I may have made a mistake now but
I really want a Bunny Parka as exists in TWEWY.
I put together some reference pictures, there's very little to go off.
But I made a mistake, at first I just went off what I found in google, and didn't find much, but I didn't realize Google didn't search Deviantart so I found a bunch of fanart and some cosplays there. So if I look at the fanart I may have more to go off than I first thought.

Anyway, my big question was if "parka" was a mistranslation. Because when I look up what parka means, it seems it means some sort of jacket, which doesn't seem to fit the sprite picture or any of the fan interpretations, and it doesn't seem to fit the idea that it should show skin at the shoulders either, as the ingame description states.
And I really would like it as a hoodie too.
So maybe I should go with that.

I also think there is some text there. I liked the fanart interpretation that it is a diamond and the letters "Lapin". The bunny it's based on is named "m'sieur lapin" after all, and the brand is also named after it.

And the zigzaggy part at the bottom, I think I may prefer if it's actually zigzaggy and not squares, as the manga implies.

But maybe I shouldn't have asked here. My question doesn't seem that important, and maybe I just should have made what I wanted. If anyone has any good thoughts about the details I'd still like to hear them though.
Another thing, however was than I thought maybe the pattern on the top maybe would be the face of the bunny Lapin, which is why I included pictures of the plushie.
Also, many of the drawings include pockets, but I don't think they may be there, but when you look closely, there seems to be a darker line that could represent pockets I guess.
Probably won't do that though because it's very unclear.

I hear you, but the terminology isn't going to change your fabric or pattern choices. I was telling you not to dwell too hard on it because the overall product is more important. You asked the question in the right place, just try not to get too in your head about it. Calling it a parka or a hoodie isn't going to change the outcome of your project. Also, you're the person in charge. You can make whatever design changes you so desire. It looks like there's lots of room for interpretation judging from the source image anyway.

What do you gulls use for your cosplay name? If it’s something other than your real name, how did you come up with it?

Years ago I made accounts on social media sites and I just used my actual first and last name because I wasn’t into cosplay yet and they were just for posting personal photos. As I started getting into cosplay I just kept posting to my personal account. Now all I post there is cosplay so it’s essentially a cosplay account, but it’s still labeled with my full name. I never really cared about people knowing my name before because it’s so easy to find someone’s real name on the internet anyway. But next semester I’ll be graduating college and I’ll have to look for a full time job and I’m worried because I’ve heard about some employers checking out job candidates on social media. I’m not in a super serious career field like business, but I’m still a little concerned that I should maybe change it.

A more minor concern is that I’ve gained a decent following now and I’ve seen some other accounts change their handle and they’ve had followers complain about their name change. So I guess if anyone has experience with rebranding I’d love to hear those about that too

If you’re going to into a creative field, I wouldn’t worry about it since most people in creative fields are weird as shit in some way or another.
If you don’t want to use your full name at all, you can use a variation of your name like your first name + middle name or a nickname.
And regarding rebranding, I know someone who rebranded at around 12k and was able to get away with it.

Are Sailor Scout uniforms difficult to make? I've never worked with stretchy fabrics out of fear. I'm not brand new to sewing, but I'd say I'm halfway between Beginner and Intermediate. I think I have more knowledge than actual experience right now, so I would like a second opinion as to whether a scout uniform would be a project within my skill range or beyond it. Alternatively I was thinking about buying a premade one and altering it, but other than the hip and sleeve rolls (which I was purposely trying to avoid working on) and the brooch would be the only necessary alterations. I'd love a second opinion, though.

I didn't want strangers calling me by my full name so I used an shortening/abbreviation of my real name as well as a cosplay handle. That seems to be a common thing among cosplayers as well. I've also seen people swap out the name abbreviation with a simple word like "Peach" or "Bee". It's kind of cute imo. I think either AlanaOwlet or MangoSirene has a video on creating your online handle.

anyone anyone have recommendations for what to buy for Diego Brando's equestrian helmet, and/or how to make it? Actual equestrian helmets are a lot larger, and sit a lot higher than his design; It seems that a reasonably accurate prop would probably be entirely fabric aside from the letters.

