I think it looks fine if the tights are high quality and don't have a weird reflective sheen to them (a lot of cheaper tights do), and also are a close match to skin tone.

Dance tights do the best job at making everything look smooth and non-shiny but unfortunately most brands only carry like 5 colors and they all tend to lean orange.

probably both, but i’d reckon tutorials are the biggest factor. same effect has happened in skate boarding and other recreational activities. kick flips were so hard to accomplish/master for even intermediate skaters, but after online tutorials became normalized, it’s considered only a high novice skill. tony hawk has commented on the phenomenon, he was surprised to see people with less than a summer under their belt being able to do it.
being able to figure out what suits your face, frame, hair, and skin is 100x more accessible now a days. benefits of the information age.
