Tbh i dont think WTBs or wishlists are a problem. We literally do that all the time in the BST thread here... its just a fb version. Don't be mad at people posting the WTBs, get mad at them for ignoring the offers when they come up.

I love throwing WTBs on the FB threads, sometimes a Xianyu SS will deep dive for me and find it in some cave on the app for a good price, and sometimes people who have items they were only thinking of selling see motivation to do so. The big issue is people expecting way less than market value after asking for them.

Because this is CGL anon, and everyone complains about everything. But also, this girl kinda hits all the pain points:

- ye olde medical bills excuse for price gouging
- overpricing a generically sweet print that no one actually cares about that much (the mint JSK set unaltered is $100 cheaper on LM)
- pretending like she's not responsible for lost packages
- trying to guilt trip by mentioning being sick

While usually a high-priced sweet item complaint would be met with "STFU poorfag" on CGL this rule does not apply to fatties who will always be subjected to additional abuse.

I don't understand the guilt complex. If I pay $300 for a dress and decide to light it on fire, that's my prerogative. I do understand the anxiety about fucking a dress up tho. I went to a local "seamstress" to repair the hem of one of my dresses after the stiches came out and she fucked it up so badly I wish I had just done it myself.

>> No.10500394

>>10500383

The guilt is because of the "alteration shaming" that people tend to do if it is to change fit to accomodate a lower weight (people are fine with lengthening straps or taking things in but hate a dress made to fit significantly larger even if it looks fine on the person's body if the alteration doesn't seem pretty on the hanger)

Most lolitas are otherwise normies and subject to peer pressure and self esteem issues despite the "we don't care what people think" rebellious origin of the fashion. They probably feel afraid of being shit talked for altering though I'm sure most normal people don't care and would rather fatties have a dress that fits well than squishing into something that doesn't.

>> No.10500416

>>10500265
I think it depends how you market it and if the alteration was done professionally.

What I mean to say is, if I wanted a dress just a bit bigger in the bust, an alteration buy a reputable professional (letting out) even just a little, will still cost about 150USD and up (If a tailor at an actual tailors does it). So if marketed to someone who needs that size, I might argue it's worth the price.

However, I prefer to bring things to my tailor rather than trust the franken-dresses we see on Lacemarket.

But to your point, yeah no real professional would ever in a million years put their name on the modifications I’ve see on Lm, including this one. To be fair, there’s a lot of “seamstresses” out there that have no business advertising their services as professional.

In this case, making the bodice bulkier with straight lines like that makes it seem unnatural and actually draws attention to the larger stature. “Professionals” that do this style of modification are lazy imo and taking advantage of people who don’t know any better. Just cause you can see doesn’t make you qualified to make this kind of structural change to a garment.

>> No.10500454

>>10500425

At least!

I needed to let out two dresses at the bust just a bit. Waist was fine. To source fabric and add two gussets (with lining) and let it out at the bust cost 175$ USD both times.

I take my Lolita dresses to a well known bespoke tailor in my area, and so I know I'm paying a bit extra for his time, but I'd rather know it's going to be done well than end up with the Lolita equivalent of Frankenstein's monster.

Actually a lot of people. This also varies drastically on where you wear the dress. Fatties often wear skirts quite high so their fat rolls act like a petti and are hidden by the shape, and because their waist under the boobs is much smaller than their actual waist line.

Weirdly enough tho, I don't hate this. She didn't overprice it, they did re-releases across all AP platforms so it's not super rare, and the modification isn't top tier, but it's not been destroyed. what's there to get so pissy about? Oh I look at my like list all the time. Literally multiple times a day. Sometimes I use LM likes for fun and plan whole coords with items I wouldn't neccesarily buy even if I like them and then draw lolita characters wearing those coords. Sometimes I like cutsews and blouses for inspo for my handmade pieces too.

I didn't realize no one uses their likes list considering it's the only "bookmark" function on LM. I use it more to save things for later rather than an ig like.

Most auction sites use a max bid system and so does LM. If you max bid say $10 for a starting action of $5 then it'll place the first bid for $6. If no one else bids then you only pay $6. If someone else bids say $7, then the system automatically rebids for you to $8. It'll keep doing this until it reaches you max bid.

>> No.10505171

>>10505168
Ok so I understand that, that's very helpful. My next question is does LM show what the highest bid is? The bid only gets raised if someone else bids on it.
Say, if the starting bid is $1 and I put my highest bid at $100, if no one else bids, the bid will show as $2.
If someone bids $10, then the price will raise to $11 as my highest bid is still higher than the competing bid. Someone would have to outbid my $100 before their bid shows up as the highest bid.