I'm also interested in recommendations for the rest of the outfit (and a wig). I had planned on getting an actual sweater, jodhpurs, boots and gloves; I want the outfit to look reasonably high quality. I've seen a couple ready-made cosplay outfits available to buy, and they looked really cheap. I'm willing to compromise perfect accuracy among these elements in order to ensure the outfit as a whole looks higher quality.

Does anyone have tips for tying back a nice, clean ponytail on a wig? I know clip-ons are the norm but this is for a character with a tiny ponytail (and the wig has enough mass in the back to make it work).

Every time i double over my ponytail band though, some bits of hair won't go in or will get super messy, not sure what to do.

Do it section by section with those thin elastics from the center working outward so that the last, outer layers cover everything nicely. Use hairspray when combing it together so it all stays in place. Instead of doubling the elastic if thats the only issue you might want to cut the elastic and have someone hold it while you tie it tight instead

This question has been asked a few times by other cosplayers and it seems like the general consensus is that a real helmet would be too heavy so EVA foam would likely be your best bet. You can use either fabric or paint to cover it depending on your preference.

As for the other recommendations you requested, it sounds like you need to make those determinations yourself. What one of us might see as high quality might not be good enough for you. If you'd like some sites to look through, then we could probably provide those. Above all if you want absolute control over the quality, then it'd be best to either make it yourself or commission someone who will only use the materials you select.

I agree with the other anon, but would also like to add that the biggest indicator of success for a wig is the direction of that the wefts are sewn in. Using Arda's Chibi for example, the wefts at the nape of the neck are sewn in "upside down" so that the hair will want to lay upward instead of downward. You can easily seam rip and resew wefts so if you already have a wig that isn't a problem. Arda has some tutorial videos regarding their chibi on youtube if you need more help. Also Kinpatsu cosplay does a lot of wig styling tutorials as well.

References for measuring should be based on official art of the dress and scaling it in proportion to the wearer, like where the waist sits, how long the bodice needs to be, where the skirt hem hits (above knee?), Etc. You're not going to get that from other people wearing a cosplay. If you can't measure her directly, then ask to borrow a well-fitting dress that resembles what you want to make and measure that instead.

Anyone got any tips or links to tutorials for making a kda akali (all out) wig? Get some more references of the back of her head. If the navy lays on top of a blonde spike then 1-2 packs should be fine. If the navy encompasses one whole spike then you will need more. 3-4 or a whole ponytail add-on if I had to guess.

As for styling, you'll need a few types of tutorials: one for spiking, one for large ponytails, one for the unusual hairline (I can't tell if its shaven or just slick against her head). Kinpatsu has done a couple of KDA tutorials but none for this specific style. I'd recommend watching them anyway and seeing what you can benefit from it. Otherwise just do a youtube search for the other tutorials you need and you should be fine.

My setup is that I have a social media handle (instagram/twitter/discord/etc) but it's not based on a nickname and anyone who knows me just calls me by my real name. Because I was raised in the "never tell ANYONE online your full name or where you live" era I'm still loath to put even my first name on profiles, even though I'm pushing 30. I suppose there's also a desire for "separation" to not get too personal, 4channing has given me an appreciation for a certain level of online anonymity.
Mostly through intertia I still have a goofy username that I started using in... middle school? but it's not embarrassing so I keep going by it. However I have seen several people I follow change their handle - because modern platforms like Twitter or Instagram allow you to change usernames without losing content or followers that's becoming more acceptable nowadays.
Looking through IG briefly I do see several people doing handles like [name]cosplay, using initials, (abbreviated) first name, or even their full name.

For what it's worth, people who know about my cosplaying (friends, family, coworkers) all think it's cool. If you're posting boudoir/OF stuff on main maybe not, but "regular" cosplay is more widely accepted than you may presume.

