Thanks Anons. Picture above was just a super quick try. I like to keep the option of reselling it, so I won't do big alterations. I found some suspenders helpful for wearing it as a skirt. I'll make the bow on the chest detachable for better layering (i. e. casual sweater above).
What really kind of annoys me are the straps. They are not detachable because the buttons are too big for the clasps. Because it's a funktional issue, I'll fix that too and will keep the original buttons.
Btw the other dress was fruity lemon in mint, which cut is quite flattering for my taste.

Already been discussed. Only the OP is super big and as anons mentioned it's a less comfortable fit than the JSK so that should deter people from trying to squeeze too hard into it. It's nowhere near honey cake level. The size difference between 130+cm like HC and 102 cm on the SC OP (which still has limits for fatties because of shoulders and sleeves) is huge. So there will be chubby chans wearing it but it's not sized for full on hamplanets. If you're Risa's sized you're fucked sizing wise most people will look fine in the JSK and probably fine to a little baggy without adjusting corset lacing in the OP.

lolita was because I'm very petite and the lengths+ typical measurements usually fit me very well compared to western clothes (of course, my main draw was the style itself, but this was a huge plus). Tbh I’m sad it’s gonna be saturated at all. I’m the original owner of two JSKs that I’ve kept in perfect condition over the years.

I know it’s petty, but it is pretty annoying that any old newb can put in an mto and get this piece, then coord it horribly and post everywhere. Like honey cake, it used to be such a specific investment to find and purchase it, that it was pretty rare to see itas wearing a genuine one, and now everybody and their mother are going to have one. I guess sugary carnival and honey cake were both indicators for me as someone who really loved the fashion and spent a lot of time and effort into their coords because you couldn’t just stumble on it, you really had to be on the lookout. It’s not to say that people who didn’t have the dress weren’t real lolitas, but only that the people who did own it usually were very into the fashion, and had been for some time.

I kinda get this, but at the same time, Honey Cake and Sugary Carnival never screamed "status" to me. Stuff like Vanilla-Chan, Melty Ice-Kun, and obscure solids (Cutie Heart, Twirling Ribbon, etc) were way more of a signal that someone had/has been into the fashion for a long time. HL, HC, SC are all hype trains, even before the rereleases. I always thought "well of course they own those." It wasn't impressive.

But like I said, I get the general feeling. Cause some of us spent a lot of money and time looking for rare pieces that are now at risk of becoming common. Which I guess makes us feel... undervalued and dumb? Like if AP rereleases every item in my wardrobe tomorrow, my stuff looses a ton of value. I've honestly been hesitant lately to pay high prices anymore because everything feels like free game for a rerelease. But I'm not really mad at it? Because in the end, it means I can keep my originals or replace them/buy doubles and have less anxiety about wearing and ruining old rare things. For example, I had an unworn pink Toy Fantasy with tag that I never touched. I bought the MTO and now I can wear the MTO a lot easier, knowing I have the original as backup.

Also lastly, if you're into lolita for clout, you're in the wrong place.

This was my big problem with releasing Nakayoshi and Candy Fairy. They used to be basically top tier in terms of AP rarity and now everyone's going to have them. To quote the incredibles, if everyone's special, then no one is. Most of these people are just on the sweet hype train anyways, so once the trend dies they'll just dump them en masse on LM and wreck the market for something that used to be really special. I'm not saying they need to be crazy expensive but I have a vision of Nakayoshi sitting on LM with a price reduction and it makes me a bit sad desu.

Dude, think long term. You might want to change your style or drop lolita fashion all together. Lolita prices are quite a big deal, especially when you buy popular clothes at market prices. It isn't AP or anyone else's problem that you're spending money on a fashion you're not confident is worth the money for you. If you really can't afford to buy a dress unless you know it will be worth that or more in the future maybe be more financially responsible and treat the clothes as an investment in your happiness, not your bank account. The fact we can resell our clothes and have predictable price ranges for what we'll get back should we no longer like/want/be able to keep them is just a bonus.

The convo wasn't about what people can afford though, it's about people caring so much about "feeling special" because they have something someone else doesn't and being bothered by MTOs of things lots of people want because of it and that's silly, to hope against MTOs just so they can be elitist/feel better than everyone. I don't even want any of the dresses in this MTO release and I can see how dumb and whiny these people sound complaining about their "status pieces" being more acessible to people who wanted them.

I originally bought poly HC and then sold it to a friend and it strikes me as the type that would get damaged based on other AP pieces people have mentioned trouble with. When I owned MCD it was fine despite being chiffon and lighter. The quality of new AP on some items is a little questionable.

I’ll second this, the chiffon I’ve had little trouble with. I suppose it could get caught on shit and tear easily but it doesn’t show wear easily.

The printed poly is a fucking nightmare in my experience. Within a few wears, the print starts to show like wear? Idk how to describe it, it’s not like loose threads or pulls. The actual print starts to look like it’s wearing off, almost like I took sandpaper to it or something. I’ve experienced this only with my poly dresses, and my mcd was totally fine. I use a Samsung smart cleaner to dry clean and handle all my expensive clothes and I take really good care of them but toy circus, Elisabeth unicorn, and milky are some of the ones I can think of off the top of my head that had this problem.

It looks cute and wearable. This would work better if you added a fitting waist belt or even a cardigan to hide the puffy fold. If you decided to keep it and not sell it, get it altered into this style. It's your clothes foremost and if it looks good, and you like it then go for it! You can even use the extras to make a bow or suspenders. If you decide to sell it later, you can do it even altered but knowing that you'll have to sell it at a reduced price which as long as you're okay with it, and got to wear your fill of it, then in my opinion is absolutely okay.

Technically it is, but it kinda works for bunny theme, plus ears have more volume to them.

I was having a discussion with my friend the other day, she was insisting that Puppet Circus is still a most wanted item and AP should re-release it. While I think it's not as popular as it used to be and almost everyone who wanted it got it already. I also don't see it mentioned in any wtbs anymore and the sale prices did drop too.

As for me personally, the condition most dresses tend to be in now isn't worth the prices they command. That said, I think it makes more sense to shell out that money for the quality of PC than for the cotton sweet prints that are nearing these crazy prices now.

Puppet Circus is still a status piece but the passing of time has degraded the dresses that are still out there, a damaged sugary carnival is easier to fix than a damaged puppet circus

Wouldn't say it's still a "most wanted" item esp now with 2010 sweet coming back in full force but it's still a dress that commands respect

I’m also curious about condition of these. I keep reading these sales posts where people say they look really good for their age. Idk if this print really withstand the test of time or these are just luckily preserved gems. Don’t forget that this dress can’t be just thrown into the washer, some people don’t even try hand wash out of fear to ruin the print.
Another thing is that AP seems having difficult relationship with velvet, so if they actually do rerelease it might be Horror Garden kind of print, idk how’d I feel about that.

Why the fuck would I lie about that. I speak Japanese and emailed them and they replied.
Don't get angry just cause AP cares about me.

Lmao you clearly don’t know shit about Japanese language/culture. In Japanese getting a straight answer out of anyone is extremely rare. It’s always “I think” or “we’re not decided but probably x”. It’s considered impolite to state something as a fact, especially when you’re speaking to a customer or someone of higher position. For example, when I called and asked about store hours they will always say “I think from 8am to 8pm”.

>it’s not very japanese to give unhelpful answers
Unhelpful answers is the most Japanese thing in the world anon.
