What’s your the most/least favorite chocolate print?

I usually dislike most chocolate prints, but the goddamn bears of Bear's Chocolaterie won me over. I did used to like Melty Chocolate until I saw it in person. I do love Melty Ribbon Chocolate, but that's not really a print.

I did'nt like the print in this new release of AP it feels like it was following amateur trends in fabric desing, this fall/winter season my eyes goes to ETC and QPOT chocolate pieces specially the solid ones that had thicker fabric, I usually had my most and least favourite year by year, but the love of my life is the sweet cream house print

I'm interested to see if we get a print next week...usually they're released every other week, but there were only 5 in the fashion show lineup and we've already gotten 2. I know there was technically a 6th print, but Whip Cream Princess was an MTO and they took the reservations back in December.

Okay, not to mess with Bear Chocolatier purses, these are actually cute and work well with the print. But it's such a shame they keep giving British Bear various makeovers instead of making some more coveted stuff, especially pony bags. These seem to be becoming the new it piece with all the hype.

The thing for me is it's starting to be a pattern that the main pieces/dresses never completely sell out. Having a dress not sell is a bigger issue than a pair of socks or resin jewelry not sell. They'll miss more profit if the dress didn't sell than the accessory. I find it really, really hard to believe that AP couldn't afford to give us more sock stock for releases, especially print socks, which have proven over and over again to be one of the hardest items to obtain in a new release.

At this point I really do think AP's business people are out of touch. I think they barely attempt to understand the market and are needlessly stubborn/resistant to change. I think it's easier for them to just change nothing and weather the criticism.

Re-posting my edit from before because it feels tangentially relevant now. Although, remember how some gull said it takes like a half of year since the concept to actual release. They introduced Topping Heart last years summer, and it was like the first step in that direction. Maybe it will just take quite a while to meet the current demand.

I think the issue, even if they do produce a pair of socks per dress, is that it's so common to buy multiple pairs of socks, etc per dress colorway you might buy. So you might buy both the matching colorway and 1-2 contrasting colorways; if they produce 1:1 on colorway sets, that means 1 less for someone else's matching socks, and so on.

Given this kind of buying is common knowledge among lolitas, you'd think they would overproduce on those items, but it's hard to say if they do and it's still not enough, or what.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, socks and other accessories should always have a MTO style sale.
They make nothing having scalpers sell for 3x markup, but they would make $$$ letting us buy as much as we want from the source.

(I fail to see how printed tights, which is what a majority of their OTKs are lately, would take months to produce)

I sell accessories nwt all the time. Usually there are two reasons. Either:

1. I panic clicked and bought more than I needed. On the girly sticker otks, the page wasn’t loading up my cart and I panic clicked add to cart several times to make sure it was working and ended up with 3 of one color.
2: I generally buy more than I end up wearing because I don’t want to want it later and get scalped.

I usually just auction off what I don’t wear, starting at retail. Any extra dollars goes back into my burando pot.

There really aren't THAT many legit scalpers to account for the speed of the sellouts. After every release there's 2-3 profiles on mercari/fril/fish/LM selling stuff, but it's actually not a whole lot of people or a whole lot of items given ho quickly hyped releases go.

I've kind of accepted now that AP is going to continue to stray further from what I (and many others) want. I think it's kinda dead for me in that way. They keep trying to bring back their "magic," but it's just missing.

Specifically for the plush bags - the quality has just plummeted. I don't think they can produce well-made plush bags anymore. The new fur they use is that cheap, shiny, flimsy, dollar-store kind, and the construction is a lot worse. I don't want to see what a "rerelease" pony bag would look like. The old ones would still be worth $300-500.

I wish AP was more about quality and less about how fast they can release things. Like other anons have said, I'd happily take half as many releases, or even 25% as many, if it meant that we got thoughtful, unique collections.

I also wanted to add to my post that I think it's get likely secondhand prices will continue to rise for AP. Others said the sweet boom will end, but I'm not convinced in general. I'm not sure prices will go back down to buying Milky Planet for $80 and jewelry for $5-10. As the disillusionment with AP continues, I can see prices getting completely out of control, like old collectibles. Of course AP can target certian things and rerelease them, but I don't think it'll ever be enough.