I usually take out the ribbon of the back lacing, because I think it’s unnecessary and comes undone quickly. Honestly, at some point I had to add a tag to the bundle so I would remember which ribbon belongs to which dress. Once I panicked, because the ribbon of an AP dress was so cheap, I absolutely thought it must’ve belonged to a Bodyline dress, but it ended up being the right one.
But waist ties? How easy is that. If I don’t use them I just store them on the same hanger (you can just use the buttonhole and pull the hook through it).

Agree. I know where all my waist ties are and If I were to sell a dress I would dig them up to make sure that they stayed with that dress.

Low key someone didn't disclose all the missing pieces of a dream dress of mine. When I got it, it was missing all the ties and bows. I was so pissed. I messaged the seller who said she would look for them, but she ghosted me afterwards.

It's okay now though, someone posted the same dress months later for a ludicrously low price, so I bought it just for the missing pieces.

Moving houses will do it, especially if there's other people involved, so what can started out well-organised can end up with the box containing all the detachable bits being shoved somewhere in storage.

Or it might not even be missing, you never know if something happened to the waist ties but not the dress, like a house fire, pest infestation, dog ate it, lost luggage, someone stole some stuff and accidentally ended up with waist ties, etc etc. Or the far more likely explanation that someone bought it secondhand and it just didn't come with any detachable bits.

This >>10506236 and >>10506403 are just kinda assholey though. At least disclose the missing pieces are missing, and if seller does find the missing pieces it'd be nice to ask the buyers if they still want it. I think half the time they won't (if they already knew the waist ties were missing and were okay with that when they bought the dress it's likely they can't be bothered to pay shipping for the extras they didn't count on anyway), but it's still polite to ask anyway.

I was in a long distance relationship for a long time, so I've basically lived out of suitcases for more than 2 years until we finally moved together. Things got lost or forgotten on the hotel floor, while moving or traveling, while I stayed at my parents parents or while I trusted my laundry to my mom or my bf. It were usually the small detachable things that went missing, like waist ties, brooches, pins. Though once I forgot an Excentrique jacket in a hotel room and I'm still sad about it today even though it happened like 5 years ago. >half the time they won't
>half, not all

Not every dress that gets sold is somebody's dream print, sometimes it will just be a nameless, not-that-popular, nobody-cares nice solid dress that had waist ties and now it's just still a nice solid dress without waist ties, the new owner may or may not care about it.

Not to mention, if it's missing some pieces in the first place, the most likely person to buy it is someone on a lower budget willing to settle on a lower price with an incomplete dress. In their eyes, the discount may no longer be "worth it" if they have to pay extra to ship the waist ties, especially if the dress isn't all that highly valued to begin with (either market value, or the buyer's own; the dress may have been bought because it was cheap and not because it was on the buyer's wishlist).

Then, there's a couple of prints where the "waist tie" is just a long ribbon with nothing on it (AP's Melty Berry, at least one Moitie dress, probably others), so it may have already been replaced (if you don't like taobao/eBay ribbons, just shell out for Shindo Inc ribbons, they're pretty close to brand quality).

There's also gonna be at least a few who have already sold the dress to someone else, so of course they have no use for waist ties of a dress they no longer own. Heck, if the sale was years ago the buyer may have even sold the dress on, too.

Disregarding the ones that, I guess, don't like waist ties (? I mean, if so many get lost/misplaced then I guess there's some girls who don't like them?) -- there's enough reasons why some buyers won't bother paying extra to ship random missing waist ties.

Those are kind of... opposed to each other. When you collect something (I collect plushes and figures.) you want to keep it in one piece, yes, but you also want to have it maintain optimal value. Why do you think people display figures in cabinets, even for smaller collections? Or why do you think people display plushes on shelves instead of plopping them on their beds to sleep with? It's to maintain that optimal condition and avoid damage.

With clothes, even if you're very very careful, it's still possible to accrue stains over time. And the optimal state is NWT. So, yeah. If you're collecting you're going to wear clothes as little as possible, to avoid damage as much as possible. I wouldn't call that wearing the fashion. I'd call it "using your body as a display mannequin for a collection."

The socks and non rereleased colorways and cuts are the rarest since everyone and their mom who doesn't hate poly got the MTO, but a harder to find cut may not be worth the price with stains that aren't guaranteed to come out.

I do wonder why the seller didn't just list the JSK and KC as bidding. They'd probably have been able to get more than their BIN price with a bidding war.