Does anyone know what websites are good to buy cosplay? Or where to find a good list?

thinking about making sucrose from genshin impact. i have a few ideas for the smaller details like the stripes and designs on the cape/jacket but im not sure if theyre the best way to go about it.
for most of the designs i could make appliques out of fabric and iron them on with heatnbond, but im afraid of the edges fraying. i could do a satin stitch to prevent this but it looks kind of bulky?
for the stripes im not sure if it would be better to use ribbon or bias tape. i want to avoid having to paint anything onto the fabric, but if thats the best option then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Either is fine. Ribbon tends to be shiny though so if that's not what you're looking for, try to find bias tape in the right shade. Or you can make it yourself if you want to make sure the color matches your fabric. DO NOT paint though. That's (almost) never a good option.

You should do a satin stitch if the fabric you use for the applique/trim frays at raw edges. Otherwise it looks so bad when a corner starts peeling inevitably. To reduce bulk, I don't recommend using actual heat n' bond because it is pretty thick and bulky. You're better off using a lighter fusible interfacing or even a temporary wash-away type. If you're able to use a fabric that does not fray for the trims, then you can get away with a basic straight stitch along the edges to secure it instead of satin stitching.
Since this is a fantasy costume, it shouldn't be out of place to have a variety of textiles or some shininess. You can use ribbon as long as it doesn't warp after sewing. I would personally make bias tape out of matte satin.

How would I go about making the "spikes" on the back of Space Dandy's hair? I get that it's just a stylized portrayal of "ducktail" loose ends but is there a tactic to get it in that angular style? Like, maybe with something to add structure.

If it's a simpler top + skirt bottom, I can see $200 working if the person sewing it is able to start with a commercially available fabric for the plaid pattern. If you need it custom printed, I would factor in ~$20/yard (or more for nicer base fabrics) especially if you want the commissioner to draw and make the pattern themselves.

Does anyone have tips or a tutorial on how to combine a zipper with corset boning? I want to make a waist cincher with a zipper either in the front, side or back seam but I don't want to forego boning in any of these seams. Googling just gives me a bunch of stuff about zip ties, but I also found pic related (without source) so I know it's possible.

The way you see it there is going to be the best, because that is replacing the busk. Obviously it wont be as strong as a busk, but just use that pic as reference. You can see that there is boning on either side of the zipper for strength, and the zipper is inserted next to it.

How tf do I keep super glue in tubes like pic related from drying out? I only use it maybe once a month or every few months and no matter how hard I close the screw-on top I always end up having to throw the tube out when it's still 2/3rds or more full because it always dries out so much I can't get the rest out of the tube. Do the bigger tubes (the ones you store upright and that look almost like bottles) dry out less? Am I just fucked and will have to keep spending 3 dollars to buy a completely new tube every time I need to use any?

Is there any shops that have wine red circle lenses? I've checked Honeycolor and Pinkyparadise and all they seem to have is bright red.

I usually get Loctite gel super glue where you squeeze the rubber grips to get the glue out and it has some sort of suction built-in where it keeps all the glue in when not squeezed. Capped tightly, the tiny bottle has lasted 2 years just fine.

Anyone know any good plastic popsicles or lolipops? I want to do an angel dust cosplay and I want something hard and phallic to shove into my mouth the entire time that won't dissolve. I don't want to use an actual dildo because I will get kicked out of any convention if I do. Also the blacker the plastic the better.

Personally, I'd suggest investing in a molding set and using some kind of hard-ish silicon. Making a popsicle with that wouldn't be too hard, you'd just need to float a stick in the mold so it hardens properly.

This is correct. Corset boning will conform to your body over time, because it is being pushed into that position from the pressure of the garment. Not by heat bending. True corsets are patterned to compress the body in a specific shape (ex. Victorian corsets will give you a different silhouette than Edwardian) and the boning gives it the rigid structure to maintain it.

I'm doing some research in preparation for my Sailor Jupiter costume and I've hit a snag at the boots. I was anticipating to spend around $30-40 on the boots, but they're unexpectedly expensive (and honestly the ones I'm finding even above my price range don't appear to be good quality). I didn't want to DIY them myself, but it looks like that's my only option. What would be better: boot covers or painting the shoes?

