It's been a while since the last one.

Everyone's wardrobe usually has an obvious style or styles, such as a wardrobe that's mostly sweet, but what's the thing that makes your wardrobe yours? Is there an unusual running theme in your wardrobe, such as prints with bears on them, certain types of lace, or very specific colours? Do you collect specific accessories or only one type of shoe in different colours?

I have around 80 dresses.

>obvious style or styles
100% sweet and AP, almost all cotton
Some of my dresses can also cross over into hime easily.

>very specific colors?
My entire wardrobe is only pink, sax, yellow, and white. I just got done a few months ago replacing all the lavendar in my wardrobe, and now I just need to sell those pieces. I also don't buy any pieces with red in them (unless it's a very small amount). I feel like red is so harsh and distracting. Black is also a complete no-go. I also tend to buy a lot of my dresses in multiple colorways. I have at least 8-10 dresses where I own at least two colorways, if not three. So I probably only own about 60-70 unique dresses.

>specific accessories
I have a rule that I won't buy long sleeve blouses because I get hot over 70 degrees. I don't know why because I was born in Texas. I think my body is just done with heat. Detachable sleeves are okay because I can just take them off, and so are princess sleeves because they are made with lighter fabric.

>what's the thing that makes your wardrobe yours?
My wardrobe is very cohesive. I feel like most people have branched out into different styles or colors. Meanwhile I've been hyperfocused on sweet for years and I don't think it will change at this point. I also have a large collection of AP jewelry that I'm pretty happy about. I feel like it's the heart of my wardrobe.

>what's the thing that makes your wardrobe yours?

That there is no style or theme, I just can't decide on a substyle.

I have around 90 dresses, almost all of them sweet with a handful of outliers that are classic or gothic. I have an extra soft spot for anything with custom lace but it’s not a requirement or anything. I’ll buy just about any color and I love jewelry and shoes so I have a large collection of those too.

I'm basically a lonelita actually, and only ever been to three in-person events/meets. Not sure if my social media is enough to give me away, but I'd be impressed if you knew who I was!

Should I convert my closet into a 2 row closet like >>10596350 ? Idk if it's even worth the effort but my stuff is really really cramped

I don't think my wardrobe is special, but I guess the theme is the variety of cute animals. I don't collect just cats or just bunnies or just pink or just AP. Gotta catch 'em all, all the cuties.

chipmunks, chicks, ducks, squirrels, kitties, puppies, deer, lambs, wolves, bears, leopards, bunnies - a cat dressed as a bunny. I've got all that shit and more. cats as nesting dolls? girl, you know I do. the crown jewel of my collection is the hedgehogs.

I'm entirely split between all 3 main substyles, but the running theme of my wardrobe is just being in love with solids. I have very few print dresses unless I fall completely in love. I do like patterns such as tartan or polka dots, though. For accessories I usually go with pearls and either black or red roses.

My wardrobe has a few things:

>black op/jsk with cute animals on them, from oldschool style to hime

>vm and mm floral prints

>a random moitie jsk

>collection of really new princess style baby stuff

>random oldschool cornet/heart e in solid light pink or black specifically.

I like very muted and toned down stuff unless it’s 2021 baby i guess!

I'm at 30+ main pieces 100% burando. Pastel sweet, gothic, and classic are all represented more or less equally.

The biggest themes
>fairytale vibe (especially castles and mermaids)
>classic lit
>nautical
>50's retro inspired

I’m clocking in at ~240 main pieces currently. I feel like I’m finally happy with my wardrobe after almost a decade. I still have dream dresses but I’m trying to just enjoy my wardrobe instead of stalking sales like I used to.

My current struggle is that I spend half the week at my boyfriend’s house, and he just doesn’t have the best storage space for keeping a part of my wardrobe there. I really hate getting dressed without my entire wardrobe at my fingertips.

I basically only buy pieces with rose lace on them, and all of my accessories are rose themed in some way. I've turned down deals on dresses I thought were otherwise cute because they didn't have any roses, so I can't imagine being able to coord them

My wardrobe has mostly marine/celestial theme with focus on brown/beige/navy colorways, but I also have an interest in country and classic, so it's still all over the place atm

>> No.10601869

I have around 40 main pieces and mostly AP. The print themes I have the most of are food prints such as berries, bakery, candy, ice cream, etc in mostly ivory and brown color ways ways with occasional yellow and soft pinks.

