Why do people do this? Even as a newbie lolita, a ponytail felt very wrong to me. Lolita was kind of the galvanizer for me to actually start caring about styling my hair and paying attention to how it reacts to particular styling. It wasn't perfect at first but I never did ponytails.

My hair texture is too tightly coiled and thick to really pull into pigtails without blowing it out with a blowdryer or straightening unfortunately, and any bangs would have to be straightened because my hair naturally grows up and out from my head like an afro, not downwards unless straightened and product applied to weigh it down, and I try to avoid applying heat. How is wearing a nice wig looking like shit? Low effort doesn't mean ugly. And I still have to plait my hair to get it to lie flat under a wig which takes a good bit of time. It's not just throwing on a wig cap and then the wig like for other hair textures.

And blowouts and straightening hair both causes damage and takes hours for my hair texture. If there is any humidity it will just revert to it's usual texture unless I drench it with an amount if product that is going to never dry and rub off on my headbow headbands. I've been fine with wigs but was hoping someone might offer insight on how to wear my natural hair in a lolita appropriate way without damaging it, since it was implied her hair wasn't ugly because of the texture but her styling choice, but the answer seems to be: wear a wig or spend hours doing something that will damage your hair every day to make the texture look different. So I'll wear a wig as I have been.
