I don’t know if you meant you were scared of ripping the cards with the tape or scared of damaging the bag with possible residue, but if it’s the former than I’d suggest thin acrylic/plastic trading card sleeves. They come in a variety of sizes and are easy to poke holes in if you’d prefer adding a strap over using tape or adhesive.

Maid Butler from Aku no Himitsu Kessya! The company recently appeared as the villains in Dogengers and several of the characters got new merch to go with the show, so I emailed the to ask whether they'd be re-issuing Maid Butler's.... and nope, only the president is getting new stuff and there are no plans to resell past merch.

And the sad part is that the company isn't popular enough for there to be a 2nd hand market, so that's out of the question, too. Ugh.

You can just take the ideas you like and use them elsewhere. Normie fashion has been using clear bags for years, you can just buy the same itabags, fill them with whatever fashion accessories, and still have fun. The only downside is not posting them to itabag groups, but that's relatively minor (you can still post to the relevant fashion groups anyhow).

I wouldn't suggest getting into itabag hobby for the sake of getting into itabag hobby anyhow. Seems like a waste of money to go out and buy a bunch of keychains just so you can have a nerdy bag. It doesn't prove your nerd cred and it isn't even needed to particpate in fandom groups anyhow.

Now, if you're already collecting merch, then it's a wonderful way to use them to make a display that you can carry around. It's just that buying merch to get into itabags rather than getting into itabags because you buy merch feels somewhat like doing things backwards.

I think the amount of merch is good imo, but I'd definitely rec just spending some time playing tetris and organizing everything to maximize the space. You can see a lot of empty space near the top and sides of the bag, but a lot of the straps are still overlapping and covering up other things. For example, the button on the bottom right could be moved towrd the empty space at the top, and then all the overlapping straps on that side have more room to lay flat, giving it a neater appearance.

Are there any good Eastern culture themed empty base bags around?

Does anyone have any good suggestions for the color of the base bag? I want to base it off on two characters, one characters main color is light blue/white, other one is red/black, i just feel like those two colors are not harmonious together. I feel like, out of all the possible mismatching colour schemes, this one is actually quite lucky. A black bag with a white insert will work easily, the white will be a good background for your merchandise and black bags show dirt a lot less easily.

(Though I see nothing wrong with doing an all-white bag if you happen to favour the white/blue character a bit more than you favour the black/red one)

Then just go back and add the red+blue pairing in other ways, like for eg, tie a pair of red and blue ribbons around the handles, or something.

I was going to print official art by the creator of the series. Is there a special trick to getting your merch to lay just right/flat? I get the perfect look before I pin charms down and because they're always moving from side to side I end up having gaping spots or things out of place.

Anyone have advice on making your own buttons? Every type of "design your own" i can find has spotty reviews. I want to take Sanrio character flake stickers and collage them to make some buttons to wear in addition to my main bag.

Not a ton you can do except maybe try curved pins and detach the charm from any long keychains. You can try adhesive bits like glue dots but they tend to leave residues or damage the charms print unless the back is already coated in resin or something like that

I would still not do it. depending on washi tape (and acrylic charm), it can peel the print off.

If the adhesive of the washi tape is relatively tacky, if left in the heat, could cause sticky residue to remain if you choose to remove it.

if you MUST use the washi tape, I recommend an acrylic charm cover and then covering that with washi tape

While it's a bad idea for protecting acrylics, I personally don't see any issue if you want to jazz up the backside, especially if it's just a white layer.

On an unrelated note, I ordered the official Scum Villain charms and didn't realize they used the same new PET film printing process that Vograce introduced this summer. I ended up peeling off the entire artwork off the acrylic because I thought it was just an extremely difficult protective wrapper to peel off. Thankfully it was just the logo on the back, but just a heads up this new style of printing may become commonplace, at least in Chinese products.

In some occasions, base itabags from Kickstarters and whatnot seem to be getting smaller. Better off just marketing as a just a funky bag or something.
