just out of curiosity, how many items do usually you hold at your SS's warehouse before shipping the whole lot?

>> No.10496958

>>10496951
I think more in terms of weight than number of items. If I'm buying something heavy like boots or a coat for example, I'll ship it alone or with 1 or 2 other small items. Otherwise, I'll add things until I feel the shipping will start getting too expensive.

>> No.10496970

>>10496951
Usually I try to get a few things, especially small items like accessories that would be silly to ship on their own. So usually 1-3 dresses and a few small things too. Or maybe that's me trying to justify some more frivolous purchases...

However due to weirdness with international shipping at the moment, I have a backup of stuff in a warehouse in Japan. I'm starting to lose hope that EMS will come back anytime soon though, so I'll just have to pay a small fortune to DHL.

The felt gives it more grip and prevents your dresses from slipping off. Especially if it's a heavy dress. I don't really recommend hanging heavy dresses though because it stresses the neckline/straps.

Are Angelic Pretty petticoats worth their price, or am I better off buying an offbrand one?

Been eyeing this one on the AP paris site since I need a new petti. Don't mind the 129 euro price tag as long as it has very good poof and doesn't deflate quickly.

fwiw I live in Europe so with customs fees it probably won't be that much cheaper for me to buy a high quality offbrand one elsewhere.

etsy shops:
MyInspirationJewelry - sells embroidered floral brooches and necklaces
JellyCherry - mostly deco food things but also some animals and other cute things
thefablemarket - OTT stuff, looks like mostly clay sculpted pendants and resin
CheekyCuteBoutique - dainty sweet stuff
PeachandParfait - OTT stuff

SolSiniestra - gothic
DefyJewelry - mostly gothic
openthecellardoor - more gothic stuff
ArcanaXIII - gothic pieces, mostly pagan stuff
FromBeyondDolls - more gothic stuff
mMURMURES - weird gothic stuff
SweetFuryJewelry - personal favorite, sort of unusual gothic art pieces
MisfitMakes - lasercut jewelry, weird stuff that could work for a variety of styles
JewelrywitAttitude - a mix with a bunch of ugly stuff, but some pieces would work good for gothic or punk, maybe even classic or sweet

How much did the Lolita/Gothic Lolita/ Otome subcultures had to do with drugs?

>> No.10501579

Novala Takemoto (Shimotsuma Monogatari/Kamikaze girls author and has worked closely with BTSSB) was arrested for marijuana in Japan back in 2007. They take weed really seriously in Japan (or at least they used to, idk if laws or social attitudes have changed since I last researched this) and it's a bigger crime than it would be in the USA. But that's really the only relation desu, and that's not a strong connection.

Since Japan has such strict drug laws, I kind of doubt drugs shaped the fashion subcultures of lolita that awful much. I'd wager a bet gyaru was waaay more likely to be influenced by drugs than lolita.

> I'm afraid that M would be too big and S too small.
This is me (feet are 23 cm on the dot and narrow) and I avoid tea party shoes desu. My feet hit the ends of the S and it’s painful. The M flop around and you can see the empty space. For other shoes I get M it’s not as noticeable. I think wearing shoes a little too big makes your legs look slimmer while too small makes them look more chunky too. Occasionally they’ll put out a style where the S is 23 cm so I watch for those.

Your feet might be different than mine so it might be worth it to get a cheap secondhand pair just to try and see.

Thank you anon. I'll buy a cheap pair secondhand and try that.
It's weird though since when I checked my foot size it was 22cm (I measured it twice to be sure). I have a pair of Bodyline shoes which are 23cm and tight so I thought AP M size which is 23,5cm would fit but they don't. I wish the shoe sizing was consistent all the time..

I wasn’t able to pick up a package from FromJapan a while ago, so it got sent back to them. They’ve confirmed that they’ve received it, but it’s been “scheduled for reshipment” for like two weeks now. Has anyone else had this happen? Usually when you schedule things for shipment normally it only takes them a couple of days, is there anything special about re-shipping things that have been sent back that takes extra time?

>> No.10501981

>>10501809

nayrt. It's probably the width/space rather than the length. If your feet feels squeezed it's usually the width, or the actual size of the shoe (as in, the space encased by the shoe is just too small to contain your feet).

If your toes curl up and have no room to lie flat (or if they hit the ends of the shoes like other anon says) then it's the length.

There's also some folks who are simply in between sizes, so M might be too big and S too small.

It's just an unfortunate part of shopping online that you can't try on the shoes to spot problems like these. If the shoes are too big, then I'd suggest padding it with more inserts to make it wearable. Or, give up on lolita shoes altogether, buy white/beige shoes and learn to paint/customise normie shoes to suit your wardrobe.

>> No.10501985

>>10501981
It most likely is the width. I have a bunch of sosic shop's shoes and the size 37 fits perfectly (I also have some in size 38 which are just a bit too big) I only really wanted to buy a pair of fitting authentic AP shoes to wear to official events/when visiting the stores. I don't mind replica shoes for daily use as pleather shoes are awful but it's cringy to wear replicas to official tea parties.

You’re getting things a little mixed up. The book that popularized the concept of lolita was The Lolita Complex by Russell Trainer, not a novel but a pop (read: fake) psychology text that supposedly tried to explain why men are attracted to teenage girls. It caught on in Japan for some reason and that’s where they got the loan word “lolicon”; lolita as referring to an attractive young girl came from that. It’s just as much glorifying of pedophilia as the novel and nowhere near as well written.

I think how good you'll look in them really depends on your body type/shape. Some people will see this post and say fattychans all look the same, but there's definitely some people who look better in certain cuts than others. IMO, they look better if you have a small chest and smaller upper body (like, small shoulders, upper arms aren't as fat, etc). That's not say you could never ever wear one, but if you care about wearing items that flatter you, it just might not be an item that will flatter you.

When I had sack dresses I preferred to wear them with a belt, because for my body type/shape, waist definition is a must. IMO waist definition is really helpful in lolita for fattychans in general, but I digress. I don't have broad shoulders, but I have fleshier upper arms and big tits. Waist definition helps balance that out, wearas the sack shape really emphasizes my width. Like I said, I have seen some bigger girls wear them, but they tend to have small shoulders, skinny arms, and a smaller chest (so usually carrying their weight in the lower part of their body).

Try looking into kibbe body types - fair warning, there can be a lot of confusing info online about them and some people get really autistic about it. But, learning about the general concept helped me understand what types of cuts will look better on my body. Kibbe types don't change regardless of weight gain, so as long as you aren't like, so obese you look like a weeble, then you may find the information helpful to you re: being able to pull off sack dresses.

That said, you do you. If you really want to wear a sack dress and you just don't care about what other people think you look like, then go for it.

So my question really is, does LM stop counting bids during the last minute(s) so no one can just swoop in and snag items? Or was the system just being weird with me with this one instance?

This. Although studies show a large number of people attracted to prepubescent children are also attracted to post puberty and adult women as well, the reality is if someone wants to nut to kids, a young looking adult isn't enough. Men (or pedos of any gender) often get creepy thrills from knowing they are x number of years older than a girl or child, or the taboo and inappropriate nature of their fetish turns them on more so the logical pursuit of a consenting adult who happens to have aged well isn't a viable option to these sickos.

For cotton dresses, remove all detachable items, turn inside out, put in a garment bag, and wash on delicate. Lay flat to dry. You'll want to handwash anything with chiffon or glitter for sure. Some polyester dresses can handle the washing machine, but it's a risk for some of them.
