Really tragic how she's always riding the newest trends and how she's skinwalking people like Ferro or Ophelia in a desperate attempt to stay relevant. I wish someone would tell her that her attempts at edgy oldschool and sexy goth don't suit her at all. And that if she likes dressing like this that she should just own it and accept the way it looks on her. Those are the least forgiving styles for someone who is aging and a little dorky looking and who can't accept their own little imperfections. It's like the recipe for disater.

Realize that this thread was made because of the amount of women who want to censor and put down smaller girls because of their own insecurities and jealousy.
Women will be gap material to men regardless of what we do unfortunately, your argument is very poorly thought out and you should either stick by your feminist front and let a certain body type have their voice or admit you hate women that aren’t just like you and move on.

anon, most women who are anorexic are not anorexic for male attention kek. it's usually a weird, competitive control freak thing, combined with self-harm and a desire for concern from others. a thread about being skinny, for a fashion that fits skinny women, has literally nothing to do with the male gaze

>> No.10814477

I don't for a second believe that all of you have eating disorders like you claim. I've only ever seen a handful of girls in this fashion who genuinely looked like they could be anorexic. The vast majority of lolitas who have publicly claimed to have EDs are whales seeking clout. Going on a diet does not mean you have an "eating disorder" if you are fat as fuck and literally overeating.

>inb4 but muh crash dieting, muh nutrition, muh skinny teenage years!
You 180 lb whales are not fooling anyone into believing you're currently starving. If you manage to still be overweight on a diet with zero vegetables or nutrition, you deserve your fate. Staying fat on a diet of nothing but microwave tendies and diet soda means that you have an OVEReating disorder and eat like a literal child.

I'm convinced that many of the whales on social media crying about their "former eating disorder" are just trying to justify why they've gone from an actually normal weight to obviously fat. These types are usually the most vocal about not discussing weight, and forcing people to use trigger warnings. We ALL know you're not going to get "triggered" back into being thin, don't kid yourselves.

It's such a cope. Instead of simply acknowledging that their activity has gone way down since high school, and their food intake has gone way up, they would rather pretend like they overcame some eating disorder and are a special snowflake who needs to be treated with kid gloves lest they relapse. Many of them are literally delusional about their weight and don't even think they're fat (like some Houston cows).

Early 2000’s skirts are notoriously small. Mine start to feel uncomfortable at the end of the day with a 65 cm waist. More modern JSKs, especially with shirring, tend to be much bigger. I’ve had JSKs with half shirring that were so baggy on me that someone standing behind me could look down and see the waistband of my petticoat. Idk why so many people seem to think there is one single ‘ideal’ body type for lolita because fit differs so much between brands, time periods and types of garment. Someone who fits perfectly into VM is going to be drowning in most AP pieces and someone who fits comfortably in modern Moitie may not be able to even zip up Moitie’s older pieces. Skinny models who look great in everything probably have the clothes clipped back on them or temporarily altered for the duration of the photoshoot or fashion show. It’s a common practice.

anon this is basic science. people who recover may or may not recover from metabolic damage and tend to end up with cardiovascular damage too (hence why heart attack is the leading cause of death for anachans, including AFTER recovery) so exercise becomes permanently hard even when you’re no longer starving. Leaving starvation mode after being in it for so long actually fucks up protein regulation because you starved your brain too. Doing anything bad to your body for a long period of time will cause long term damage, that’s just a fact in any form.

instant gratification, desperation, pressure to look a certain way, some other people not understanding or respecting that sustainable weight loss takes a lot of time and consistent habits, people with conditions that make their weight loss slower (such as insulin resistance, down regulated metabolism, hypothyroidism, etc) either give up or double down by picking more extreme methods to lose weight.

I was effortlessly thin with a flat stomach until I was 21. I was also a judgmental shitbag who thought overweight people were greedy and lazy because if I didn't have to do anything to maintain my weight and I could still eat what I wanted then what were these fat people doing in order stay their size? I had no irl example of what fat people ate so I imaged them like pigs sitting down to a table laden with a large buffet.
Then like karmic justice I gained 10 kg in a year even though my eating habits were the same, I kept fainting and needed to sleep a lot more.
I was exhausted all the time, my skin pale and my hair falling out. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism but even after I started on meds the weight didn't just fall off like I wanted it to.
In hindsight I probably didn't give it enough time anyway.
What followed was many cycles of jo jo dieting with increasingly extreme methods. I'm doing a lot better now but my point is I remember being that ignorant, shallow and judgmental person

It doesn't have to be permanent, but you have to do certain things in order to restore that metabolism. Reverse dieting is one of those methods.
I'm not surprised the large majority of women who diet don't know about that. I heard about it rather late as well.