If I paint the shoes, I'll have to deal with cracking, cost of paint/sealant, no possibility for returns, and having a single use shoe. For this reason a boot cover sounds better, but I've only seen them made with stretchy material and I don't know how good that will look with the style of Jupiter's shoe. Also will I have to add eyelets for the laces? And if I have to use stretch fabric, won't it just make the holes gape? I'm happy to hear thoughts for or against either option, I'm stuck.

I've actually done a Diego cosplay using a real riding helmet and I didn't feel it was too big or heavy at all. I bought a really cheap one made mainly out of plastic from aliexpress (I still have the link actually, if you want it) and then found a pattern for a riding helmet cover which allowed me to match my helmet and shirt fabric which looked really great. For the rest of the cosplay, I made the pants by slightly altering some simplicity 8114 shorts, and used a generic turtleneck pattern for the shirt. This might also be a strange piece of advice but invest in some real metal spurs. The sound of the jingle jangle while you walk down the street is priceless.

I'm guessing that you're asking because the reference image seems to have a bit of a square shape going on. I would encourage you to check out some more references images, especially of the back before making that decision. It honestly just looks like the folds are exaggerated and the wind is blowing it back behind her hair so it doesn't stick to her head as much as a regular habit would. If it still looks square then I have some ideas.

For sure! All things considered, the pattern for the helmet is pretty easy as far as sewing goes and even if you need to give it a few tries it'll probably still save you the headache of crafting your own helmet from EVA. Plus, I can tell you my helmet is totally indestructible just in case you ever need to pack it for a far away con. But anyways! I think the shipping has been bumped up on this a lot since I bought it so I'd dig around a little bit to find a better priced one.
This may be obvious but make sure you're using a 4 way stretch for the helmet cover or you will want to die.
Also, for his shirt stripes, I painted them on using frog tape and jacquard lumiere so I could match the gold to the letters on my helmet. Went thru the wash pretty well but cracked a little bit since I used it on stretch lycra. Not sure this is a reccomendation but I figured I'd let you know how I tackled that since I'm aware it's a real pain!

You can get a controlled cut if you have steady hands but generally a dremel is better for smaller cuts (that is, smaller than the cutting "blade" or wheel). I don't know what scale you're working at; if it's a small piece maybe the cutting wheel and sanding drum could work but if it's more than a couple inches use a different tool.

I’m planning on bringing a musical instrument to the next con I go to. What music do you think people want to hear in the hall of an anime con? Using magnets for that is just asking for the blade to go flying when you swing it. I think screwing it together is the better idea, but I’d do it in three pieces, not two. You could have the handle and the cross guard be two separate parts. The blade would have a threaded hole, the cross guard would have a non-threaded hole, and the handle would have the bolt. That might make it take up less space when disassembled. More importantly, a modular approach would make it easier to repair individual parts if they break.

I'd really recommend using EVA foam instead of wood for something you plan to carry around and swing at someone (especially for a choreographed skit). Even real sword/staff martial artists will regularly spar with foam weapons.
With a rigid core (PVC pipe, wooden dowel, golf club handle, etc) it'll still be firm but the end product will be much lighter, harder to break (and less ruinous if it does), and less able to injure someone. You can still get a metallic finish and firm, smooth outer surface.

Odin Makes on YT has some good bulky-sword builds (Buster Sword, Blades of Chaos, Curse Crusher, Soul Edge) you could watch for reference.

You can find tutorials on youtube on how to mold pvc board for the pauldrons, glove sections, breast plate, and belt. Each pauldron seems, in it's most basic forms, jointed semi cylinders. Look into how dress bodices are constructed to help you break the shape of the breastplate down. I wouldn't suggest swinging anything to the body suit that may make it difficult to get it and out of.

