based on that isn't hard if you've combing the second hand marked for longer than a decade.

Actually it's called just being informed and knowing how to use resources. Gen Z lines to scream about ~stalker behavior~ because you don't realize everything on the internet is public and forever. If scalpers cared at all, they could conver their tracks better anyways.

>> No.10840912

>>10840885
No, I do know that everything on the internet is public, I just think it's pretty weird to spend so much time connecting those dots and linking it all out. It's not like we didn't already know this person was a scalper.

Found this listing on poshmark. Seller is in comments arguing that this isnt a stain and will come out in the wash.

kek pretty sure it's still a stain even if it will come out. When you're looking for ways to get it out what do you google? STAIN removal.

That being said that stain looks hello permanent, especially on the ribbon. I have never gotten a stain out of grosgrain ribbon once it looks like that.
