Strangely enough, I can tell what she's trying to match.

- There's blue stripes on the milk carton in the print. So she added the blue apron, blue striped socks and the she (my guess) thinks the darker blue on the cutsew matches the darker blue on the print.
- There's bright pink lettering on the print, and she (probably) thinks the cutsew is the perfect matching shade, plus added the pink ribbon to the apron to "tie" it all in.
- In terms of colour theory, brown and light blue are generally acknowledged to "go together"

....it....it just looks very colourblind all the same. Colour me impressed, I didn't think anyone could be this thoughtful with their coording and still mess up this badly.

Hair is a part of a coord as is skin and makeup, etc. sometimes. Unstyled hair that doesn't balance his coords or emulate lolita styles/aesthetics and unkempt facial hair (or any facial hair at all desu...lolita is a rebellious fashion that relies on femininity, you don't see Mana with a caterpillar on his lip or without makeup) all detract from a coord.

The dude is good at styling clothes but isn't putting effort into anything in his face/hair. Women in lolita sometimes get abuse or complaints for their natural hair being too thin or flat, unstyled, not wearing wigs, not wearing enough makeup, etc. It's fair and totally egalitarian to hold men in lolita to the same standard as women and expect them to balance a coord in every area we expect women to. Many brolitas used to regularly coord just as well as women and I'm sure some still do, men aren't incapable of wearing a feminine fashion properly.

Don't hold dudes to a lower standard, we knoe they can do better just like 16 year old itas can do better but still get posted/nitpicks get posted because we expect more. If we don't hold male wearers of the fashion to the same standard as female ones, they'll never have any incentive to improve. The HMHM is actually the first piece I ever owned, I only found out it was a replica a few years in. The entirety of my wardrobe is now AP/baby except for that skirt. I can't bring myself to wear it knowing it's a replica, but it is legitimately fantastic quality, so because of that and nostalgia I haven't gotten rid of it. The fabric is thick, the embroidery is beautiful, and the lace is gorgeous. It's a really nice skirt. Shame they didn't give it an original design.

The dress is a shapeless sac that would make most AP cuts look downright tailored. Look at how it's just ballooning out from the bodice strap, this is literally the least flattering cut you could do. Ironing the dress would not do it any favors and it would still look like a bed sheet. The striped tights just make the whole outfit clash. The only cute thing about this is the purse.
