Yeah, I feel you on that. A lot of the images I have saved from back in those days I can admit aren't necessarily great coords but they still have value to me as ideas of item or color combinations, though, which is something I was thinking of while I was looking through and dumping.

I feel it's because Bodyline has a negative stigma, so people turn to Taobao thinking it'll make them better than Bodyline lolitas. It doesn't matter either way if you don't know how to coord and actively cut corners. If you know how to look good you'll look good.

Taobao is more often to my taste and I think the quality can be good enough-often enough depending where you buy that I'd prefer it.

Bodyline's nicest pieces were sturdy and great quality but very basic and not really my taste anymore.

I think I mentioned this on a different thread but when I was first starting out I was only buying old BABY dresses which still were in really good condition. I then found out how to use taobao and I saw a $25 ish Alice Girl dress and was soooo excited so I ordered it expecting it to be great. Well when it arrived I was mortified at the quality and now I laugh at how stupid I was thinking it was going to be good.

this, and bodyline used to be the absolute best place to score a deal due to sales and easily exploitable free shipping. when I first started I got tons of basics, including shoes, for around $10 a pop and never paid shipping costs. it was a great way to dip my toes into the fashion without breaking the bank when I was still making minimum wage. taobao is probably a a better value per piece nowadays when you factor in quality and shipping costs.

Personally Taobao simply due to the selection and styles. You can definitely only choose to purchase from decent brands like Yolanda and Magic Tea Party. There's no one who says you have to choose shit just because you're picking a Taobao brand. The prints and cuts in Taobao can be super cute.

theres so many bodyline knockoffs (factory pieces?) on taobao tho, youd think they try to sell to the taobao and chinese crowd, especially since they opened a store there.

I own three pieces from them, they're as not horrific as some make it seem. Their construction is good/okay, the materials are on the cheap side, on par with some Bodyline. I've worn and washed them many times, and they hold up. If you're on the fence about getting something from them, just pick something easy to coord with. In terms of quality, compared to other Taobao brands, they're like mid to lower tier. Their quality doesn't really justify their pricing.

I think it might also be if you are lucky or not. I bought a dress and it was constructed so badly that I don’t even want to wear it. It is also so bad that I cannot even sell it. I would never buy anything from them again personally, but there are others like >>10542423 that had a positive experience. I would personally say their quality is lower than bodyline’s, while their prices are much higher. But maybe it also depends on the piece. (I mostly own old Bodyline though.)

My personal experience with them is blurry prints, cheap, shiny fabric and being sent items in the wrong size.

But that was around the time they first came onto the scene, so it's possible they've improved... I won't give them a second chance, though, from the other reviews and products I've seen.

Doesn't look like it. That sucks, it's one of their few good items. I use mine as an underskirt for bustled dresses. It's known as L325, pic related.

I’m a sucker for the plain bodyline dresses, there’s one I have my eye on. They just have such a nostalgia factor for me, and I like being able to make simpler coords.

I feel odd liking this Bodyline OP, it's not my style but I think is cute. Maybe replacing that itchy gold lace will look way more better.

Body line gets a bad rap because the only stuff that’s in stock is the ugly stuff, so newbies go there and just buy the ugly stuff and then make terrible coords. If you already know how to coord and you buy stuff when it’s been restocked, you could be a really cute lolita with nothing but bodyline. I’m actually a sucker for their sweet Peter Pan collar blouses And wear them almost exclusively with my angelic pretty dresses. Only problem is the neck holes are weirdly big