>Like what does "regular sized" mean?
I know you're trying to make the point that regular size isn't something concrete (which I agree with to an extent, average height can vary a lot country by country), but I felt the need to point out that in the fashion industry that there IS a such a thing as regular sized and there is what's called a "size break" between those and plus sizes. The tldr of this is that at a certain level of fatness, you can't keep grading up the same pattern anymore because the proportions are too different and you've got a completely different shape. You have to start over with new patterns (which is expensive and companies aren't willing to take that financial risk if they don't think there's a market for it). So when I see fatties whining that there aren't things in their sizes, I want to point stuff like this out.
If you're interested in the nitty gritty of this, fashion incubator has several great posts on it

I thought what that anon meant was "regular sized" according to what's considered a regular sized person in their country/state, not in the context of the fashion industry and brand clothing lines.
I asked "what is regular?" because what might be considered regular to people from a certain US state, might be considered fat by people from a certain european or asian country.
This is also why I said it's so difficult to have a conversation about this topic because people's personal definitions of fat, skinny, chubby, slim etc vary so much. It's not objective enough.
BMI is more objective but it's also quite difficult to accurately pinpoint the bmi of someone just from their picture alone.
BMI also just estimates body fat % and weight related health risk, it doesn't measure them.

So with these difficulties I think that threads like these will always have some amount of arguing when someone posts a picture and then someone else argues that the person in the picture isn't skinny enough.
That reminds me of a lolita from my local comm who told me she applied to a plus sized lolita group but they didn't let her in because she didn't look plus sized.

Anyway, it is a topic that does interest me and still makes me scratch my head some times even after my fashion education. I noticed that where female plus size starts and ends isn't set in stone, it depends on the brand. And that very often if you find a brand that sells both menswear and women's wear they'll have one section for the regular sizes for women's wear, and one section for the plus sizes of women's wear (and you can't find the exact same design across them) whilst the menswear department manages to include all of the sizes so the design for the xxs is the same as the design for the xxxl.

If I had to guess why this is it might be because men gain weight in rather similar ways (mostly belly), but you've got a range of body types for fat women. Apple, pear, hourglass, column.

It it all subjective but when I say regular sized I mean still reasonably healthy. My perception of what skinny is includes visibly underweight, pretty lanky or bony looking. Height-weight proportionate short girls, healthy or only slightly underweight BMI looking people, etc. aren't really "skinny".

Just about every photo in this thread is of people who are just healthy weights and some aren't even "slim" looking just middle of the road, especially many of the Asian women who are also probably just short and not fat. So they're small yes but not skinny per se.

I'm not an ana-chan though and I don't want or need to see anyone thinner, I just clarified my feelings because I find the thread pointless because it feels like a fat person looking at pretty normal or healthy bodies and seeing that as thinspo if they really think the majority of girls itt read as "skinny".

>> No.10815316

>>10815314
thanks for elaborating.

For me the scale goes:
emaciated->skinny->slim->normal->chubby (but still healthy)->overweight->obese->american obese

I've noticed that when most people say skinny it's similar to my definition of slim. What I consider skinny has a little more bone definition than slim.
When there's a thread with this title I expect that most of the pictures are of people who are at least slim.
Whether I consider a slightly underweight girl or woman skinny really depends on bone definition and body fat %.

I realize I might not be 100% consistent, I usually just go off what I see.

I know im going to get shidded on for this by anachans and wokeys alike but here’s my harangue

I think wearer’s height & fat distribution impact how lolita clothes look just as much as weight. A lot of lolita dresses are simply not cut for people with boobs or people over like 5’4” (read: 95% of western women). If you’re taller or have a fuller bust, that turns the A-line silhouette of most Japanese brand lolita dresses into an empire waist one which imo isn’t very flattering on most people (especially boobier people). This is a fit malfunction I see on lolitas quite often.

Im not pointing this out to be an elitist cunt. I wished there was a brand that makes tall sized or boob-inclusive lolita clothes that aren’t fugly.

I agree.

Lolita isn't a very flattering/slimming fashion to begin with. Then if you're tall and/or have big boobs the brand stuff probably won't fit right/look as good as it could.
It's a common complaint how many dresses have a raised waist to begin with.

Regarding fat distribution I think people with an apple body shape are going to have the worst time. Nothing will look as good on them as it could, the only thing they can do is get rid of excess fat in their midsection.

It's the same with mainstream fashion, the clothes just look worse on an apple body shape.

Overweight lolitas can still look okay if they have the right proportions/silhouette and know how to dress.

