I live in a place that has been over 100 degrees F almost every day this summer and I always wear a blouse or cardigan in my coords (I wear lolita at least 4 times a week). The blouse and cardigan actually protect my skin from being straight up roasted by the sun (I'm black and even wear sunscreen but the clothing protects my skin more).

Seeing people who live in places that do commonly have AC whine about lolita in summer at 75-80 degree F temperatures and use it as an excuse for no blouse annoy me. If you want to go blouseless just wear an OP or wear something early lolita or old school inspired with an ETC or brand cami and skirt or even a short sleeved cutsew and skirt with no petti so there are less layers of fabric, that will actually keep you more cool than a satiny or poly lined JSK directly on your skin.

This is just an annoying trend that needs to die if people aren't going to actually dress for comfort or be creative and are just removing the blouse from a coord for clout. They also don't have to wear lolita or call their outfit lolita if they really want to not have to wear a blouse. Just wear the shit but don't assume a brand coord or any half assed outfit aside from jeans and a tee is lolita.

I have lived in multiple places with varying climates and definitely wouldn't call myself acclimated to the heat (even locals living here forever know it's hotter than usual here)

I'm not mad people deal with heat differently. I just find the urge people gave to call non lolita coords lolita annoying. And I find the excuse of heat questionable in some cases (one girl wore a tanktop but old school otks in a blouseless coord who lives in the same place as me, and while I found the outfit cute...long thick socks are not gonna keep you cool. It's not the handmade. Those lace up platform shoes are practically an ita staple, and she's not making it look any less ita here either.
