Here some nice wiki entry on it with actual japanese sources that prove otherwise, it's just the west that's too retarded to grasp that it's not casual lolita

problem is that a lot of the brands labeles as otome in the west don't even share styles in most cases, leur getter being the prime example of that as it's just lolita now

Casual Lolita is casual lolita. Otome is otome, there’s a big difference between the styles but now you have so many subcategories of fashion it’s impossible to keep it up.

Otome now is just dead. Let it go

It's not that people stopped caring about the brands, it's just that the misinformation regarding what is otome kept getting worse in a way that the tag is almost only casual lolita without a petti with everything lacking the mismatched retro feeling and layering.

the entire way that the western lolita community views jfashion was wrong. japanese jfashion wearers are more about brand loyalty, not being a part of a subculture. despite what cgl insists, i doubt your average wearer of emikyu, MILK, or JM would bunch themselves with Angelic Pretty, BTSSB or IW wearers. Those brands also weren't often featured in the GLB or KERA. didn't the creator of Jane Marple even say they weren't lolita?

the name may not be considered otome, but i don't think it's fair to say "it's just casual lolita". i don't even think japanese lolitas use that term.

they consider liz lisa and amavel to be casual lolita? seems like what japanese people consider casurori is lolita inspired casual clothes. not lolita clothes worn casually. and none of those are what are considered "otome" brands either so that kinda kills the theory that Milk/Emikyu/JM are considered casurori