There are very few genuinely skinny lolitas with giant natural boobs. The reason most of those women still look broad around the chest after the reduction is because they are usually still fat and didn't bother try losing weight first. No one's boobs are 100% breast tissue, fat definitely plays a role.

>> No.10815487

>>10815438
I actually completely disagree. If you're an "apple" shape (but not overweight) then your legs and arms will still look petite and cute since your waist is at least covered up and cinched in. You might not be able to wear some old school skirts, but all the newer things will still fit you (again, if youre not a whale). Whereas if your arms and legs are fat, it will be VERY noticeable and nearly impossible to hide. Plus, socks and sleeves are much more formfitting compared to newer waist sizes, so you will look like you are busting out.

>> No.10815491

>>10815487
I'm talking about the silhouette of the apple shape.
I was taught in fashion school that an apple shaped body has a waist that is wider than the ribcage and hips as seen from the front. That shape can happen at any size/weight but is more likely in people who are overweight or obese.
I was taught that if ribcage, waist and hips are visually the same size as seen from the front that's called a column shape if the person is fat and a ruler shape if the person is slim.

In lolita fashion, or any fashion that I know of, it's desirable that the waist is visually smaller than the ribcage. It is what looks right.
If you're not wearing an empire waist or a sack dress it will be very visible that the waist is bigger than the ribcage.

The apple's best options are sack dresses and empire waist dresses, and those don't look flattering on anyone desu.
Sure you can hide the apple in those dresses but at the cost of giving up lots of cut options.

>> No.10815505

that's not what an apple body shape is. for a woman's waist to be bigger than her chest, you would need to be flat out obese. for normal sized people, an "apple" is just someone who puts weight on in their stomach primarily, instead of their limbs or hips.

i think that the silhouette of lolita generally "fixes" that appearance if you wear a petticoat and tie your waisties snug. If you're pear shaped, then your fat limbs will only be exaggerated by lolita.

>> No.10815511

>>10815505
>you would need to be flat out obese

I've seen this on women with relatively small boobs who who were close to overweight or overweight, it doesn't just happen to the obese.
Normal sized people typically aren't apple shaped though. And that's a good thing since it's very unhealthy to have so much excess fat on the midsection.

>an "apple" is just someone who puts weight on in their stomach primarily, instead of their limbs or hips.

That says very little about the waist in proportion to the bust and hips, which is how the body shapes are defined. I'll stick with the definitions I learned in fashion school.

A real apple shape will just look awful when you apply any kind of pressure on the midsection trying to give it shape, like a belted pillow.

Pear shaped ladies can often hide their pear-ness in lolita since with a pear shaped body the hips are the widest part as seen from the front, wider than the waist and rib cage. This widest part is situated below the waist and above the knees so if you wear a knee length skirt you can hide it.
Pear shape does not require fat lower legs or fat knees, it doesn't even necessarily mean fat upper legs.
You can be a pear just by having wide hips. Some very slim people are pear shaped just because of their hip bones.

body shapes in fashion are categorized based on the relation of the shoulders, bust, waist and hips to each other as seen from the front. It's about the silhouette. It's not based on measurements because someone with wide hips and a flat ass will have different measurements from someone with equally wide hips but prominent buttocks. They can still look the same from the front.
Some people try to use measurements to pick what body shape they have but it's very unreliable.

I get it might not look as intended when wearing the standard brand size but there are other options such as bigger sizing, custom sizing and DIY (only if it's good quality).

I see slim lolitas complaining about their own shoulder width and ribcage when they don't have big boobs, but I don't think that should be enough reason to give up on an alternative fashion. Otherwise it just sends the message that you need to look like the lolita ideal (slim, narrow framed, young, etc).

I had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy with no reconstruction when I was 25. Meaning I am flat chested. My "bust" measurement is 32 and my waist is 26. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine a woman who has small or no breasts with a smaller ribcage than me could have very similar bust and waist measurements without being obese. A 28 chest and 28 waist would be plausible for someone who doesn't have a lot of waist definition. Building up certain muscle groups can also make you lose waist definition. I never used an athletic person as an example of an apple body shape. Women who are really into fitness can sometimes lose their waist definition, which leads to a straight up and down "ruler" body shape. That's not the same as an apple body shape.

For someone to be an apple shape their waist needs to project further to the side in the silhouette as seen from the front (ie it needs to be visually wider) than the ribcage and hips.
A paunchy stomach does not automatically mean someone has an apple figure, it needs to be wider visually than bust and hips. If it's equally wide it's a ruler or column shape depending on fatness.

