Agree. Imho any offer for 30% or more off is insultingly low, and just reads to me as a poorfag who’s going to be a pain in my ass to sell to.

I accepted an offer for about 38% off of a dress that had been sitting around and I just wanted to let it go. The girl said it was her dream dress and all, so I agreed. Upon arrival she goes through it with a microscope and complains about holes in the fabric from the detached bow, a loose thread on the strap, and a tiny stain from a pen or something that was in the INSIDE of the lining that I had missed. It was perfect otherwise. She asked for an additional 20% off, so I called her bluff and said no, you can return it for a full refund. She then got bitchy about it and said she didn’t want to lose the dress and ultimately decided to keep it. So not worth the hassle. I’d rather sit on my items indefinitely then risk selling to some cheap ass always looking to bargain.

I thought it was said velveteen was simply too expensive. Can't afford good fabric on 300+ dollar dresses these days, gotta have those sweet margins.

And before someone complains, I'm just mad that they could do it for years but now that lolita and AP as a brand are actually more populair (also thanks to Chinese market), and we see quality only going downhill and velveteen is "too expensive". Feels like they just care more for milking it instead of making money. Especially with AP already having had quality issues due to budget cuts before, like using cheaper fabric and bad sewing from poor countries. Meanwhile some smaller Japanese brands can still keep the quality up for the same price as always while having way less popularity. No way that it's just "too expensive" and not simply wanting to make as much money for as little as possible because you're popular anyways.

Sure, but velveteen is a type of weave, not a type of material. Velvet and velveteen are actually the same weave, but velveteen was made of cotton and velvet was made out of silk. If it’s made out of artificial fabrics generally they’re usually just called velvet. Velveteen will feel stiffer than velvet so I guess maybe now they’re differentiated by the pliability of the fabric? I’m still under the impression that if some thing is labeled velveteen it’s generally cotton even to this day, because artificial materials won’t create the stiffness that makes it velveteen and not velvet. But even if the velveteen is now sometimes poly, just saying it’s velveteen doesn’t mean it can’t be cotton. It doesn’t make sense.

>Velvet and velveteen are actually the same weave, but velveteen was made of cotton and velvet was made out of silk.
This is not always true, the difference is the pile length and the drape. They can also both be made of silk for example.

I'm not saying velveteen can't be cotton. I'm saying velveteen doesn't equal cotton, since you literally said:
>Velveteen is cotton
Which isn't necessarily true. It could be, but it could just as well not be.
And I'm saying a lot of time in lolita it tends to be synthetic. Not saying all lolita is, because I can't possibly know each lolita peace that ever came into existence and especially on older releases I'm willing to believe some where cotton. But lolita pieces labled as velveteen tend to be synthetic in my experience.

>"if this doesn't sell, it will be donated to charity shops"

I've done this, if you want my perspective on it. But on my listings it's purely reserved for things that are already cheap, like $10 Bodyline skirts/blouses.

I'm aware the buyer may think it's not "worth" it, that's not what they're paying for. The $10 is for the time and effort of babysitting a low-value transaction, having to package it and take it to the post office, stand in line, deal with posting it, getting a tracking number, and possibly having to follow up with the post office after posting.

My job pays well enough that I just don't want to run around for someone who's paying me $10. At that point I'd rather just put the skirt in a donation bin and be done with it.

Now, the thing is, if I give it away for free, won't I end up having to also babysit the transaction, package it, take it to the post office, stand in line, deal with posting it, getting a tracking number, and then deal with having to follow up after posting? I don't save myself any hard work if I give it away to someone for free. But if I just dump it in a bin somewhere, it's done, easy.

I don't know about those that are slapping it on higher value items. Maybe they have higher standards of how much they should be paid to go to the post office/babysit a transaction. Or else like you said it's to make potential buyers panic-buy. It certainly loses its effect if they end up relisting the item, though.

I'm so sorry you anons missed out. It really is a gorgeous blouse. The only reason I ended up selling it was that the combination of narrow shoulders and un-elasticated cuffs made it so that when I buttoned them, it was on that level of "it fits but I can't raise my arms". It absolutely breaks my heart too, because I'd had it on my wishlist for so long before I finally found it. It hurts when you finally get a dream item and it doesn't fit (in a way that you really can't do anything about).

I wish you both the very best at being able to find the blouse someday. Pretty much everything will pop up on the secondhand market eventually, it's just a matter of waiting. I looked for it for years before I found it, so I'm sure you'll both get your hands on it eventually!

I'm the same like you. I could never send out an unwashed item. I double check every inch, take multiple photos from different angles and under different light. I'm so paranoid about getting in trouble because paypal tends to side with the buyer almost every time.

On the other side I received items in bad condition, with bad packaging from all over the world. The worst experiences I had was with a seller from Russia sending me an unwashed item witj a used tissue left in the pocket and damages which weren't mentioned. Plus the shipping took ages. I also got unwashed items from France and the Netherlands which were drowned in perfume instead and covered in human hair.

