I guess AX is trying to divert some of the demand by hosting a second con, but I'm pretty they have ulterior motives.

- Double-dipping for ticket proceeds
- Attempt to outcompete other cons around the same time (i.e. Anime NYC, CharaExpo USA)
- A second paid vacation for upper management, a la Otakon Vegas
- cutesy naming (lowercase AX + "ontario") without renaming the original AX means people will still flock to regular AX because it's the OG
- Ontario,CA is in California for most people in the area, rather than Canada as known to rest of people beyond California

It's gonna be successful. Conventions in general are blowing up like crazy. Ever since covid hit i have been going to a lot of the smaller cons in California and there have been a lot of people. There's literally so many small cons now and i have gone to all of them except the kcon night market thing in koreatown a couple weeks ago. But yea all these places are extremely successful. My AX in review and more:
First of all, I forgot how much fun the convention going experience is. I'm not very sociable at work or school but around random anons and even to an extent normalfags I turn into a social butterfly. The meetups and parties were a lot of fun. It was fun seeing you all, I hope to see you again next year and be able to have even more fun experiences!

2 solutions, get there early like at 8 or sooner, or get there later like at 11. If you hate lines with a passion, avoid anything popular for exhibit hall booths and panel. Bring your own food and fuck food lines all together.

Honestly, this year was pretty nice in terms of entrance lines, only got bag checked once coming back in and that was cause of the gash bell book safe that I bought from hypland. Also helped that I always used the west hall north entrance line. It might look longer than the other lines but it's single file and shorter anyway. Plus, it gives you a great route to all the halls. You can get line in for the exhibit hall immediately or petree hall/main events or take the upstairs bidge over to south hall then go to the second floor for the right most entrance to the exhibit hall or even try to go down stairs twice for artist alley.

This con was better than I thought. The gachi panel was the best, and I only bought a few items and spent about 50 on food in total (haggling for hotdogs/splurging at Toms and Okamoto). Got more into lolita fashion (someone reccomended that I get into it) and had a lot of fun at karaoke. Helped a friend repair a wig, but mostly spent time by myself.

Total spent: about 150.

I'd argue that it's associated more with California in general than it is with LA, but either way, Disneyland has enough notoriety for that mistake to be made. Ontario, CA absolutely does not. AX Ontario is not a con people are intending to fly from out of state or country to -- it's most definitely gonna be a locals' or Californian con. LA has so many other notable things in the area (including its proximity to Disneyland) that bring people to AX LA that AX ontario would not. That's why they're not similar despite being two cities Southern California. I can never understand how someone justifies themselves on spending thousands on this event. Bought only a few things, some doujin from j18, a panty & stocking blue ray (as with everyone else I’m looking forward to the new season) and a ghost in the shell shirt which I saw literally like 3 min before the con closed yesterday. The high points of the con for me is when I unknowingly stole a burger & fries from the cafeteria and just chilled inside not far from the cashiers, I mistakingly walked right past the area where you pay and they didn’t bat an eye or say a word. The religious crazies were a blast to watch, only because they would get to the part where the Bible says homosexuality is a sin and then the trigger fest would ensue. I watched the black guy in the red sonic shirt yesterday for a good bit, and you had your typical gender deviant white cosplayers screeching in his face, and very much wishing he was white so they could have a reason to assault him. There were some okay panels, got to see some kigurumi cosplayers which was very nice personally (blurring out my eyes cuz I was dead tired here) and had a chill time at the meet up Sunday. To the Lolicon guy that was in our group, there’s no shame in your game hats off to ya. All in all my con experience was pretty easy going and it was great to indulge in some escapism, and didn’t catch the coof as of yet. Til next year traps & gents.