Granted, maybe in x-years when lolita dies and there's only a handful of people selling, things will be different. But in the short term, I'm not feeling great about the next 5-7 years. I would love to be wrong though.

It really is, because I’m sure (most of us anyway) are more than willing to spend for quality.

I have entire lists of things I can pray they rerelease - but second hand market is only way for lots of them. Age will soon leave nothing left
>except for the poly of course

I used to be such a dumbass when it came to fabrics - in that I much preferred the chiffon releases. Now I would kill someone for some old cotton border prints to be rereleased

imo, the depressing thing is not that "they won't", but rather, they seem to run their litmus test of whether the market likes it or not with random releases, and then if it flops they just don't bother doing it again.

Like low-waist dresses seem to have gone the way of the dodo after both Mercator and the cat print didn't fully sell out. High waists are here to stay because people keep buying them.

Last "version" of MRC they did was the whip cream one with weird trim in odd places and I don't think it sold as well as the previous royal chocolate series, so it seems like they think we're tired of jacquard dessert prints? In fact it was just a bit of an ugly design rather than the fabric.

Twinkle Sky was a glitter print, and so was Magic Princess. They may have phased glitter prints out because both were flops rather than the rotary cutter thing.

It's kinda odd, but I think they're sticking to pumping out plainer dresses because girls are buying them up, or something.

This is something I really wonder about. I have no idea how AP will look in 5 years and I'm scared for it. I have a hard time imagining that they'll actually get better and not worse. I feel like I'll be here, watching an auction for Toy Parade go to 7k.

I almost hope that AP crashes and burns and is forced to release MTOs to rake in money. That's a huge fail-safe for them. That's the only reason I'm confident that the original Milky Planet will be rereleased before I die. Just look at CTP - never in a million years did anyone think AP would rerelease that print. And then Toy Fantasy (which wasn't even super popular or expensive secondhand). It's like AP was testing the waters for the triple MTO they announced this year (SC, Nakayoshi Bunny, Candy Fairy). As AP gets older, the probability of rereleases goes up. Even old movie studios remaster their films and charge people for it.

I think it has to do with the cost and structure. Milky Bear bags have declined drastically in quality. The original bears have thicker fur, a larger size, and have a little mouth sewn in. They are also sturdier, but bear bags will always be able to get away with being floppier. Pony bags have to be very precise and structured, making them substantially more difficult and expensive to produce.

Ultimately, I think the rise of a Chinese middle class and labor standards are the problem. It costs more to produce in China than ever before, to the point that US manufacturing is actually not that much more expensive for higher-end goods. But since AP clearly has a lot of relationships and capital tied up in China, they are limited by that when producing new items, or when selecting old items to revive.

Okay. I think I'm done buying AP's new plush.

I knew I shouldn't have bought these from the release in Japan, but I wanted to have faith. Left is the lyrical bunny pouch. The ribbon came frayed straight out of the package. I could deal with it if it was on the end or something because I could seal it with a flame, but in the middle like this? It's pretty upsetting. I'm going to put fabric glue on top of it, because it's already becoming a hole.
The right is the goodnight bunny bag. The mouth embroidery is messed up yet again (my lyrical MTO pouch also had an uneven mouth).
In general, both bags are just cheap. They remind me of $15 throw-away Valentine's bears in the drug store aisle. I have a bunch of other AP plush bags, and I much rather pay $300 or whatever secondhand for something good than deal with this again. Every single new purchase there's been something wrong with AP. Literally everyone does that though. Use an iPhone? Chinese sweatshop. Use an Android? Chinese sweatshop. The computer you're typing on. Chinese sweatshop.

The next step is everyone to move their manufacturing to Africa, the new wild west for sweat shops.

>> No.10559166

Well obviously, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it. We have no choice but to use items made in sweatshops in many areas of life.
But also it feels like the term sweatshops is overused to pretty much mean any factory these days. Just because someone only makes $20/day doesn’t mean they’re underpaid, oftentimes that’s just a currency conversion thing and $20/day there is equivalent to like $120 in the US when it comes to actual buying power. Still not a fantastic wage but definitely livable. Not everything can be hand made by artisans making $60/hr

Tyler, I know you're reading this, you're going to want to pull the petticoat down lower on your waist so that the edge of the poly skirts are actually supported by the petticoat and not hanging over it, drooping.
