Hey I got a stupid question what the fuck does Lolita and J-fashion have to do with cosplay? Do you see wearing the cloths of another culture as a costume? that’s fucking weird

>> No.10806051

>>10806046
imo lolita and j-fashion are both fashion and are therefore unrelated to cosplay, which is dressing up as a character from books/comics/manga/video games/tv/movies/anime.

If you wear alternative fashion, no matter how weird and extreme it looks it's still fashion and you're still yourself just in clothes that aren't mainstream, and you aren't dressing up to look like a fictional character.

I own the mini and didn’t recommend it because I don’t feel it’s worth it. The poof it adds is so miniscule and doesn’t create the proper silhouette, even in oldschool inspired coords that seek to mimic the minimal petti style. I don't see how else you're going to keep it from slipping, you're going to need some kind of clip. Bobby pins will show on the outside. Alligator clips are usually harsh on the hair and kind of large.

Not sure if I should ask here or on /fa/. It's about Japanese streetwear so I guess it sorta belongs here. How do I pull off the Japanese oversized look? The reason I can't ask /fa/ is because the oversized look is way more exaggerated in Japan. In the west, it's a more subtle look. I know in the west, you buy an oversized cut in your own size, so if you're a medium, you buy an oversized medium shirt. Generally you're not supposed to just size up from medium to XL because it's going to look ill fitting, like you don't know your proper size. But that's western oversizing conventions though, which is not what I want.

So what are these Japanese people doing exactly? Is it like the west where if someone is a size medium, they just buy an outfit meant to look oversized in a size medium, except Japan just makes their oversized medium look fuck huge. Or are these people going against western conventions and sizing up three to four sizes and wearing like XXXL tees? Should I buy tees and hoodies made in Japan and made specifically for the purpose of achieving this look or can I just buy XXXL stuff in America and achieve the same look?

>> No.10809188

>>10809158
They’re smaller framed and Americans are all fucked up proportion wise. The reason you’ll never look cute like a Japanese person is because you’re not. No matter how accurate the clothing you wear is to Japanese street fashion, the second it touches your body it will look like a homeless mans clothes thrown on to a disfigured mannequin

>> No.10809193

>>10809158
There are companies focusing on a trend and some people buying clothes in larger options. If you know your measurements buy clothing that gives you the same room as the model wearing them. For instance if the model has a bust of 34 and the shirt if listed as a 40 bust, if your build is similar to that model go for that type of cut. The neck and shoulder measurements in all of your photos look standard so make sure the items you have an interest in keep that in mind. The bust width, torso length and sleeve lengths seem to be the oversized areas. Just double check the measurements and if you like how it looks on the model, see how close they are to your proportions.

>> No.10809195

>>10809158
Go to a store, find items that are oversized, look for your size, then pick one size up and another size up and try them on in the fitting room.
Confirm your theory.

Also build and proportions are fairly important. It seems to me the boys/men in the upper photos are all narrowly built, thin and undermuscled. The same goes for the girls/women.
afaik buff, as we know it in the west, isn't in for fashion stuff in japan.
Clothes are always going to look different on a narrow frame with next to no muscle compared to a medium to wide frame with what we consider a healthy amount of muscle.
Don't let your build stop you though.
You can try different oversized options to see what works.

Some oversized clothes, if you pick your size, have the shoulder seam drop off the shoulder and the neck being quite big/loose. If that's the look you're going for you can pretty much pick any garment and simply size up.

Other oversized clothes, if you pick your size, are baggy af but the shoulder seam is still in the same place you'd see with fitted garments, and the neck hole might or might not be loose.
If that's the look you're going for you can't simply pick any garment and size up, you're stuck with items that are intentionally oversized.
If you size up that shoulder seam is going to be wider and eventually drop off the shoulder too.

You could cheat by altering a normal item that is a few sizes bigger than your size and simply take in/reshape the shoulder seam.
But since most of these items are made from knit fabric I wish you good luck with that.

I'm a Yidhra's fan. I'm 1.79m and their tights fit perfectly. I don't have to force them to stretch like other random Asian tights. They fit "naturally" if you will. Quality is great.

They have two kinds of prints. One that is like a "stamp" on the tight's fabric. You can feel it to the touch, a raised feel. Like these: https://world.taobao.com/item/531758885182.htm

These go wonderfully. The print keeps shape, doesn't stretch, and looks perfect. This kind is what Yidhra has the most designs too, so you have a good selection. Base colours are usually white/black/dark blue. Not a lot of red/green unfortunately (specially green).

Then the "straight" print, where the tight's fabric itself is printed. These stretch, deforms a little and the worst: the white base tights fabric starts to show when stretched. Like these: https://world.taobao.com/item/584193928793.htm

When the print has light colours it's more or less usable, the colours get lighter and the base white isn't so much of a death sentence. When the print is dark the base white is noticeable and it looks like shit. I have two pairs like this that I had to discard for non-lolita use. Since then I stick strictly to the stamp type prints.

Non-print tights are fine, but I only ever got one. I'm a sucker for prints.

Hey, I'm the same size. Cool. Yep, most end at 42 and they consider it "big".

As the anon above said, Antaina. Good selection, makes custom, you can chat with her directly. Only once they made me a shoe a little bigger than the size I asked. Otherwise they always fit great. Straps tend to run a little too long, specially on shoes that have several straps, like at the ankle, etc (I've got two shoes like this). But you can cut them yourself and at most take them to a local shoe repair shop to give them the two stitches to join the sides (it costs like $5).

Even though lately I've bought local, more expensive but real leather and all that, I'm quite happy with Antaina. And now... there's this. The other day I was browsing Aliexpress like the filthy ita I am, and I ran into this store:

https://edeelveeys.aliexpress.com/store/top-rated-products/5837084.html

A fucking dream. Lots of shoes, colours, ready made, cheap, and almost all run up to size 48. Too good to be true for Aliexpress. They even have boots, those up to size 45. Just right to our size. How bad could they be? I'm tempted to give them a shot. As long as they approach Antaina quality I'm happy for that price. They look good at least, judging for the customer pics.

There are other Ali shops that have the same shoes, like: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003820281396.html

But they all stop at size 42/43. Only that EDEELVEEYS carries all sizes and also has the most models. Aside Antaina I've never seen any other brand of lolita shoes with sizes this big (aside commissioning something to a local shoe maker, ofc). I've got pic related in the cart....

You should definitely skip Aliexpress for dresses and "main" items, but for accessories and small stuff (bloomers, some blouse that goes under a jsk) it can be ok. Specially accessories, since you can find absolutely whatever there (well, could, lately Aliexpress search has been pretty shit). Ofc, needless to say, approach with caution.

I remember ordering several accessories from a store when I only wanted one, but I had to do it to be able to assess quality. One turned out great, the others pretty crap. So I kept the good one and gave away the others. It was still cheaper or about the same than elsewhere, assuming I could find somewhere else what I was looking for in the first place.

If your glasses make you look goofy, maybe the problem is with the frames not suiting your face? I feel like you should focus on finding a pair that really suits you, and pick a neutral color that will work with most coords - brown, black, gold/silver, beige etc. Thankfully, that's more than easy to achieve with classic.
