Agreed.

Also this is an AP thread, not a taobao thread. Fuck off taobao clolita fuck. We still buy AP, we just don't buy every release. It's not ALL bad, just not within the same tastes as a lot of us have had with AP. I've bought quite a few recent releases and I may have compared it to taobao prints because they are cluttered, but in terms of construction and the lace a lot of them are still WAY better than any of the trash that keeps getting posted to cgl as "the good clolita"

I'm gonna be real with you fucks, you don't buy AP. You're too fucking poor to really compare quality, so get the fuck out of my thread and off my board you clolita newfags.

It’s a good deal on paper but sometimes they include weird cuts or sample pieces from leftover MTO fabric which don’t fetch much more than ¥20k second hand. There’s a good chance it’s mostly Galaxy Cocktail OPs and JSKs this year which have been selling for ¥20~25k, however that would change if the market was suddenly flooded with them

>>10713378
Definitely not worth it. Not just the lampshade effect, but even at the second hand price point you could swing a me likes tea or a+a petti coat which are much better and like 1/8 of the retail price. Hell even the largest bodyline petticoat is a step up in terms of poof and longevity, though it is scratchy as hell.

I disagree, I have an AP one, two MLTs, and A+A. I’m a daily and prefer wearing the AP one because it’s a good cupcake shape and if most of your dresses are AP they aren’t too short at all and the poof is just enough. My MLTs while very effective give me immense back pain, so I only wear those for photos now. A+A is much more A-line. For meets, I layer the A+A and AP on top for a good cupcake. If you find one secondhand in good condition, I’d go for it. Just steam the layers and they come back to life.

People probably are out here trying to wear clolita with AP petticoats. Realistically, I can't understand how an AP petticoat would ever be shorter. Their stock photos are their petticoats? Do those looks awkwardly shaped? no? then there you go.

Also to add: I think AP USA straight up only got one of each color of these shoes. Brown stayed in stock and then as soon as I checked out they were out. Then I went to check the red ones leftover stock in Land there was only one pair. Makes me suspect they only had one of each color and size. Or at least for the Ls. I mean I’ve seen them in the store, they’re weirdly short and flat. Same with Baby. All I wear is AP and baby and I wouldn’t touch one of their petticoats. I have a few from Meta, MeLikesTea, and a Ronova, and a small BL I put under old school. AP Pettit are trash, sorry. And angelic pretty dresses are a lot longer than they used to be, so maybe that’s why they give the lampshade effect now and they didn’t used to. Go look at the Instagram post from December 26 from the Paris store. You can see them putting a petticoat on a manikin and they have to layer two to just to give a small poof for a Salopette. And it doesn’t peek out the bottom when salopettes are shorter than a full JSK

And I don’t know why you would assume they use their own petticoats for the stock photos, the stock photos have insane amounts of proof. They’ll do everything possible to make the dresses look nice for the stock photo, they wouldn’t limit themselves to only using their own petticoats

Not just AP stores either. Tons of clothing brands do this, and particularly higher end ones. I'm not sure why people get so surprised by it. I wish AP would go a different direction than the toned down larme-looking trend. Honestly I don’t even care what other direction they would go, it’s just getting very repetitive and I’m not a fan of the grayish color palette. I like that they were doing retroy diner things for a while, it was something different. They’ve just been pretty one-note for quite a while and it would be cool to see a new direction. They always have a few releases like happy garland and jelly candy toys that are supposed to be catering to people that like more OTT sweet, but as a whole the brand has become very muted, larme, almost like a sweet classic vibe.
If they were going to go in a new direction stylistically, what would you guys like to see? Besides 2010 sweet which a lot of people obviously really like.

I just had to throw out my Melty Chocolate bag from 2013. It's only been taken out less then a handful of times and within the last year it went from perfect condition to completely peeling apart. I didn't even wear it or take it outside; I had to check it twice while re-arranging things in my closet, so I saw it "fine" in early 2021 and last week it was wrecked.

It really depends on the quality of the PU. In my experience it’s really hit or miss with AP. My Royal Chocolate bag is a total champ, but you can tell that the PU is way tougher just by touching it. It feels almost like solid plastic. My soft PU moon bag disintegrated so quickly.

Exactly. I even looked up salopette on lolibrary to see when they popped up and it was and 2005ish with meta and aatp being the first to use to term and eventually meta being the first to have the cut we see as a salopette today. Aside from a couple, they were all dark colors, so 100% not fairy kei.
AP jumped in on the salopette wagon in 2009, but that was so the time AP began getting in its stride of the sweet supreme and experimenting a lot with cuts, prints, etc. AP was just taking an already known cut from meta and just making it pastelly sweet. So AP salopettes were influenced by another lolita brand, not fairy kei.
