Yes, but all of them just turn into a few anons thinking it's their blog or just people larping to derail. I'm fairly certain that most people just moved this into their respective discord servers for discussion or whatever social media they use for a blog.

Are you seriously considering going to all of these? I'm sure you can afford it but tying up all of those PTO days while dealing with airports/flights just to do mostly the same things over and over again doesn't seem very enjoyable to me. This is what I was afraid of, but it was more about getting potential meetups together in numerous places in advance or just saying "Yeah, there's a better one in that same city at another time and I'm going there instead. You should too." The chances of bumping into these various folks across the country is guaranteed anyway, cause it's happened a ton of times already. That, and Discord is surprisingly not as helpful as you might think, at least not always.

When you have a meme job, you can just go wherever you want, when you want at the drop of a hat. It's also less about conventions themselves as meetups and afterparties. I've done something like 6 cons or at least adjacent events this year already.

You know you're on a board full of threads and posts with exactly that as the topic and discussion in them right? You're going to more cons in one year than some people do in their entire cosplay lifespan, you gotta understand CGL is actually quite a small piece of the entire cosplay community these days as most people legit fucked off to discord or whatever. Unironically try reddit or whatever facebook group the con of the week you're going to has.

Yes, of course I do. Given the obvious lack of usernames, it was to get people in one place. Yes, I'm well aware my schedule is extremely booked compared to most, yet still, others I've met who take it even further. There are also too many times to count where I'm at one event, then somebody from a Discord group (probably adjacent to this board) walks right by, and neither of knew the other would be there. He seemed to like it well enough. Plus another one who "lives" right down the street from the Bangkok one. Told him to go twice, he has refused twice. You realize not everyone on discord or 4chan wants to meet up with other anons simply because they are in the same general area right? Who cares if people don't know Anon 45374 is at the con and they missed them, there a bunch of people at the convention to meet and things to do. You even think that maybe some of these people simply want to enjoy the con by themselves? Not everyone wants to be in a group at conventions especially when it comes to people from 4chan who could either be really cool or some weirdo who you wish you just kept walking by.

Not everyone is a schizo anal retentive sperg nor do they contain such a lack of restraint that fuels the need to necessitate insistent commentary on trivial ideas they don't like.

This will be my first time to both of these cons, if I can make it to Momo.
I regret not branching out to see more Eastward cons, especially now that events being ran in California are kind of iffy affairs.
LVL Up this year was a banger and one I definitely did not expect, I definitely recommend.

The divide between people who are gung-ho for meetups (like me) and the ones who seem utterly revolted by the idea is just enormous isn't it?

This thread is still in (what I hope to be) the baby step phase, and yet my "experiment" is already yielding results I really should have expected. Namely, trying to be positive or even neutral about anything here will result in hostility, bitchiness, catty remarks, insults, etc. Regardless, I'm pressing onwards.

First Momo here as well. Wanted to do Colossal North until seeing they picked the exact same weekend as Texas.

Only "iffy"? Hm, I expected much worse. Having never been myself, it also seems the drama I've heard about in the California scene is worse than average. That remains to be seen at Touhoufest next year.

Wow that was a bad move whoever made that decision, especially since Colossal has an all con pass, that's kind of screwing their attendees over.

California will be dropping the Vaccine and Negative Test mandate on April 1st which in turn should mean TouhouFest and the rest of the Cali cons are finally fit to plan their cons as per pre-2020 standards. Doesn't fix the existence of the California con scene's other issues, but we shall see who floats and who capsizes by attempting unnecessary policy preservation. I wish TouhouFest liberated success. Hope to be there to witness it.

Definitely was not 100,000+, though definitely would be crazy if it was. I would say probably 30,000 attendees? Considering LVL Up was so small back in 2014 it's incredible to see. The security lines were a bit too long for sure, it was a 45 minute - 1 hour wait to get in on Saturday.

Let's focus on what your qualms might be since you seem to be >>10745398 and a girl. I and many others empathize with having worries regarding creepers and stalkers, maybe you had to deal with one too.
There's nothing wrong with OP recognizing an itinerary - the US cosplay sphere is a small world and cosplayers are usually very public about where they will cosplay.
However as (You) most likely said:

None of us are likely to ever meet but do try to understand the opposite is true of the following:

That would cause me to burnout on going to cons. Even with a good salary you'd take a good hit to finances. Me personaly, I'd take the time and money to go to Comiket and AnimeJapan.

I'm attending KawaiiKon in Honolulu just for the fuck of it. It'll be my first con, but I'm only going as a favor and to see what it's like.

A buddy and I are going to Gacucon, though, and we plan to cosplay, among other things. Pretty excited, just hope I can get my cosplay finished before then.

These kinds of responses have now got me wondering what draws in people to these events in the first place. I don't find it repetitive at all when there's always something goofy that happens or an unexpected change of plans with whoever's hanging around me. Legit have lost count how many I've done since Anime Dallas 2020 but it's gotta be close to two dozen and still not burned out.

I think you can still just get a room from Royal Caribbean and get the ticket alone. You just won't be in the same block as everyone else, which might work to your benefit. Would have gone to Momocon as well since it's otw back home, but I missed it by a few days flight-wise.

Literally only Sakura con so far. I have a remote job so I could go wherever, my issue is more just coming up with cosplays for that many cons. I have very little con experience but have had a great time at the only ones I've been to so far.

Never met anyone from /cgl/ yet though, my roommates I both met from /v/ however.

Are you going to this year's? The confirmed turnout for gulls is quite high, especially given how far out of the way it is for nearly all of us. Apparently there's gonna be a bunch in the hostel I booked just earlier today too.

ANYC had a fuck up recently where they're trying to jew more money out of their attendees, they limited the cap of 3day passes to less than 10% of previous years entire attendance and it sold out already within the first hour. They
also partnered with a ticket trading site for the first time so I don't even know what to say other than them being extremely dubious. They might open up more tickets but if they don't, then expect to pay $190ish for 3 days

yeah, I saw that. In a way it's worse than SDCC because with SDCC there's no discount if you buy multiple days or not, so you're not losing anything if you don't manage to get a four day badge. My trip will depend entirely on whether they get good Japanese guests. If it's just Americans I have all the closer cons for that.