I will say it's not really intended as a breastplate and more as just cloth, same for most of the rest. I'll definitely take the advice on for the pauldrons though, I'm already considering just making them. Also never indented to sew anything to the suit itself. I am cosplaying Kagura from Inuyasha and I can’t decide what’s the best way to get the red stripes added to a white kimono. Since it’s such a large area, is this one time you guy’s would recommend fabric paint? I’ve thought about cutting out red fabric and satin stitching, but how would that translate in real life without it looking like a patchwork dress? I’ve even considered heat bonded vinyl. The larger the area, the WORSE idea it would be to paint the fabric. It would be very hard to get the paint to spread cleanly and consistently and not be a crunchy mess once it dries. Same for vinyl, it would be hard to ensure the fabric is completely flat and not warped under such a large area. Your better bets are to patchwork it from white and red fabrics (it will be much cleaner and hang better if you cut on the right grain/bias, I promise you), or if you insist on a single cut of fabric, custom print it from a professional site like Spoonflower.
Really, if you think about "historical accuracy", that garment would most likely be the result of patchwork.

If it's just a single fingerprint you could use real blood. Just pierce the tip of the finger with a clean sewing needle to get a single blood drop. It should heal in a matter of seconds.

If you really wanted to draw blood that way, I’d suggest picking up one of those lancing devices that people use for glucose checks rather than just using a needle. It’s a bit easier for drawing blood as it doesn’t require you to do the poking action yourself. You may need to do multiple pokes to get the amount of blood that you need, because as mentioned before, the wound heals up in seconds. Any recommendations on how to keep a mascot head cool? I'm going to Animazement and I'd rather not die of heat exhaustion in North Carolina weather. If you want an old blood look mix in a bit of reddish- brown paint. When blood oxidizes it tends to look rusty. In terms of medium, if the modeling paint still isn’t quite there then try watering it down just a smidge to get it to take that whirl pattern. Experiment to get that right consistency

Thin paper or like parchment paper from baking could work. It's just that you need to remove the backing stabilizer after sewing and stuff not designed for the task may be harder to remove than you think or you might damage the fabric/stitches during removal. Wash-away is definitely recommended for delicate fabrics. Do you not live near a JoAnn or something?

1) When I first attempted to cosplay Tsuyu, I made her hair bow out of Styrofoam and then glued felt then wefts over it. I made it last minute and forgot to think about how to attach it to my wig so I hot glued one of those claw hair clip things to it. It wasn't sturdy and got knocked to the ground and promptly broke 10 steps into the dealer's hall, so I want to make sure I make it better this time around. My questions are:
What type of foam would be better to use on the inside? and what's the best way to attach onto my wig?

2) This time around I'm planning on doing her Hero costume, so now I have the goggles to deal with. I've been doing some research and noticed that Kinpatsu has a pattern out for it. Does anyone have any experience with using her pattern for this specific item? I happened to find a youtube video of someone using it (pic related), but I didn't like the results. It could be user error, but I'm still unsure if I like the pattern. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, my budget for these is about $30-40. Would it be cheaper/better to buy a 3D print to sand and paint or to make the goggles from foam (and then sand and paint)?

The type of foam you use won't help the bow become sturdier since it's just foam's nature to get crushed when stepped on. You can try using foam meant for insulation since it's slightly sturdier than styrofoam but don't count on it not breaking if it gets stepped on.
Your main problem here is how you attached it. Claw clips aren't a sturdy attachment. I'm not too experienced with attaching large pieces to the bottom of a wig but you could try hiding something that the claw clip can grip onto and stay rooted on like a foam block with holes for the prongs to go into? Idk the solution but the problem is that the clip slips out easily and magnets don't work because the bow will spin around.

I've found some 3d printed kits within your price range (not including paints, etc.) just by googling "tsuyu asui 3d printed goggles". If you prefer the look of 3d printed pieces, I'd say go for a kit.

Interesting! I think I could hide that in the hair. Not sure how I'd get it to stay in the hair without like being a bastard and hot gluing it to the wefts, but I'll think some more about it. I forget the name of the product, but there's this wide strip of body safe adhesive tape that's primary use is lifting breasts (ie replacing the need for bras in dresses that are visible). I saw someone use it to open chest bind (ie move the breasts away from the chest to appear like a man's flat chest), but I can't find the tutorial. If you don't have a local community, you've got a couple options.
Make one. I don't know how big you need, but I just made one to hold sheets 12 inch by 24 inch. I paid exactly zero money for it since I had some lumber and angle aluminum laying around along with the tools to put it together. Just follow an online tutorial and scale it up to whatever size you need.
The only other thing is to use a heat gun and try to form around the pieces like that. It's tedious, you can burn yourself, it won't be as smooth or capture as much detail, but it can get the job done if you're willing and patient.
This is going to maybe seem rude, but why did you make pieces to be vacuum formed when you didn't have a way to vacuum form them?

