Part 2
I left out basics like undergarments and headwear, since those are mostly generic designs every brand has done at some point. Some of these are clearly inspired by these pieces, but I was surprised to find out how similar some ended up being to their brand counterparts.

I hope RRM does some more black x white stuff like skirts.

Not that anon, and no vendetta but yikes, I didn't know so much of their stuff was directly copied. Most old school looks pretty similar, so having it in the same ballpark is to be expected (i.e. the skirts, the blouse, and the apron) but the rest is a bit on the nose.

>> No.10737433

>>10737429
It really isn't though. Compare AP and Baby designs for some old school styles and you'd be able to find similar photos

>> No.10737436

I don't give a single fuck if they're original, it's basic bitch old school. As >>10737433 said, you could probably nitpick other brands and find extremely similar stuff too.

>>10737436
Like, even those brand trousers are a stretch. RRM made them in a different cut and wtf can you do they're tartan trousers. The IW skirt is also... wow would you look at that, they are both tartan skirts with lace (not even the same colour). The jacket is the only fair comparison in that first image.

This is all a bit cringy. Let's face it - old school lolita is quite formulaic. It's usually solid colours or tarten. I like that it's formulaic, things mix and match more than current trends.

I asked in the old thread but got no response. Does anyone have a review of the RRM stuff? I won't fork out for a main piece but am interested in bonnets etc but haven't seen non-stock images.

>> No.10737473

Inspired doesn't mean make a nearly identical copy and then sell it for 500 dollars. Cope & seethe britfags.

>> No.10737475

>>10737469
It seems formulaic now because of instagram trends (same cheapo babydoll jsks, same skirts, black and white and tartan combos, taobao lace top otks, maybe throw on a band tee), if you've actually looked at any of the fashion at the time the outfits were quite unique. It is possible to come up with something original instead of modifying a glb pattern and hoping nobody notices.

Hey guess what? You can hold large corporations accountable AND support sustainable options at the same time! Wow. Saying it's all corporations fault is just delusional, fashion is the second most polluting industry on the planet and it's largely driven by first world consumers. If you are a first world fashion consumer you are absolutely part of the problem. Corporations make what people want, and people currently want cheap crap. If no one buys cheap crap guess what? They don't make it for nobody. Think otherwise is complete nonsense from people who have no idea how businesses work.

I wouldn't say it's their worst item but it certainly looks atrocious on that particular photo because everything about it is unprofessional and it looked even worse with that high price next to it. They could've propped it up nicely on that mannequin, making sure the neck straps are neat and the long sleeves tucked inside the short ones, perhaps with pins to keep them up. They could've edited the photo and adjusted the lighting so the item doesn't look grey and unappealing. RRM used a thin paper bag to ship it to the USA from the UK. I'm shocked they didn't think to put in at least a box that can be recycled? That has deterred me from wanting to buy with them because who does that for an order worth 200-500. I'd be livid.

Different anon but this. I'm tall but skinny and that cutsew looks like it'd hit inches above my waist. Everything by them looks so ridiculously short like it's made for a 150cm tall Japanese customer base. Western indie brands still don't get that they cater to a differently sized audience. It's a bit weird to think about how a defunct brand used to have a big store.

Isn't it so strange to think about? Nowadays they're a smaller defunct brand not many lolitas are interested in, but at the height of their popularity they had their own stores that could rival those of larger brands in size, and even designed costumes/provided clothes for TV shows.

Currently considering buying an old AP skirt I've had my eye on for a while, but I've heard AP's skirts can be quite short, and I'm 170cm. Should I even bother? I have a couple of old skirts from Baby and I've never had any issues with the length of those, for reference...

I'm completely okay with showing a bit of leg especially in old school, but anything higher than mid-thigh is a definite no. Pic slightly related.

I mean if you know the length of the AP skirt, all you need to do is compare that to the length measurements of the skirts you own that you like.
