1840s dresses look like Florence Lace OP from sheglit, or vice versa. Most Lolita, particularly classic and gothic, seem to have a mashup of different elements from different decades, like 1830s bonnets, 1870s bustle seams, etc (I'm not an expert, all I know from Victorian fashion is youtubers)

Excuse me... The 1830s would like to have a word with this "lolita fashion".
Really I think think this era influenced Lolita somehow. It's literally the era where a "doll like" or "child like" appearance to the dresses drove the fashion scene. You literally needed hoops for your sleeves sometimes.

Exactly why I got into lolita. I used to wear historical costume as part of my daily wear and after an especially unbearable summer I was looking for a way to wear historical styles more casually.
People say lolita is super uncomfortable but for me it's always been the more comfortable alternative to the corset and all the layers. In the period I was focused on, I had to put on like five layers before I could even start to put my actual outfit on.
It's really nice to just put on a cute op, slap the matching bow on my head, and just GO without having to pad my hair out with foam hotdogs.

There is often moiré silk on those costume ( like on the third hat ) but it doesn't show on pictures. It was also pretty common on late 1800 gowns and would be super cute in classic and goth lolita

There could be if people were more interested in discussion inbetween photodumping. The most common inspiration for lolita is that it's derived from "victorian and rococo fashion". i think a topic on the historical influences of lolita fashion is a great topic

and if you need more evidence, the prairie dress trend from the 70s directly led to natural kei and inspired brands like pink house

>> No.10541181

c'mon anon, lolita takes plenty of inspiration from rococco and victorian era. Saying this has nothing to do with lolita is like saying old school has nothing to do with current styles ergo old school should not be discused. Or hell, even those protololita threads there were some months ago, they were great. I've been getting more and more interested in historic fashion and it only made my love for lolita even bigger.