I'm trying to make a unicorn horn inspired by The Last Unicorn for my LARP gear. I'd like it to adhere to my forehead directly instead of using a headband or similar construction by having the star-shaped blaze (made out of latex) attached to the horn and then adhering the blaze to the skin with spirit gum. What material can I make the horn out of that'd be light enough to be able to be attached like that?

hey everyone! I'm trying to put together a decent Holo cosplay as a surprise for my partner, and I need some help.
What should I be looking for in a wig?
If i have long hair would it be better to just dye it to suit the character instead?
How can i tell which wigs and ears are good quality just from pictures since I have to buy everything online?
If the colours dont quite match are there ways to subtly change them to match each other better?

No, usually dying your hair is not a good idea, unless it looks exactly like the character's hair. Wigs will look better 95% of the time.

The only way to know a wig's quality is to know the seller or ask someone that has purchased from them. Otherwise, it's a gamble.

You can try to get a holo wig (ears included) from aliexpress. The quality is a gamble, but they are usually cheap enough that you can afford to take the risk, and sometimes they are quite nice.

Option two would be getting a generic wig with the desired style and color from a reputable site like EpicCosplay.com that will guarantee a good quality wig, at a higher price. Another problem with this method is that their wigs come unstyled with excess hair to allow you to style them however you want. Which is nice, if that's what you want, but also requires you to cut them yourself and fuckups can happen. Plus lack of ears. You would have to make them yourself with the extra hair.

It is possible to dye wigs, but no recommended, unless you really need to. Try to get one that matches the color from the get-go and only dye if you cannot find one.

No idea about the tail.

I think the Alice Garden Aiden wig could work for Holo. It's a bit shorter than Holo's hair but it'll be longer after straightening. I can vouch for Alice Garden's quality, I own literally a full dozen of their wigs and they're amazing for their quality. I'd recommend buying it directly off their taobao store but if you aren't willing to go through an SS you can probably find it elsewhere for a markup.

Product reviews. Using Arda as an example, if you google "arda [wig name] [color name]", you'll get tons of pictures of people using that wig and can determine its quality. In general from any wig you want: fullness (plenty of wefts so that there are no "bald spots"/visible weft tracks when styling or moving) and no unnatural shine (this is common in cheap halloween party store wigs). There are tons of reputable websites, just do a little research. Paying an arm and a leg won't ensure you get good quality but neither will paying pennies so just be sure to look at the reviews.

Animal ears are really popular on instagram right now, so just get them commissioned. It's probably cheaper than trying to find good cheap ears online anyway.

To be honest with you, it looks like the good photography is hiding the faults with this. Stockings aren't made to be very thick. You can even see in the photo that there are bare spots that break the illusion. Since they're thin, they're going to have a hard time covering the space between the shoe and the foot. It'll be obvious that a thin fabric is covering an ankle heel in other words. Use it in a pinch, but I woudn't recommend it if you want something that will last and look realistic.

Oh and that hole is going to breed some serious runs in those tights. Breathe on it and it'll start running.

No. You'll want a foundation lighter than your skin tone and matching powder. I'd suggest looking up some goth makeup tutorials (I think the specific style is traditional goth which is known for that vampiric pale skin and bold face-covering eyeliner look, but I'm no expert on the topic). Concealer is only to be used on small areas to cover up imperfections. For moles you'll want high coverage concealer (like tattoo covering level) and/or to color correct it before applying concealer and foundation.

If you've never touched makeup in your life, watch tutorials, read product reviews, and ask the makeup thread for their advice on which products to use or which tutorials to follow. It wouldn't hurt to find a community you trust online to show your face and ask for tips on how to improve. Everything requires practice. It's highly unlikely you'll be perfect at something on the first try. You could probably get passable results on the first try though, its not THAT hard to use.

