No? Rococo fashion isn't based on just one person and I'm a history major, there are plenty of other nobility lolita fashion could have latched onto and they chose a famously beheaded queen. Sorry if that doesn't make you feel superior.

Even AP releases/released Marie Antoinette dresses. It is really doubtful BABY idolizes her to any extreme degree more than they idolize kumyas or cute sweets or flowers for including them in prints regularly. It's obviously just another common theme.

Plus, she is a well known famous name in history. You really think they're gonna know all the other people associated with the style among non historians in Japan when a princess/queen was the most popular and lolita is heavily inspired by princess like themes too?

I've been posting these for a while now, so I'm surprised to see opposition about it only now. I post these backgrounds as AP releases them. Whenever a new print goes up for sale, they change the background of their website to the print and I take it from there (well, not all the time, since I don't really keep up with AP). There is no point having a thread specifically for prints because there is simply not enough new content to fill it. Those threads have also historically been pretty unpopular, and they often end up dying before hitting max posts/images. Lastly, this is the lolita general. Anything lolita-related goes.

I've never ordered from BB&B but I always worry about this shit with indie brands. ime they're way worse at customer service than even the stereotypical inflexible Japanese companies. A Japanese brand might not give you a refund or let you return something, but they'll at least answer their fucking emails in a timely manner.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Lady Sloth. I placed an order 3 mos ago. Payment went through, and it's listed in the orders section on my account, and I got an automated confirmation email right away. But they never sent any kind of non-automated "we're working on your order" thing, so did they actually see it? idk? When I placed the order they were saying their turnaround was a few weeks, then they bumped that up to 2 mos. Obv it's weeks passed that point and they've listed a bunch of new products on the site, and de-listed some of the things I bought, so they're obviously active.

I sent them a message on the site about a week ago, asking about my order status. They still haven't replied. It's very frustrating.

idc if making the items takes longer than usual, but there should be some communication over the months of wait time. I bought winter stuff, thinking it'd be in b4 Christmas because of what they said on their site. Now idk if I'll get it b4 spring, or if I'll have to cancel the order or make a paypal claim, or if they've even started working on it at all.

The idea of cgl being the cesspit of the lolita community and everyone who posts here is an asshole is pretty silly in 2020 considering there is no other global lolita forum left that I know of (I don't count groups like CoF) and this place has been pretty tame since the great drama ban. Dear gulls,

I'm getting my girlfriend a chapel veil for Christmas. The two I'm looking at on Etsy are either in an infinity style, or a standard D-shaped veil. I figure you lolita lot would have experience with veils, so is there a meaningful difference in the comfort or fashion choices around these two styles?
Which would you prefer, all else equal?

Thank you

I’ve been having so much trouble with small brands this year. BB&B took 4 months to send me a necklace. Last year lady sloth took almost 7 to send a MTO dress I bought (not from a timed release it was available on their site for a long time) and I played email tag for ever. I also inquired about blouse colors FOUR TIMES and never got a reply. violet fane has major quality issues. And then theres a ton of Etsy/Small Accessories sites have been slow, taking way more than the quoted time to ship out their stuff.

My thing is this. If you are running a business it doesn’t matter if it’s a lemonade stand or amazon, service matters. I am PAYING for a service/good and customers are owed at least good communication when things go wrong, instead of being left in the dark. Tons of these small shops are throwing around excuses about health or being swamped with orders but there’s a simple solution to it. Close the shop for a bit, limit order quantities, or at least send regular update emails to your customers!

It’s been so frustrating and I’m tired of writing emails that make me feel like a Karen just to find my order. Sorry for the rant it’s just really frustrating. I’ve finally gotten to a financial position where I can buy the clothes/accessories I want. I love supporting small/indie business but at this point I’m just gonna start giving my money to burando.

Ok you can have your stained, faded 10 year old dresses that have had more owners for ~status~ than the ponies on the dress. And you can overpay for it too.

Meanwhile I, and the landwhales will be actually supporting the brand and designers that created this. It's because of people buying the new HC and the like that AP is even doing these re-releases.

