It can absolutely be altered back - but easily is a relative term. It's "easy" to just have a tailor do the job.

I once bought a highly sought after sweet jsk for around $75 because it was altered in the same manner as the one above. I took it to a quality tailor and had it taken back to the original measurements for another $80, and it looks good as new, save for the missing waist ties. The jsk would easily go for $450+ unaltered. The seams have a little more wear on them on the inside of the dress, but you can't tell from the outside.

ayrt. I was referring to the fact that "easily" is a fairly generous term here. Yes, easy for you if you're taking it to a tailor, personally I would no be spending $450 on a dress I have to spend several hours ripping apart and reassembling. Have fun dealing with the perforation left on your back panel from the "extended" straps that were just randomly being sewn onto the back well below the turnback at the top edge. It's also missing the lace trim that was on the back bodice.

I don't know how this alteration ever fit anyone correctly since the back straps are a mile apart while the front ones are untouched

After seeing that auction earlier this year where the dress and KC sold for ~$1400(?) this makes me absolutely die inside.
Seems like on almost every secondhand market appliques are going for higher (which is weird to me because of how ita they used to be lol) in the last year. Do you think that these pieces will continue to increase in value, or will they ever plummet again and let me have a chance at getting this stupid fawn? There's the sweet boom of course, but could it also be that it's because it's a type of decoration and material that is not used much anymore?
Obviously the secondhand market is variable, but I still think it's interesting to speculate on why certain things sell for so much more, especially when it's so consistent even internationally now.

I don’t think she deliberately sets out to scalp. Going off her instagram I think she just has a shopping addiction and buys up all the AP in sight. She bought a lot from the JCT release but picrel strongly implies she had to go through secondhand channels to get what she wanted. UK import fees are no laughing matter - undervaluing the customs declaration only goes so far and not all sellers will take the risk. Maybe she’s getting some things a bit cheaper through a contact in China but idk, all those packages and customs handling fees still add up quickly.

I get the impression she isn’t short of money so they aren’t ~emergency sales~, I think for the most part she’s genuinely trying to make back what she paid because she pays scalper prices for hyped AP pieces and gets rinsed by HMRC. Not even wking - being a Britfag lolita really do be like that, especially since Brexit. I paid £300 in taxes and duties on my JCT stuff which was about half what it cost to buy from AP Paris.

Yes. It was some BTSSB dress that I wasn’t interested in because it didn’t fit my wardrobe. She asked me if I was interested and I said no, it doesn’t go with my wardrobe. And then tried again with “you could add some variety to it” or something and then started to tell me she needed the money, despite me saying no.

The moment I saw her post this, I knew she was going to resell 70% of it for too much. I'm a hoarder and somewhat addicted to shopping, but this is next level. Knowing you have a problem, yet repeating the same behavior over and over is insane. It makes me think she's partially lying and making some money when she sells.
