Alright folks, let me give you the straight talk.

My 'credentials': 501st Legion cosplayer since 2017, and I also cosplay a very famous Japanese series since 2020.

Comic cons and cosplay are a place where all sorts of people are around. Mostly friendly, but there are people with serious mental issues. Sexual depravity and exhibitionism can be considered that, because some people just take advantage of the 'hugbox' aspect of the comic cons, but when someone tries something, things go 'red alert' quickly. AKA: It's just for show, you cannot touch it.

I have not witnessed anything in all those years, but it may be since those who I cosplay with are usually mature people who would not do this kind of stuff.

I'd say sexual depravity in comic cons tend to follow anime and other 'younger' type of media due to the repeated stimuli for it on the media themselves. And since people who cosplay usually have some sort of dysfunction in obtaining sexual acts, this kind of stuff happens, either to try and find someone, or for exhibitionism, or for profiteering (onlyfans bait).

As much as I am a man who likes sexual things, this kind of stuff hurts cosplayers in fact, since it gives ammo to the normies to criticize our activity which is harmless, and those perpetrators with malicious intents make the cosplay 'climate' much more dangerous and unrestful.

Now if all cons had something like Dragon con where people who want to have sex so bad have the places to do so, we wouldn't have so many problems.

They do have 21+ lounges and stuff but those are basically just bars or music venues. American cons have all kinds of non-commercial fan events. Fan panels, dances/raves, karaoke and gaming rooms, and then the unofficial stuff like hotel parties and so on. Japanese cons have none of that stuff, they're basically a big dealer's hall/artist alley with a small area off to the side for cosplaying (and it's usually the only place you're allowed to cosplay) and everybody goes home as soon as the hall closes. There have been some attempts to bring more American-style cons to Japan but none have been that successful.
