Do you think we'll get a print release this weekend or one of the ugly larme releases from the summer lookbook?

I wonder if they’re posting this as an excuse to deny selling to Chinese people by saying they caught them scalping? If enough Japanese lolitas were complaining about it, they might be willing to do it. The Chinese lolitas will probably get pissed but they’re not going to stop buying.
If this is true, it’s basically a way to curate who gets the in store quota. The bots will still get a lot of the online quota but they’ll be able to pick and choose in store.

I think the main target is scalpers (aka people selling things on fril for 60k). SS are a little different conceptually, because we're paying them for a service, rather than an upcharged item. Also SS don't relist things on websites.
I know they're both making a profit, and buying more stock than an individual, but I personally think scalpers are way worse than SS.

>>10781345
Yeah, but handing out a piece of paper is a bit escalated for AP. Isn't it uncharacteristic for Japan to be "direct"?

>> No.10781373

>>10781345
The only way to really control scalping and reselling is to either make everything an MTO or produce a quantity of inventory that exceeds demand so that re-selling no longer is profitable.
Everything selling out in minutes (or seconds) is incredibly frustrating for customers, but for the company it's great because:
-No leftover stock.
-Creates appearance of extremely high demand/popularity even if a lot of the sales are to scalpers.
-Generates hype and FOMO and so people buy right away without hesitation knowing that the thing in question may sell out rapidly, maybe even stuff they were on the fence about.
Bloodbath releases have been a problem with AP for years but they haven't changed their business model much due to the above factors.

>> No.10781376

>>10781363
>Isn't it uncharacteristic for Japan to be "direct"?
Depends on the scenario but in this case it does seem out of the norm. Like AP generally says no scalpers and no replicas online and has for years but maybe they haven't been as much of a worry at the physical stores until now. Especially considering most scalpers used to just be lolitas or ex lolitas but now it's evolved to be people scalping just for business with no connection to the fashion.

>> No.10781378

>>10781315
I’m willing to bet they start requiring people to be wearing AP again and if they just put a dress on over regular clothes, they start requiring coords (or put some line about shop staff having discretion if they believe you’re reselling). I don’t think people would be so mad if there were majority lolitas getting items, but if it is like mk said and it’s gangs of people in normal clothes buying up the releases, ya people will get pissed.

>> No.10781382

>>10781378
I think AP should require a "properly fitting coord" so that the "non-lolita business" SS like >>10781376 said can't just throw on a dress that still has a tag. It's a pretty low bar still, but it eliminates the people who can't be bothered.
I'd be pretty pissed if I saw a bunch of old normie dudes in line at a release, trading numbers and being blatant about it. The part that gets me is how shameless it is. Like apparently they weren't even trying to hide it. Probably because there were so many doing the same thing, they didn't think they'd "get caught."

I'm one of the people who thinks it's interesting, but ugly. It has a lot of personality, but it's too "western" or whatever for me. I give AP props for making a unique bag, it's just misguided on subject matter.

I just got my Soap Bubbles JSK today, and I can immediately the manufacturing is better than it was for Candy Fairy. It really makes me wonder if the quality control on the MTO was messed up, or if they got so many orders and panicked with the China lockdowns/delays that they just didn't care anymore.
All the sewing and bows on Soap Bubbles looks straight and nice, while my Candy Fairy OPs feel wonky and rushed (arm holes on my sax OP were larger and less elastic than my white OP, small bow on the chest is off centered, center bow on the waist were sewn differently, my two headbows are different shapes, etc).

I didn’t get an email. The original announcement made me think it was an in person event.

Why did AP bother with franchising to the US if they don’t give a fuck about it. Even if it was because of Linda, he’s gone. Close it down or give more care towards the SF store for fucks sake AP.

It’s basically because of Lynda. They originally franchised it to her as Starry Candy Box but she did not have a real job so she didn’t have the capital for a brick and mortar store. Harajuku Hearts did so they were able to take over the franchising and Lynda was just in charge of the online stuff until people realized she’s an alt right nut and she was ousted.
I’m sure they stick with it because it would be rude to pull it at this point or some other weird Japanese thing. They refused to stop working with Lynda even though she was nuts just because she was the one that got them to the US in the first place with Cosplay Oneesan. Before that they had no way to buy if you weren’t in Japan or using a shopping service. After they came to the US in 2007 they opened the international site (which was a glorified forwarding service and a giant pain in the ass to use).

If AP does another hyped rerelease again without making it an MTO, I'm going to pull out my hair. I was lucky enough to get Soap Bubbles during my third attempt at online shop releases, but it was really annoying.

I would guess Dream Doll, but I'm not sure how well they would replicate the side bow/veil thing on the JSK. But if AP were redesigning the series with heart tulle all in one go, I guess they might try this one.

I want to look forward to it, but all I feel now is doom and gloom based on AP's recent behavior. And Candy Fairy honestly disappointed me when I finally received it.