I think you're taking it way too literally. Most people classify their body shapes just by where they tend to put on weight more. It's some thing that stays the same as your weight fluctuates. So even if you're skinny and not shaped like a round fat ass, some people still consider themselves "apple shaped" because they tend to put on weight in their stomach rather than in their boobs, limbs, or hips

that's the whole reason this conversation started. We were talking about thin, apple-shaped Lolitas. if you are overly literal about the definition, then no such thing exists unless you are a fat ass. But if you define it by where you tend to store your weight, then sure

Yes, it's true a lot of lolitas judge other lolita's body shape and size. This is not that strange though since it's a fashion hobby and the way your body looks influences what the complete picture (someone wearing an outfit) will look like.
At the same time though of course no-one outside of CGL, the farms or private conversation will admit they are judgmental.
Some people parrot body positive talking points in public and body shame in private.
I have a problem with the pretense, with the fake wokeness.

Some gulls are also like "fat people shouldn't wear lolita fashion".
I admit I think fat people don't look as good in lolita fashion as they would have if they became a healthy weight. But I don't think they should quit just because I think some of them are shocking to look at.

-omnivore high volume eating = big amounts of low calorie vegetables and fruits. Large salads are a staple food. As are broth based soups. There's usually a tiny amount of boiled chicken breast or a hard boiled egg somewhere.

-cigarettes and coffee during the day, and then eat a little less than a normal portion when eating with family or any meal they can't get out of, just to keep up appearances.

-high carb low fat, for example fruitarianism. This is just more fruits and sometimes vegetables and nothing else.

-OMAD (one meal a day) low carb or even carnivore diet.

The point of all of these is that if combined with calorie counting and calorie restriction they make it easy to stay in a calorie deficit or maintain a low weight.

No one can. It's a stupid redundant thing to tell someone

This thread reminds me of how much I hate myself. I hate myself for something I can't even control. I've been ana/mia before, lots of times, for years all throughout high school. Despite how thin I was, I could never be cute. I was too tall. I couldn't wear cute clothes. Brand lolita looked like I was whoring myself. It didn't matter how thin I was because it always looked like an overgrown child. I am damn near six fucking foot tall. Would never in my life wear heels. My calves are wide and manly, despite being under 120 pounds. I hate myself. I hate myself for having a closet full of brand and I haven't been to ameet up in almost ten fucking years because of it. The last J-fashion related thing I attended was a con where Misako Aoki was a guest of honor. I got my photo taken with her and I was literally almost a full foot taller than her. I am so embarrased by this photo. All of the girls in my local comm were posting photos of themselves with her and they all were similar heights. Then you see me, a god damn fucking giant, towering over her like a monster. I hate myself. I could never be cute, no matter how thin I was, the clothes never fit properly. I could never be an ideal cute lolita. I hate myself.

I'm also nearly 6ft tall and wear big chunky platforms and heels on purpose.
I guess some of us hate being supermodel height and weight but I enjoy it.
When I tower over other lolitas to me it's just kind of funny. In gothic Lolita I feel like bayonetta
Anon I think you should get some therapy and rethink your own self perception

You sound like you need therapy, ita.

obviously lolita is one-specific-silhouette-based and kibbe doesn't apply to it but unless you're a lifestyler do you not wear normie clothes EVER? do you not want to know what looks good on you otherwise?

Cuts, details, fabric and print recommendations, etc. based on your kibbe type can definitely still be applied to lolita.

kibbe is about appealing to men. it's based around marilyn monroe and trying to emulate her body type and make up for what you lack.

kibbe is literally based on one random guy whose taste in fashion has not evolved since 1980 and is based entirely on white women and celebrities from the 50s and 60s.

>> No.10818691

>>10818686
That's literally the opposite of what Kibbe teaches though kek. It's based on embracing your natural features by wearing clothes that harmonize with them.

>>10818691
no, it's really not. you've been tricked into thinking that but if you pay attention to all the classifications you'd realize how dumb it is. it teaches you how to make your natural features fit into conventionally attractive stereotypes. even by it's own insane, orientalist definitions, you're supposed to make your yang features more yin through clothing. ie. you need more curves. why the fuck do you think shorter, hourglass figure is called "romantic" please explain, i'll wait.

Just do whatever you want. People are going to make you hate yourself one way or another. You wont be appealing to everyone. Just get yourself to a point that makes you happy.

I second as someone who has been in this position a long time ago. But if youre severely under weight dont pack it on too quickly either. Its gonna be a whole process

Why would you kill yourself over some pounds. Get help jfc. Whats the point in enjoying the fashion if youre going to deprive your body of what it needs. Might as well use the money for a funeral at that point.

And whats the point in spewing body positivity in public and being a pos in private? Just speak honestly. What are you afraid of the general public treating you how you guys treat people here?