One time I traded with a girl from the US and she waited with sending out her dress until she got mine, which wasn't like we had agreed on before. Fun fact she demanded an expensive express shipping while she did snail mail for me (probably to save the bucks).

The other time I bought from a seagull and they didn't send out the item for months without responding at all.

I also had a buyer who didn't pay my invoice for a week without communication. That was the first time I left neutral feedback.

With hindsight I shouldn't buy and sell online at all but there are this wonderful experiences too, with buyers who appreciate my little gifts and notes, writing me personal stories that it was their dream item, sometimes showing me their coords with too.
Sellers who agree on payment plans, giving me a discount I didn't ask for and so on.

I still believe if you play nice, the others will do as well (eventually). But I also agree that lolitas are pigs.

And does it make any difference in this kind of case that it has a Make me an offer! button or not?

Aside from like 2-3 states that have lower thresholds, you do not have to report the sales because you’re not a business and it isn’t profitable income to sell personal items.

Is this hand draw with markers? Because it looks like it. The kanji aren't even properly proportioned and the drawing looks like a high school weeaboo who can't draw but is too set on becoming the next most famous mangaka. Who would even think about asking 50 dollar for that kek.

>How hard is it for people to look at TOS before buying something?
About as hard as checking the shipping price tab. I lost count how many people ask me what shipping is when it's clearly stated in the listing. Same for sizes btw. Like, I literally list the cm sizing and people still ask...

>years later sells it
>college is expensive
>laid off and eating ramen
>sells item along with others to pay for classes
>original seller mislabeled the item
>turns out the brand had an identical item but theres a slight difference
>buyer wants a full refund because the one item isnt what she wanted
>literally broke because college
>buyer says she doesn’t care and she’s contacting paypal
tf do i do? I would understand if i used the money for more brand or some weeb shit but i sold everything for my bachelors degree. Fuck me this hell is never ending.

i mean, they liked how the item looked enough to buy it, and as long as it's not a rep... i think they're clearly overreacting just so they can get their money back and keep the item.

when she files the claim, basically tell paypal what you told us and include pictures of the item it was mislabeled as to show they're basically identical?

Its a kumya pochette. The original seller listed it as one and apparently it’s the coin purse. It was my first kumya item and I didn’t even know there was a coin purse version.
The proof pictures show the coin purse chain so hopefully they side with me. I wish she would understand that I can’t do anything. I asked her to list the kumya and she said no. She told me to refund her after she sends back the lot and i have to relist it. When it would save everyone time and money if she just listed it herself.
Fuck college and fuck people like her.

What was it mislabled as and what was it really? If it was labled as something much more rare or sought after I would be pissed to. But if it are two generic or equally sought after items that's another story. Also depends how much they look alike really. Can't judge if we don't know how easy it was to make the mistake and how much such a mistake is different in value.

Did you have proof photo's at your listing? If it's nearly identical and the photo's showed the real item, I think the buyer also had to pay more attention.

With not well known releases it's often mixed up. Like all the 3F bonnets that are almost the same but some have a slightly different name. Or the AtePie corset bustle dresses where some are also called slightly different. In that case she would have to deal with it if the pictures where accurate imho. But if it's a rather clear difference or a big difference in value it's on you. For all we know it might have been labled wrongly to make more money.

She can't just take the dress and be like "it's a slightly different item than I thought", keeping both money and the dress just because you had a wrong name. If she get's a full refund she she should at least return the dress so you can resell it again, or settle with a partial refund if she keeps it. If it's on you you should pay return shipping cost, but if it's a understanable mistake return shipping is on her.

But that's just my opinion.

If you really think it's unfair you could go against the PayPal claim is she makes it. She got exactly what's on the photo's. You should have been more careful too though, let it me a lesson for next time to double check what you're selling.

idk she expects a full refund. The straps on the kumya rucksack are visible but after double checking, the chain isn’t visible on the coin purse but it also doesn’t have straps because it’s not a pochette. So I don’t know how paypal will handle it.
I wish I could refund her but my college took my entire wardrobe

she deserves to return the item for a full refund. no return, no refund. why should she do the work of relisting it for you just because you have personal problems, that's none of her business.

Kicker is when I already offer free ship then some dumb bint wants another 30% off a sub-$100 item. That's almost always when I get vindictive and don't discount that lone item while discounting the others, and it still sells to someone with more sanity.

>>10567513
Like >>10567604 said, I’ve only done this on extremely cheap shit where I’m openly saying that what the buyer is paying for is the shipping on the item. So it's the equivalent of giving it away for free and I’ve only the patience to be nice about it for a week. It is a signal for interested parties to get on it if they want it but fuck, I’ve straight up donated a bunch of taobao blouses because the buyers for that shit aren't worth the trouble.

You mean can't. She straight up admitted to barely fitting in it once and likely being the culprit who caused the fucking stretched seams and then never being able to fit in it again afterward.

I’m gonna assume the pit stains are the result of not being able to wear the damn thing with a blouse too.

I know who you are talking about. She was bragging about trying to get a refund by filing a fraud claim with her bank and potentially keeping the dress so you "couldn't scam anyone else with it". The comm was patting her on the ass about it too.