That being said. I’m moving to Japan at the end of the year and while my wardrobe isn’t considered very big, I do have a lot of bags, accessories, shoes, and basically everything else to make complete coords. I’m deciding if I should bring them all so I have more chances to wear them or to store some back home since the move is temporary. At the same time I’m pretty certain I will start buying way more which means moving back with more stuff.

Any Lolitas who have made the move to Japan have any tips on bringing their wardrobe? Should I bring everything or just buy new and bring back?

I came over for a year initially and now it’s almost been five. My suggestion is to leave most things like shoes and bags at home, and maybe bring your more favorite JSKs. Of course the shoe advice depends on how easily you can buy shoes here.

But honestly I would just avoid bringing and collecting lots of stuff because in some ways I feel trapped here by the amount of stuff I have and the level of effort it would require to return to my home country.

Do it. I had my closet redone and it was the best investment I've ever made. It went from a single bar spanning two walls with a shelf above it to a full wall double-stacked and then floor-to-ceiling shelves.
If your closet has a corner in it, then some space is wasted where the hangars can intersect. I just had one side go all the way into the corner and the other side had an extra support wall put up to divide them. Lost no hangar space on one side and gained the whole corner. Of course, it's not super convenient to get things deep in the corner now, but everything can hang up easily.

I moved into a house with a completely empty closet—no bar at all. It took me a few hours to install an IKEA closet system, and I’m incompetent. It was fast, easy, and cheap.

I have 200 over pieces, I lost count and I couldn't be bothered to keep count after a while. My taste is all over the place but it's usually in darker colors, I don't wear sweet much. With the pandemic I've been a shut in and I live in basic clothes all day, my dresses are languishing.
How do people even keep up the energy to wear cute clothes everyday?

>> No.10602001

I'd love to hear storage solutions/techniques especially for accessories like bows, waist ties, etc. I store all my detachable bows/waist ties/ribbons/etc. in one box and it makes looking for things messy, but it also feels stupid to pin them all back to the dress since I don't want to have pin marks left behind from the weight hanging on to the dress. Any good ideas?

>> No.10602002 [DELETED]

>>10602001
Why don’t you just... hang them with the dress on the same hanger? Why would you even store waist ties separately?

Thanks for your advice! My stay in Japan will be a couple years but it could turn out to be more. Anything I leave behind will be put into a storage unit which is also a reason why I’m hesitant on leaving my wardrobe. It’s not like leaving my belongings with family in a house.

Luckily I do fit in Japanese shoes sizes so maybe I don’t need to bring as many as you suggested! Any other tips?

>>10601951
At this point it feels like I’m hoarding cause I’m still buying but not wearing. I hope to be able to wear more in Japan though.

I don't always wear waist ties with the dress, and often I don't wear them at all (I usually wear an outer and the waist tie makes a lumpy shape) so there's no point in having them out collecting dust, but it's also frustrating to have to dig through a box to look for them. I can hang them on the hanger, do you do that with the bows too?

If you're only going for a year and you fit japanese sizing easily, take an initial capsule wardrobe since you'll be able to get heaps of things there.

Clip them to the hanger, not the dress.

Japan has shitty weather year round and it makes wearing lolita hard. It's either blustery, rainy, freezing cold or humid as hell. Meetups were rare before covid so with all that combined I don't wear it as often as I did in my country.

>> No.10609135

>obvious style or styles
Mostly gothic and darker colours these days. I have a pretty small wardrobe for a decade in the fashion because my style changed and I went from being super keen on meetups and community events to basically a lonelita who gives no fucks about trends.

>what's the thing that makes your wardrobe yours?
The mix of textures, amount of purple, and some of the associations I have with particular dresses.

>Is there an unusual running theme in your wardrobe?
Nothing out of the ordinary for lolita - my print motifs are pretty much all cats, music, and strawberries.

>specific accessories or only one type of shoe in different colours?
I have a large number of cat bags, most of which are Pooh-chan ones. I also really like mini hats and crowns despite the ita associations from the 2000s.

It would be for a couple years. I’ve brought a capsule wardrobe when I did a similar move to UK and was able to return home to the states halfway and swap dresses for the next season. I may consider that again but it was a chore going to the storage unit to dig out dresses and pack into a suitcase.

>>10605643
Japan definitely doesn’t have good weather but at least there’s cute cafes, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, cultural events, flower seasons, etc that I can imagine dressing up for at least a few times a month compared to now not dressing Lolita for who knows how long. As long as I can hang out with a friend I don’t mind not going to “meets”