If you want a dress for status you are boring af and have no personal style. Status dresses gain and lose their status as you can clearly see. No one cared about sugary Carnival for a long time up until sweet started coming back in like a year ago. Clearly dress status is so fragile since you are clinging so hard to it by deeming the re-releases less. In the mean time, I'll be over here actually enjoying my wardrobe for what it is, and my own taste in clothes.

My most recent problem is that I ordered from them in September, I waited two months for them to ship my item that was sold as being in stock, not a pre-order. They finally admitted it was going to be a “little longer” but no specific date so they gave me the option to cancel and get a refund so I did. I had to email them to remind them actually give me my money, the kept saying they were gonna do it but never did. All the items I’ve bought from them this year have had defects or fell apart upon first wear, my older stuff is still fine. They’ve gone downhill and they’re cutting corners. I'm not defending or condoning bb&b's practices in the given examples where they were uncommunicative or shipped defective product, but having barriers to cross inherently filters out certain types of customers. Note that etsy's customer base became shittier and shittier over time as they started hitting the mainstream more.

Also stores can reserve the right to decide who they want to do business with. If you can take your money elsewhere, businesses can decide not to do business with you for whatever reason they deem. It may not be the best thing for their money but it's probably worth it for their sanity. Dealing with American customers is probably the worst in the rest of the world because of that entitled "customer is always right" mentality.

the dress has potential to work if coordinated well, but i think she'd need better/more intricate legwear (e.g. lace topped black OTKs or subtly printed tights), better shoes, and a more prominent hair accessory. the neckline of the dress is throwing me off too, so a lolita cardigan or bolero in black would fix that.

As a classic lolita: It being styled exactly like JetJ ads is exactly why this is pushing it, for me. JetJ specifically style their ads that way because they try to distance themselves from being lolita. There's nothing wrong with that, nor is the fact that mostly lolitas buy from them, but that's still relevant to the argument, I think.

Basically, the question is: is wearing a single main piece from a brand the community considers lolita enough to make an outfit unquestionably lolita on its own? I don't really think so. It's a lovely outfit and I think the retro hairstyle and simple accessories look great with it, but I would hesitate to call this lolita without at least some more extensive detailing- either from the main piece choice, or the accessorizing/styling.

It DEFINITELY is true. I’ve got a bunch of family members that are SAHMs and I can not for the life of me figure out what the hell they do all day because they still make their husbands do half the cleaning and their kids eat processed bullshit and they just use a lot of the shitty single use garbage that’s common in America instead of washing and reusing things, like those plastic bags people cover their pots with, and paper plates and napkins. A couple of them have so much free time they try to start shitty “businesses” like ugly jewelry or candles or lularoe. Like maybe you wouldn’t feel the need to try to start another job if you a) didn’t waste so much money on bullshit pre-cooked processed food and disposable everything and b) kept yourself busy by cooking and cleaning aka doing your literal job.
Goddamn this shit pisses me off. I’d love to be a stay at home mom and cook from scratch meals and take pride in having a beautiful clean home, instead I’m busy af working and try to squeeze that shit in the fest I can. If you choose to stay home, do it right.

>> No.10522060

>>10520478
What exactly does it need then? Honestly if she were to go any busier with the makeup or accessories it would detract from the dress, which is clearly the main focus of the outfit. It’s a busy print even though it’s in more subtle, muted colours, and anything more would look unbalanced. This is just a great example of a more mature coord, with more grown up choices on makeup and accessories, including footwear, than a lot of what’s seen as trendy within Lolita. Even within classic there is a big range, with some very cutesy and girly, some more mature. Personally I think that going for more typical footwear choices within the fashion would look out of place with this dress.

>> No.10522301

Unfortunately, that's entirely subjective and an argument this community has had a thousand times, but it boils down to what 'feels' lolita from person to person. It's never going to be the same depending on who you ask, but I'll give my personal opinions on which aspects take away from the lolita feel. I could break down the aspects of it that I think add or detract from it feeling lolita to me, if you'd like?

Again, I think it's a lovely outfit, I just hesitate to really call it lolita.
