As far as kickstarter bags go, it seems pretty cute, though I'm not sure how many characters will fit it theme wise.

SV anon here! I haven't revamped my SV bag yet (still waiting for my official merch, the jade pendant just shipped to my proxy!) but I brought all my Jin Guangyao and Lan Xichen merch with me into lockdown at my family so I could finally work on my MDZS bags! One down, one to go (JGY-centric this time).

Hope you're all doing well. Did anyone get some good 11/11 deals on merch?

I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality. The ears seemed to have bent a bit while it was being delivered, but I don't mind.

That's just how it turns out because they'll put lots of character names in the description. The buttons I ordered online you could just upload any image you wanted and print a button, similar to Redbubble... which I did using the $95+ art I commissioned of my character. And yes I tipped. But like I said the website got shut down, probably due to some copyright infringement. If you have art of your character already I wouldn't really consider that to factor into the cost of the itabag itself which is why I quoted it at ~$100.

Btw, this is why the itabagging community is dead, because people like you have to sperg out and accuse people of being sketchy when you know literally nothing about the circumstances. Jesus fuck

Just curious, but how serious (I use this very loosely) is bagging as a hobby for you guys? Are you someone who is always buying new merch for a long time fave or someone who puts together an entire bag in the course of a month or two? >> No.10553085

>>10553051
For me, itabagging is like a branch off of collecting like collecting stamps, collecting stickers, etc. so for me, it’s more of a hobby than like a project or a task that you have to complete. Maybe it’s a shit example but I’m thinking like uh when you’re moving or wanting to change around the house and you either:

1, have joy in picking and choosing which type of furniture or wall color and so on that you want until the finished product is complete. Usually someone isn’t going to keep it on the mind or make changing around the house a hobby. Or keeping with the theme of houses:

2, you found like some DIY method for shelving or something and it involves woodworking but it’s not like you’re 100% likely going to develop or pursue a hobby of woodworking after finishing up. Or if you want to paint a couple of DIY products for your house but it doesn’t 100% mean that you’ll start painting as a hobby or pursuing more DIY projects immediately but everyone is different and take different times to get interested.

I'm the long time fav type. I've always liked collecting things, and I've been collecting general anime merch for nearly 10 years now. I had character themed collections before itabags were a trend, I just love having things with my favorite characters on them. Seeing a wall of my fav's face awakens some primal part of my brain. I also never really consider a bag 'done', I have 3 different bags for the same character (he has a lot of merch) and things still get added and moved around before I take them to events. Some of my early itabags were so embarrassingly shoddy compared to now, so I do feel some pride in the actual organizing and effort put into the presentation, but it's not especially important to me as a creative work, I just love my favs.

I don't understand the people who rapid fire make different bags. If they really do genuinely like all the characters then more power to them ig, but the one person I personally knew who did that ended up regretting a handful of them because they impulse bought flavor-of-the-month characters and then lost interest.

I was hoping for general tips, but I can name it if it helps. I've been looking for Rosario + Vampire (2009) figures. The manga is easily obtainable, but the Sega figures in specific are like a dime a dozen and at least $100+. I've also been on the hunt for volume 8 of the +Anima manga (also 2009), but it's going for $40-130 + fees. It’s Joseph! I’m working on a Young Joseph bag right now, but I do love Oldseph just as much. The whole ita = ugly idea for never really seems to apply to this section of the community unless I just like ugly things lol. I feel like most people (from the beginning?) tries to doll up their bag and focus on aesthetics. Like there’s some gaudy elements but I feel it’s like a passive idea compared to the idea of hurting your wallet (major) and you physically/carrying a heavy thing around or pricking yourself. (minor)

I do see where you’re coming from now the more I think about the Lolita fashion and how they call others ita as a derogatory term but in fandom fashion, it just didn’t turn out that way from my awareness. Like yeah a few people may privately roll their eyes over an ugly presentation but it’s more embraced to just (relatively) present how you want and others are suppose to accept it because it’s about showing your own love to your own favorite character/thing.

So yeah, ita in fandom fashion = painful; buying so much for your bag it’s [relatively] expensive (or possibly dedication? your dedication is so strong it hurts you in multiple ways?), while ita in lolita communities = painful; to look at (derogatory)

>i think the most id go towards cosplay is a themed type of outfit surrounding my faves but i don’t want to actually cosplay?
This is the "disneybound"/"animebound" thing, right? Character-inspired outfits are super common, like the other anon said.
There are also brands like Super Groupies that make anime/game clothes with some super wearable designs, if you're into merch that can blend in with normal fashion.

Starting to overload on merch but still cannot find a base for a Tokyo MewMew itabag and it’s crushing my soul. A lot of the enamel pins are originals so i want to do this bag justice but I can’t find anything PERFECT. I want to do a strawberry bag or a flan/pudding bag (Pudding is my fav) but I am too damned picky

How do you tell if a bag is a bootleg if it's just one of those basic amazon ones? This is the one I have and it's held up for a couple years now, but it's sold in every online store under the sun so I imagine it's impossible to find the original at this point.

Rather than pinning from the front (what you've been doing), take your insert or inside of the bag or wherever and stab the pin there/ have your pin on the inside of the bag. A tiny piece of pin would be visible on the front (what pierced through) and you attach charms to that.

If you need a visual guide I'll post when I get home.

Sorry for the newfaggotry, I've been into itabags for a while but never had any interest in polaroids until now. Does anyone have recommendations for where to buy protective covers for these, or do you just DIY it with laminating materials?
Also, if you have any inspo or deco'd a polaroid yourself I would love to see it.