The dress is made of polyester so I think I need to use the stovetop method to get a rich color (already have the right kind of poly dye). If it's plastic it will be ruined for sure since the dye works on pretty much anything plastic-based. Just get one that you can repurpose to either dye other fabric later or use for storing stuff that you don't care about getting residual dye on.

I would forewarn you that the synthetic dye will work best with near-boiling water (especially if you're looking for a vibrant, intense result) and it will be hard to maintain the temperature in a large container even if you start with pouring in boiling water. It will cool off to 60-70C pretty quickly.

Dye is toxic or not good for you at the very least (the packaging will always say to wear gloves and have proper ventilation) and a bathtub would be a huge surface area to thoroughly clean up afterwards, plus it'll likely permanently stain the caulk and the shower curtains and anything else without splash range.

The hot air travels about half a meter before it dissolves. Don't worry, it's not dangerous. You would need to heat up your hand for a couple seconds in a row to burn yourself. Otherwise it just heats the air in the room. If you use it for a long time the room can get very hot.

The gun has two parts, the plastic part and the metal part. Don't ever touch the metal while it's hot or let it touch any burnable surface. Just let it let it rest on the plastic part until it cools down. If you can't do that you can leave it on a glass plate. It's not hot enough to melt glass.

I’m making a sleeve cuff that has trim coming out of the ends. I got the idea to split the fabric piece in half and sewing the trim in the middle to make sure that it’s sitting correctly when folded in half, but the trim got trapped in the seam. How can I sew the seam while leaving the trim free?

if your sleeve is even all the way around you should just be able to fold the fabric right sides together and stitch straight down. I would start at the trim so you know it's matched up and sew from there.... or hand stitch that part of the seam with a ladder stitch so you have more control.

Looks like you'll have to seam rip and redo it. That said, it looks like the seam is also curved, so either the lace needs to stretch to lie flat or you'll have to gather the lace before sewing so that the outer edge of the lace will have enough length to expand and lie flat.

It's supposed to be a straight seam, but the caught trim is warping the seam. You can see the unsewn example I placed below it for reference. It's just two long fabric rectangles sewn with trim in the middle. I put right sides together, sewed down the side, flipped it inside out and placed it right sides to the gathered sleeve then tried flipping it right sides out (and in half to tuck the raw edge on the inside), but this happened. I'm still not quite sure what went wrong, but I'll take your suggestions. The lace I have isn't stretchy but it is gathered so hopefully that'll work.

Ah, welcome to the horrid world of women's fashion. Even amongst huge brands, there is no standard sizing. Each store sets it which is why it's such a bitch to find good fitting clothing. Commercial patterns do have sizes with specific measurements. It's common for women to have to split top/bottom sizes to fit their own bodies though so if you're thinking about sewing for someone in specific or commission, its easier just to ask for their measurements.

Again, if I'm making it with someone in mind then I would just ask. If not, then it's best to list the sizes you made the garment in so the buyer can determine that for themselves if they will fit.

What would you call the skirt or dress that Madoka wears? Is it a petticoat skirt and then you put a skirt on top of it? What is the terminology you would use to describe it? Sorry I'm a dumb boy.

I've heard it go by many names. Bubble skirt is the one that prominent comes to mind. Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew has one as well. Looking up tutorials for either character would help you. Yes, it's a huge ass tiered petticoat that is covered by a huge ass gathered "skirt"

Hm, this isn't my area of expertise but to throw my ideas in:
Maybe make the arm two moving pieces at the elbow joint (like a ball and socket joint) so your arm isn't permastuck in one position. You'll likely need a sturdy inner structure and very lightweight outer structure. Something like pvc pipe, eva foam or chicken wire + expanding foam. I hear which primer you use can add weight to it too, so I'd say do your research and be mindful. If I were you, I'd do some arm workouts in prep for the wear date too lol.

What's the easiest way to cut a hole in spandex and have it not rip any further? This is coming from someone who can't sew worth crud. Can I just use nail polish?

No, nail polish is solely for mesh tights. Spandex is an different material. Putting in a lining or interfacing and hemming the seam is probably the best idea.
